Danny Kirwan and Peter Green played so well together. At the 10 minute mark you just have to sit back and admire the camaraderie.. it’s fucking sensational
Honestly unreal. Generation before were simply better.
I don't think there was a duo of Gibson Les Paul guitar players than Danny and Peter together they brought the acid rock era to a whole other level

When I hear the term "British Blues", this is what I think of. I'm 71 years old and was fortunate enough to see and hear a lot of great music. The Fillmore East used to be my home away from home. Sounds like they were kicking out the jams in Boston too!
Simply sublime. I walk a few kilometers each morning on Table View beachfront across from Table Mountain, Cape Town, with my headphones on listening to this kind of grand brilliance. Fresh air filled with Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Simply magic. Old Hippie, Cape Town.

Peter Green is the master, his solos are so unique and often haunting. He pours his soul out and gets lost in his music. To me, the best ever.

Greenie's solo on the middle "underway" part of this medley is just heartbreakingly, hauntingly beautiful... just perfect.
Seriously, who today can play with incredible enthusiasm and genuine love of their music for almost 25 minutes, and LIVE to boot! Peter et al were incredible and this for me was FM (Fleetwood Mac) at its best! RIP Peter as your genius is not lost on us fans who followed you for a short but very memorable time.

Peter Green came up with the name Fleetwood Mac in generous tribute to bandmates Mick Fleetwood and John Macvie, even though he was the real star of the show.
Close enough. He just doesn't want to be in the spotlight, since Green is a man and a musician with almost zero ego.

ÌKR... the 70s lineup was ok but by that time that bluesy thrill was gone away for good although Lindsey Buckingham played some bluesy licks here and there BUT... that triple guitar attitude that planted the Lynyrd Skynyrd seed always gets it for me thanks to 'Blues Jam In Chicago Vol. 2' in my 70s childhood and the volume 1 came along for me 2yrs ago when Greenbaum passed away.
I had just turned 18, "Oh Well" was a hit on the local FM college station in Atlanta. I went to see them when they came to town in 1970. So loud, so f'ing good!

Scott Teague I recommend watching a few frank zappa interviews about what he thinks of the music industry and where he sees the direction of music heading in the future which we are basically living in now and I believe you will have your answer

I prefer this version to the other extended version. Danny is more involved, and the transition into the clean part is perfect.
Rest In Peace, good sir! You played for an adoring public that loved your every move, every bluesy lick that melted our hearts, just as these 2 pieces show. You will be sorely missed by thousands of fans and we will play your music louder and longer to resound through the skies as you play in Heaven. Sleep well when you set your guitar down one last time.
My favorite song and favorite version, nothing comes close to this performance. Rest in peace Peter Green. A true master at work.

This and "Coming Your Way" were the 2 best concert songs they had going, at the time. Ah, if only Peter hadn't left. They were right on the verge of breaking through big time onto the American market.

Saw them play this at a club that held maybe 500 people in Detroit wow powerful for a young man that had no idea but fell in love for the last 60yrs

This composite + version of "Rattle Snake Shake", via getting Underway of Green's improvisational riff technique that returns to the Reason, which was an intention between him and Danny, whose musical dialogue here is a Musician's Dream. Peter Green met Danny Kirwan at a jam and ended up, well... the music says it; I love this incantation of Fleetwood Mac. The Blues Rock Experimental Era.

The other version from this run of concerts is even better. Peter Green and Danny Kirwan were the front men for an incredible group. The 3cd set of this series of shows might be the best live cd's from the era.

Not usually a "jam" person (a little young for the '60s but came through enough of them in the '70s & over the years) - this one is epic - a train that keeps going down the tracks; the whole band is a conversant/united organism. Not only holds my attention but creates lots of great sounds & side conversations along the way.

Gives me chills everytime I hear this the sound of brilliance IMO the only other band that was on this level at that time was the original lineup of the allman brothers band w duane and betts
I would also in that group include the Grateful Dead, that 69 - 73 was when they truly hit their highest mark.

It sounds like dark poetry suited in blueswailing guitar sound. Masterful and inspiring. I especially love the conversations between the guitars. There is so much going on here.

It doesn't get any heavier than this, nobody could jam like Fleetwood Mac! All of those heavy metal bands were a drop in the ocean (collectively!) compared to this.
Up until the first 18-19 minutes I thought this is one of the blandest renditions of Rattlesnake Shake I've heard, but then Peter and Danny explode with a glorious 5 minute jam that makes the wait all worthwhile.
Too bad about the fadeout! I would have loved to hear the audience cheering this one. Fantastic.
I think it's a shame too, but I suspect that this jam was too long even for a CD. According to the English wikipedia (or another source), when Peter Green was still there - until 1970 - Fleetwood Mac sometimes jamed “at the end” of their concerts for two hours or even longer (almost) without a break, so that a concert that was supposed to end at 11 p.m. , once lasted until 2 a.m. or even until 4 a.m.!
It's amazing that the guys managed to do this back then despite (or maybe because of?) their rather heavy drug and alcohol consumption (and like many rock stars etc. "sometimes" probably quite excessive "consumption" of women. :-)).

I can't remember where I heard this, but someone once refered to post "rumors" era Fleetwood Mac as "Flatwood Meek"
And, adding to what Tjalfebaby said, yet another version or two, which are also brilliant 'cause Kirwan's still involved, for one thing, along with Fleetwood & McVie. Many fans like everything up until Heroes. The original FM (at its peak, with Kirwan-Green) holds the seed/the juice/the grail.
People who love this kind of stuff (like me) should check out Riding on the L&N by Steamhammer from the album Mountains. Another great blues-rock jam from an even more obscure band.

@@allanramusiewicz996 I agree wholeheartedly! As an example...I was not a fan of "The Dead" back in early '80's,but was so curious about the scene,I went to check them out. By the end their first set I was hooked. But perhaps more importantly,they expanded my musical horizons to explore more stuff that I became equally passionate about.
I am forever "grateful' to "The Dead" for instilling that hunger. Early Fleetwood Mac with Peter,Danny,Bob illustrates what I'm talking about to the note!
Fleetwood Mac is generally divided into three versions. The Peter Green version, the Bob Welch/Bob Weston version, and the Buckingham/Nick's version.
Who says there are only 2 FM's? It's a whole history with certain common threads, like Fleetwood's drumming, Green, Kirwan, McVie's, Weston, Welch, et al over Musical time.
