I was amazed when I saw this on Spotify, but was a little shocked it didn't sound the same, I much rather this one, don't get me wrong, the remastered is good too, but this one is great 😅
This song explains the process of a deep depression perfectly. Even when it seems there's nothing left to live for, you keep moving, clinging to those little shards of life that still show up occasionally. It feels like a lifetime has passed when the light finally starts to shine again. I wanted to thank everyone that created this for expressing so well the journey that leads up to the eventual recovery.
I know I'm late as heck, but if anyone reads it, thanks, and don't ever give up.

I think the story is about an average japanese citizen perhaps the singer of the original song, its not translated here but in the translation in the anime it says “the sober man from the busy city has no reason to gaze at the moon” and i think it is a comment on the fact that with all the people fixating on their jobs and working them selves to death in japan, it has become almost unusual to stop for a moment and contemplate your life, and i think that is part of the message, but also that everyone does go through tough times and however you choose to see it is what will get you past it (if your seasons die off, or if they are getting reborn again is all bout how you look at it) sorry kind of a rant ;)

This is the closest and best english translation to this song. I mean you can interpret Japanese songs many different ways cause it get's lost in translation and a lot of words don't have any real english equivalent. My best friend ( which sadly I won't be able to visit this year I had to take care of my parents debt.) she Toshiba ward in Tokyo, but has now moved to Kyoto Prefecture ( which by the way still blows my mind how many prefectures , regions just different places and names japan has . ) She's always had a job as a translator, but now she went and got pregnant and I guess family first.
She is obsessed with Tokyo Ghoul and sometimes if we are ever up at the same damn time gives me translations like reading to me a bed time story only it's over skype and it's manga chapters. ANYWAYS MAIN POINT: This is her favorite cover and she showed it to me cause it's the one that is very near close to the japanese lyrics. It's hard, very hard to do english covers since songs can be translated in many different ways. This is one of those that is what you called grade A translation.
The song is depressing and hopeful. It's Keneki Ken Broken down and beaten rising up when everything is hopeless cause no matter what the seasons still turn just get up even when there's nothing move forward. I know very depressing, but it is a very positive way .
I'm humbled that your friend approved of my translated lyrics, thanks a lot! I had actually written these lyrics before I actually watched either season of Tokyo Ghoul due to irl busyness and sort of did some guesswork adapting the direct translation but I'm glad it worked out good in the end!
JefferzKM You did an amazing job. Especially, going in blind like that. I mean i've seen and heard covers and have a few faved, but this one is the one that truly tells the story inside Keneki . What his soul feels and the pain and anguish that he went through, the wanting to end it and give up to looking ahead and realizing no matter what the days go one, the seasons change you can stop or move forward. When you look back at yourself you don't realize it at that time, but you come far from where you were.
You did a fantastic job lyrically .My Japanese rusty AF, She pretty much has to treat me like kid when she gets the new chapter of any of the current manga we read. Gotta go on skype and tell it like it's a bedtime story lol. Though sadly time difference between Texas and Kyoto is just insane. so there have been more than a week I haven't been able to speak to her so this song , this version really makes me happy. I know that's weird, but we weird BFF's almost 30 and still actin 18 .. So grown up.

Like chinese translating to english is sometimes simple but unlike the english language every single word in chinese holds more than a single meaning and sometimes the english language doesn't have a word for them. its something similar to the japanese songs

There's just something about this cover that, just outshines all the other covers of this song. It feels like its the perfect piece to an unfinished puzzle, the lyrics just seem to fit perfectly with the song. Maybe I'm biased by I can barely listen to any other covers of this song, it just perfect.

This song is wonderful. For a simple reason it described perfectly how everyone hase to live, some feel it more than others, some less. This sont personally helps me even rn even tho I already accepted my fate. I some times have hard times just like everyone. My health issues makes it so I don’t have a lot of ways to enjoy life in general. And I can just say thx to this song and some ppl helping me out staying motivated towards life.
Finally a full version of this song, probably my all time favorite Tokyo Ghoul song. It was the one that helped me the most two years ago after nearly dying from heart failure and going through a very traumatic experience! Couldn’t help but cry listening to this.

This song, just listening to it without thinking of the show, makes me imagine someone with the strength to find happiness even as their world is falling apart around them o.o with it's mixture of sorrowful lyrics.. and it's powerful beat~
I'm surprised I haven't commented on this upload yet, seeing as ever since I've initially heard it I've both listened to and sung it as if I were addicted. (That's been quite a while btw)
To say that I like this rendition of the song would be an understatement. I've heard quite a few renditions of the song in fact, and am a fan of many by far. However, I feel as if this version of the song really captures what it is trying to say, as well as holding a massive amount of emotion with it.
Let me first say that the singing and mixing of this cover are both excellent. I hope it's not an insult for me to state that I was extremely surprised at just how great it sounded. I'm by no means an expert in the art, but I'm hard pressed to find any issues, and TMM's voice was so well suited to it that it seemed as though it were made for him.
The lyrics were brutal. They genuinely conveyed a sense of hopelessness and helplessness for the character, with just a glimpse of something to look towards. By the ending of the song, when the character has finally accepted their sins and now looks to the present as something hopeful the entire transition had been seamless. All of the lyrics go together perfectly and doesn't feel broken at all. The word choices were pretty much perfect and allowed for a lot of hidden meaning to shine through. Just hearing or singing it at points had helped me to put my own thoughts in order and realized things about my own life, lol.
TLDR; Thanks for the awesome cover guys, thumbs up.
