- The last video I made of Peter & Danny's time with Fleetwood was lost when my BadlyDrawnBallbag channel got took down sadly...
I'll try and get the other footage I've got back online at some point but in the meantime heres a reupload of the live video with the Pete & Danny rehearsing before the Droitwich Blues Festival tagged at the beginning. I've also got better source videos for some parts and included a couple of interviews of Pete and some footage of the band travelling.
I don't make anything colourising and putting these videos together so please support the channel with the link here if you can its greatly appreciated! tr.ee/vDvH8nOpUB

These were days before Fleetwood Mac became bubblegum. Saw them at the Chesford Grange in the late '60s. Brilliant.
SO VERY TRUE.
Way better than the other Fleetwood Mac post 1970 or 71 ish. Like said above, bubblegum.
The original Fleetwood Mac with Peter green are simply the best. Peter green is a big Miss i just love their music
The REAL Fleetwood Mac.
This is the rarest of gems - Peter Green and his original Fleetwood Mac caught in a montage of live cuts soon after the release of their brilliant last album together, "Then Play On", released September 1969. The passion, comradery, the utter brilliance of these shockingly young London bluesmen (Peter 23, Danny 19, Jeremy 21, John 24, Mick 22) comprises a timepiece worth cherishing for all electric blues/rock lovers and musicians alike. These precious echoes from the die-cutting '60's London Blues Revival served as harbingers for the bluesmen and women who followed as well as for those who still do. In the meantime get a copy of the whole album, then play it loud, proud, and often. As Shakespeare wrote: "If music be the food of love, then play on". Simple formula for complete satisfaction...
absolutely 💯
Copy all of that brother.
Amen to all the above. From The Green Manalishi mega fan
I met Danny Kirwin when he was doing gigs with a group called Boilerhouse. And was at a venue when he joined Fleetwood Mac.
How does that voice come out of a 23 year old Englishman? The best blues singer we've produced. And arguably the best blues guitarist too: my favourite, anyway.
👊
Which one?
the real fleetwood mac, sadly never to be repeated top,top group
👍☮️
Peter Green and Danny Kirwan should have been the greatest artistic duo in history. If only life had been kinder to them both
What really happened to them, did they both just trip out?
@@NathanSmith-xf7rk Both had very complex mental health problems. In Peters case many believe his condition was exacerbated by an infamous night in Munich were he took what is assumed to be bad acid. A few years later he was admitted to hospital and underwent electroconvulsive therapy (which has since been discredited as a treatment) which, imo, changed him far more than anything previously.
Danny had joined FM very young, which had soon become one of the most well known bands in the world. When Peter shockingly left the band Danny was left to shoulder much of the bands creative output. A fantastic musician but would later fade into obscurity and reclusiveness. He spent most of his life homeless with stints at relatives homes.
Thanks for your reply, I thought they had mental health issues 👍
Munich, man...Munich.😢
I get your sentiment but they chose the path they followed and lost. The irony here is that the two members with the least talent, Fleetwood and Mac(vie) will probably out play and outlive theother members of the band.
Peter Green is without doubt one of the greatest underappreciated blues singers and guitarist of all time
👊
And Paul Kossoff too
@@tosictofic7663And Danny also.
Druggie dufus that's exactly what devil worship created... they got his soul... Oh Well...
appreciated by me. I still get pissed when the song Black Magic woman gets attributed to Carlos Santana. always shout out Peter as the true author
The musical genius known as Peter Green! one of the greatest guitarists of his time and beyond. IMO
A favorite album,A hard road, john mayall, with the intensity of Mr Peter green.the tone is what amazes me.on the stumble different album he gets a tone that has similar aspects to others, but makes him instantly recognizeble.guys like green and bloomfield have there own tonal footprint. That is not a copy .That is their God given talent. That is the difference I hear from an original, compared to an imitation.
One of the greatest blues guitarist ever, Peter Green.
👊
Albatross was such a romantic song. It blew me away. I will always remember this and how I felt.
Danny Kirwan was a great guitarist, sadly underrated. His playing with attack, tone and vibrato was on top.
The Real Fleetwood Mac
Jeremy had a great natural voice for blues music. 👍👍
Saw em back in 1968 in a farm turned rockclub in the middle of Holland. They were in great form! Legends.
Thank you for posting this pure treasure! Fleetwood with Green, McVie, Spencer and Kirwan was one of the greatest band of all time
Cheers just finishing editing a 1hr 20 minute version with all the interviews and mimed tv show footage aswell. I’ll post it in a few days
It's not about stardom, just the love of being in a blues band, bless them.
The Peter Green exhibits a direct connection between his hands , head his fingers and a higher power. As Peter said he plays from his heart and sometimes a song is enhanced by the notes you don't b play as well as the notes you do play. The Green God always brings the goods!
This Band in my humble opinion stood head and shoulders above above them all . Peter Green and Danny Kirwan Masters of the Blues .
This collection of performances by the formidable original lineup Fleetwood Mac is an utter gem. Thank you thank you 🙏🙏❤️
No problem I’ve done a longer one including all the mimed performances but sadly youtube blocked it…
It really is, and thank the lord we have it preserved to be enjoyed today! 👏
We saw them in 1970/71 in Chicago, where they played many of these great blues numbers--- One of those shows was with the band Mckendree Spring, and Irish singer Maggie Bell----
@@thomasfoss9963Maggie Bell - do tragically away from us way to soon. She wore it well - infinitely well. (Every Picture Tells A Story. Rod recognised her voice as one of the greatest of the era
Danny put every ounce of his being in his playing.
Wonderful footage of Danny and Peter at beginning. They were so powerful, then add Jeremy Spencer and his slide, they Were The Best band 67-70. Green was the top, and Kirwin & Spencer were foils to Green's mercurial playing. And these guys used no pedals. And 32:49 way better than Derick & Dominoes or Allman Bros. twin lead sound. Green and the F.M. were so far ahead of curve and at 35:23 is a full blown statement of Green's Greatness. That is a solo, all Peter Green. He IS THE Greatest that ever lived. And at 48:07 a interview with Peter by Dave Dixon, at the time with Detroit station WABX, the best FM station in Detroit in late 60's to mid 70's, which I listened to every day. I think it might have been broadcast on Detroit's Public Television station at time, that also aired MC5 show at Tartar Field (Wayne State University) near downtown Detroit. I associated Fleetwood Mac with this era, but still listened to Welch era in early 70's, but did not go for Buckingham Nikes era. Too me Fleetwood Mac Was Peter Green era. My Ex-Wife stole my WABX shirt with the X Pup on it.
👊
Had to listen till 45 minutes to finally hear some decent guitar work .
Fleetwood mac, were a brilliant group Peter Green was a brilliant guitarist of all time. 😊
Thank you..This is brilliant vintage footage..so looking forward to more...
No worries thanks 🤘👊
Just watched this whole thing twice. God, I wish there were more footage of Peter Green, playing guitar or even interviews, he’s such a fascinating person
Me and you both!
I've got some footage of Peter being interviewed, at some point I'll get round to posting a new video with all the footage I have including mimed TV performances and interviews. I had it on my last channnel but it got taken down.
@@bluesincolourthanks for the content I am a Peter Green fanatic and love your mostly lost videos . The Green God rocks me!
some stuff of Jeremy and Danny would be nice too 🙂 x
Listen to the stumble,or supernatural. The guy was from another planet.maybe the same planet as Jeff beck?
This is FANTASTIC. Best English blues band ever. I had all their early albums. I think I discovered them after reading the B.B. King quote about Peter's guitar tone. Fleetwood Mac in Chicago, probably my favorite. Some lowlife stole them from me. Hope karma took good care of him.
Did you ever hear- B.B King was rehearsing in the same building as Fleetwood Mac and overheard them and was digging the guitar. He came over and asked where or who the guitarist is. They said Peter, and B.B. laughed and said no really who was that (black man undoubtedly). It was Peter and B.B. was blown away.
He later said that Peter was the only guitarist that makes him sweat (!)
Electric guitar 🎸 history. 🕉
Fabulous-thank you so much for posting this-its magical.there's something terribly sad and elegiac about watching footage of these brilliant young musicians full of energy & optimism knowing how Jeremy & Peter's lives would turn out.Peter Green is such a gentle (almost lost) soul in the interview at 48.06 but when he's on stage-wow.The performance of "World keep on turning " at 37.27 is blues at its best-simply raw & moving,
Best British blues band from late Sixties💯🔥
Definitely!
*John Mayall has left the chat* 😳
Peter Green basically got his start with John Mayall-----
Man of the World, Need Your Love So Bad, Oh Well!
I prefer the band with Peter Green
So much to this footage, words could not do it justice. Thank you sincerely...
👊
Thank you for sharing this. Well edited. I saw them many times at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood. They were my favorite band, and Peter Green my favorite guitarist. The band that I was in, played at least 5 of their songs. I miss those days. ❤❤❤
I can give testimony at the Long Beach Areana 1973ish Peter Green w Fleetwood Mac was a treasure to witness and rock out to!
Peter wasn't with FM in 1973
Right!!! Then Play On was the last album with Peter--- Then, Danny Kirwin took over as singer, and lead guitar player---
Being a gear head I love these old videos if nothing more than to catch a glimpse of this awesome (now vintage) gear.
Thank you for this footage and upload. This is beyond inspirational and moving, thank you.
No worries I’ve done a longer version including all the mimed tv performances but UA-cam blocked it hopefully it’ll get released at some point 🤞🙏
@@bluesincolour Thank you for this upload neither the less. All love, continue doing what you do best
Absolutely fabulous footage. Even the budgie gets it and joins in occasionally too!! Thank you for posting this.
No worries hopefully more footage shows up!
infinitely better than the inflated garbaaaaarj, they became throughout the late 70's, and 80's
Yes all three great players kinda went into religious mode! Awesome when they were together!!🙏
YEAH BOYSYOU ARE THE LEGENDS PETER WE ALL MISS YOU YOU ARE THE BEST IN THE SONG ALBATROS I CAN HEAR MY HEARTBEAT
The Fleetwood Mac Boston Tea Party albums are the GOAT of live albums!🎶🎶🎶❤️👍
Peter playing his Fender 6 string bass guitar in some clips, so cool 😎 🎸
Danny is so young.
Peter on the great Les Paul and Danny on a Fender Telecaster was unusual to see.
Danny Kirwin started playing with a group called Boilerhouse. They we're supporting them at a gig, and i was there the night he joined Fleetwood Mac.
God Danny Kirwan Jeremy Spencer and Peter Green were beyond and a huge Battery confidently fillin g the low end .Unstoppable force of nature here
👊
man i love watching Danny get down
Thanks for uploading this rare gem , love earlier Mac of the Green/Kirwan era .
Fabulous ! This was clearly one of the most intense band of this era !
Fleetwood Mac, это ......... Fleetwood Mac!!!
С меня подписка.
Привет из России
Ah, I would love to time travel to experience that music, the people, the vibes. All that fun without a freakin' cell phone in sight.
Wow!! I believe Danny is playing a 59 burst unmolested at that.
Mary Quant haircuts everywhere...Those were the days...sweet memories
Alright now -- you have put together all the available video of Peter Green with Fleetwood Mac. Well done, well done. The opening segment with Danny and Peter in a home working on a song is precious. Kirwan was a teenager and Green saw the potential in him. I still think Green's greatest guitar work was with Mayall's Bluesbreakers, but his writing and singing progressed a lot with the Mac. Great stuff, thanks.
👊
Spencer sure added to that bluesy underpinning, doesn’t get the credit he deserves imo
I was there, at the Manor House, Cooks ferry, and others - the best band ever
Thanks Man!....Supported Fleetwood Mac in '68-'69 in the Marquee Club, London, a great intimate venue where many British bands started out, was my favorite band at the time.
👊
Ah-- The Marquis Club!!!
From here to eternity a moment in time.
Peter's vocals just kept getting stronger.
On Playboy show, he was a powerhouse on 'Rattlesnake Shake'.
Thanks for posting this, it brings back happy memories.
God, the solo on Coming Your Way!
Gary Moore bought and used live Peter's out of phase pickups Les Paul, then Kirk Hammett of Metallica bought it.
Amazing 👏
I love this. I have the LP vnyl disc: The World of Blues Power, which I will never give up and this song is on it. The original by Peter Green. I know all the lyrics. I got this album when I lived in Madrid in 1976. This brings back very romantic memories for me.
Yes thanks too👍👍👍💚💚💚,sad that there are so littl Videos of Peter ,
Lots more was filmed so fingers crossed...
well put together..
all the old clips but nicely edited..
there is such little footage of this great incarnation of the band..
peter, danny and Jeremy 🙂 x
thankyou for sharing this..
No worries! 👊
@@bluesincolour i said 'all the old clips' and that doesn't sound quite right to me..
this footage is so precious..
did i see you say you had more? 🙂 x
@@davidevans3227 I have, I've put together another video of all material I have so live, interviews, mimed performances but it keeps getting blocked everytime I go to post it sadly... Its about an hr and 20minutes long.
@@bluesincolour sounds good! 🙂
But have you given up trying to post that??
i don't understand computer stuff, you manage to keep the original when they block/stop it..
maybe its copyright issues or something.. i don't understand these things.
i love encountering other fans of Peter green and Fleetwood Mac..
Until i got a computer etc., i thought i was the only one!! lol. 😃
mad
thanks again.. 🙂 x
@@davidevans3227 I’ve just collected loads of bits over the years and put them together myself like this one
It was good to be young then in a psychedelic (mind expanding) world if you were young and beautiful. Today the world is a dystopian nightmare on the brink of collapse thru too much negative human activity. We are literally reaping the whirlwind of what we've sown.
maybe, hopefully not....
@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 There are too many humans on the planet causing too much negative activity and Nature is starting to pay us back.
It’s pretty much a crime that a channel named ‘badly drawn ballbag’ gets taken down
😂I know gutted I loved that name
Fabulous to see all the clips together. Thank you🙂🎸🎸🎸
No worries I’ve been working on redoing the version with all mimed tv performances aswell so will post that once it’s done
The song “Linda” is like when you can’t get the rights to Peggy Sue so you just rewrite it. Chords, beat, tone, hiccups and everything.
The song he is sounding like isn't peggy sue but rather its called Sheila by Tommy roe! But Tommy roe sounds much like Buddy Holly as well!

THEN PLAY ON is the masterpiece.
I would have been into this if I would've known about it. So cool.
Really good video along with great audio. Thanks so much for throwing this up. Cheers, next round on me. 🍸🚬. 😎
👊
Danny Kirwan is an overlooked talent.
The Amazing did a tribute song to Danny called the Kirwin Song and it's pretty good
You were able to dance in the audience, those were times......
Thanks for posting. Love "It Takes Time" and love Fleetwood Mac's version. Greens is playing and singing great ...but his "thank you" to the audience at the end of the number seems concerning. Interested to see Stanley Owsley's (RIP) credit, making this is a "Bear Tape"
👊
The chicks even looked hot Back then
they certainly were....
Where do you think the hotties of today came from???
I was lucky to hear these innovators at the
Lyceum in the Strand London during this period -- fabulot
Lyceum was in Charing Cross Road surely....
What a man
I watched them live with Arthur Brown somewhere in LA . Cool times. :O)
I was sixteen and totally besotted with Fleetwood Mac. I idolized Peter Green, the guitar playing, the voice, the look, I wanted to be Peter Green. Fast forward many years later and I’m in my tour managers apartment in Hamburg, Germany in his kitchen. Sitting at the table with us was a bald, overweight and very shy and slightly lost looking person. We were introduced by the tour manager “Hey this is Peter Green” I couldn’t believe that this shell of a person was the same person from my youth. He hardly managed a sentence… fortunately a few years later he seemed to have got himself together. RIP Peter, still one of the greatest of all time.
This is a fantastic collection… thanks so much:)
ECT fried his brain. It's criminal what was done to him.
Amazing!!!!
👊
want to see Better and learn all of Peter green and Fleetwood Mac in sing and play blues harp ....but After this fantastic rock blues /i come back from O😊😅
Jeremy Spencer! Danny! PETER! This is great footage!
Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac Live 1968-70...!
The best line up ever.😊
Idunno... I tried with it, I really did... had the record with the albatross on the cover, 30+yrs ago... think it was a gift. I was too young to 'get' it.... and now, at 50, having played guitar for many years, I still don't really get it... it's fabulous for a good ten minutes, but then my mind starts to wonder. I find it fascinating though, that the Mac were playing this music, back then...other styles dated, but Blues is timeless. I guess, as a guitarist who also loves Blues, I just have my own ideas..The uptempo stuff is fun, like party music or whatever, but I want it slowed down... I mean right down n dirty... with the most epic guitar solo's I have within myself, to conjure... one day eh...
the album THEN PLAY ON hits me the best.
Pure , fantastic, soul as you can get , a lot of bands copied these guys,,among the greats,,
The original Mac then had 3 lead guitarists.
Thanks Heaps for uploading these Awesome clips.
No worries!
UK:s, in this formation, best band ever!
Definitely! 👊
I would agree but there is one other UK band thats pretty good also.😂
How about John Mayall's assembly of fine guitar players in his group!!!!!
Bittersweet....thanks for putting this up...Oh Well.....
You rescued a lot!! Thank you very much
Very much appreciated
👊
Thanks for posting these! We watched them regularly on your other channel, and, we loved the channel's name... Lol... We are thrilled that we can enjoy them again... 👏👏👏

Kirwan's style makes me think of Mick Taylor's. Same fuidity, same feeling.
Both fantastic players 👊
