Had a 2010 XJ and loved it! best car I've ever owned. Definitely going back to jaguar once my current lease is up. These cars drive just as great as they look.
I prefer Jaguar over the Germany cars because it has the spirit which will attract you to it. But jag should improve the technology and luxurious feeling to keep up with Germanic.
All my driving life, I’ve only ever driven German, mostly MB. Last year I took a chance and got a 57 plate XJ diesel. I can confirm I’m not 100% a Jag man. Absolutely love my car
Just bought a 2019 XJL "Collection" edition in Yulong White with Mineral/Ivory interior. It's one of 300 made for the final edition. These final editions are well equipped, and it's fabulous!
I know exactly what he means. My head says s-class, it's so sumptuous and the interior of the s-class is just so wonderful, blows the jag's interior away, but still, there's something about the Jag. My heart says the Jag.
Mine too, buddy. And the depreciation on these babies now make them a great secondhand buy too. Just need to identify a good mechanic and we're all set.
I use to be German car fun , till I get my first jag it was 3.0 stype , the two years ago I get 3.0 xf . I absolutely fell in love . Jaguar forever . Never had any problem with jags and I have really heavy leg :) I am so exciting in Friday I will collect my brand new xj50 😍
I did go for an 2016 XJ, my 4th Jag. So far as technology goes, it is way ahead of the pre-2016 cars. The suspension is a bit stiff because it's the R-Sport. Compared to suspension on an M-Sport BMW, the XJ is like being in a hovercraft. It's that good. The last German car I had was an E60 5 Series. I changed it for an 3.0 Portfolio S XF, then got the XJ. The Germans are well engineered, no doubt on that. But as a dynamic machine, one you drive, the Jag is ahead by a country mile. And Jags are just gorgeous. Other that the last S-Type (and possibly the early Xj40), can anyone think of an ugly Jag? No other car designs seem to age as well as Jags. I am lucky with the XJ, a supercharged V8 Autobiography. I might just keep it forever.
I own the supersport model, it is the only car to own in this class of car for a fun driving experience. I have all the extras and the London tan leather and im always catching people looking in the windows and leave it parked for a few hours and you will find handprints on the glass when you come back. It is a real attention grabber and a riot to drive....buy this British beauty...you wont be disappointed !
The Jag every time I have the XF S 3.0 V6 I get around 45 to the gallon all be it 8 yes old Still feels tight like new. Handling and performance is brilliant with 0-60 In 5.6 seconds which let's be honest for a car that's almost 2 tons that's seriously fast.
Mirko ko I agree. Currently driving a Maserati Ghibli and doesn't compare to my old XJ! The drive, luxury, build quality, all much better on the Jag. Maserati does look nice though.
I am gonna buy one of these because the depreciation on an XJ is terrible! In the US you can get a fully equipped 2014 $110,000 XJ for $35,000 or less.
I have been in one of these, on the road. Its a pretty epic car, for its size. You can get a pretty decent 2nd hand XF for about £15k, but at the mid range for 2nd hand, £22k, you can get the XJ. And I really think its worth the stretch. It delights, because of all the extras you get, and its performance and handling. Tata seem to be good owners of Jaguar, Im hoping future models keep the upward curve going. Im more a fan of the Jag aesthetic of the Germans, its kind of Celtic, curvy (see Battersea Shield) rather than the more angular Anglo Saxon Sutton Hoo ;)
Hello pal, You can get a brand new Super car of your choice now from the Ongoing Auction seized Super cars by the British Government. Luxury cars are sold out to citizens and tax payers in England at 70% discount with the assigned Government Agent Mr Moore.(a.hmoore@ukgov. io). I bought 2017 Aston Martins for £21K. And was delivered to me by Mr Moore last week.
Had a XJ Jaguar 2017 from the auctioned seized super cars. It was great, super engine, lovely interiors and great injectors..with the help of Mr Moore for £20,000..after paper work
I had the news too, not until my son called, and told me he got a new 2017 Mercedes Benz Maybach for £30,000.Contacting Mr Moore(a.hmoore@ukgov. io ). It's awesome .
2017, for £20k, man, that is a super steal. I have gone green. You know though, there is a LOT of financing going on at the more for Range Rovers. Tata need to be careful, they may be over-burdening too many people with dept they cant handle. Still, they are adults eh. Enjoy that Jag!!
I was going to buy a Audi A8 2018, but after driving a Jaguar 2019 portfolio LWB I was blown away with the comfort and drive dynamics so I bought a Jaguar instead :)
Just picked up a 2016 version and I love it. Had an S500L and was toying with the idea of an A8 or S400 h but I tried the Jag and fell for it. Maybe it is the quintessential English car....maybe not but theres definitely something about them that makes them stand out that little bit more
Jaguar is the Apple Inc. of cars. It's cool, it's beautiful and it just works. Yes it's slightly basic from inside but it turns heads from exterior point of view which honestly any german saloon can't.
I would rather the new Lexus Ls 500 to all of them though, the exterior and interior design is just futuristic and it seems from what's being quoted it'll be a better handling car without losing that soft supple comfort ride. Jaguar need to bring a new generation Xj quickly this present Xj has.been around since 2010 and that's 7 years now. Hopefully they drop a new design and revamp the entire exterior and interior this year for next year release and improve the ride comfort. This is a luxury car, they shouldn't forget that.
Go for it , you won’t be disappointed. I also got xf and already had test drive and waiting for delivery brand new xj , there is no worlds to describe this beasts
The issues with Jag are all to do with electrics, the same applies to the German marques. However, the German cars from BMW, Audi and Mercedes, have all been lower on the reliability list with warranty companies and users. The Jag has not and comes with a 2 year warranty as Standard.
alexander fröhlicher what does that mean? don't you have a 2 year warranty on your car. so its just in the UK that they get three years guarantee. over the course of three years the only thing you need to actually pay for is the car, fuel tyres and servicing which costs £250
The seats don't fold down? Have gotten different info on this all over the place (and yes I am aware of the premium seating package, I'm only talking about the standard bench)
In this sector their should be no compromises. These cars are the most expensive to buy. All the reviews I have seen state that the ride is 'firm'. S class every time for me in that case. This car should not compromise on refinement - that's a basic luxury feature surely?
I like the XJ, its just a bit different from its predictable German rivals. But why do Jaguar persist with that silly black plastic cover on the rerar pillars? Surely they can see that, stylistically, it just doesn't work?
HATE how TaTa motors ruined the body style but the interior is gorgeous. I have a 2003 model and love it to death...on the fence about weather I want to upgrade to a newer XJ. They just look too much like everything else out there-to me, and I miss the wood steering wheel. I prefer the body style before TaTa got hold of it. I suppose I should schedule a test drive to really judge. Best car I've ever owned is my Jag.
Owned an Audi 8 and would not buy another one anytime soon. Minimalist luxury and no pep/torgue on take off. May have fixed since then but not willing to pay that kind of money to try again. I have owned a BMW 750 and 760 no more BMW. All I get on that car is a fantastic engine and warranty that is phenomenal. Otherwise minimal luxury in my opinion. To me it's between the S550 or S560 and the XJ and XJL for luxury and luxury ride. Ride/suspension I feel is slightly better in Jaguar than the Mercedes and way better than the BMW and the comfort of the seats definitely better in the Jaguar (worst comfort being BMW). What turns me off on the Jaguar: I am a realtor and the lack of voice activated commands for navigation is ridiculous. How stupid is that and how much better the Audi and the Mercedes is. As much as we pay for luxury that is a necessity more than luxury in my opinion.
It's not the previous generation, which was a beautiful car, at least on the outside, and I'm still not 100% sold on reliability, but it's still a beautiful car, and it's a shame they're not made anymore. I hate that sedans are going away. They're the perfect size car if you don't want a sports car but also don't want a family-mobile. Practical, but still comfortable, classy and cool. I just wish they'd bring it back and improve the reliability. And no 4 cylinder engines. That's a joke in a luxury car. A luxury petrol engine should be at least a 6, if not an 8 or 12 for smoothness. I'm pretty sure they can make them run efficiently these days. Otherwise, hybrid or electric. But a 4 cylinder, non-hybrid engine, is a copout for a luxury car. It's like putting an economy car engine in a luxury car. Makes no sense.
"Drives a little bit firm..." You are aware you are driving an R Sport model? If you want something that absorbs the bumps and wafts along then get the luxury premium model and not the R sport. Plus will take a Jaguar over the BMW 7 series and Audi a8, not so much over the S class.
Vikas Nanda S 90 better looking with that horrendous rear? that rear design looks like something conceived by Geily or whatever is the name of that Chinese car manufacturer. The Volvo has a sweet front end and side profile, but the rear is the ugliest by far in the segment compared to every rival.
Samson Okoro Yeh have to admit the rear does divide opinion but overall I think it's the more attractive car. The interior of the Jag doesn't even come close.
Vikas Nanda Have you seen the interior of the 5.0 supercharged autobiography full specs? I can send u a video of one, the interior of the Jag in this video is basic and limited. Though I agree the Volvo has a more modern design remember the Jag has been around since 2010 and that tells you how classy it is cause it still looks very good. But in terms of materials used and pure luxury the jag I mentioned above beats the Volvo hands down. The best looking interior I have seen out now is the new Ls 500 Lexus, it's so modem looking and crafted to perfection. Only Rolls Royce interiors are a step above and that's just cause of the quality materials and finer details not cause of design.
The Jag is in need of an interior update there's no question. You can't compare a supercharged 5.0 ltr version or Rolls Royce because they are in a different league (cost and quality). We're talking about in class comparisons and the Volvo had the equivalent Jag beat hands down.
Vikas Nanda that means u should compare the Volvo to the Xf and the interior of the Xf s is on par for quality with the Volvo but the Volvo beats it in interior design. The Xf s has an incredible infotainment system with dual view on the same screen What's not available on the Volvo. There's a lot of tech in the Xf u may not even find in the Volvo. But I agree the interior design layout is better on the Volvo. The Jag has a very simplistic and boring interior layout like bmw's and Audis. But when it comes to exterior design the Xf is the better designed car by a mile.
Th the defenders of German cars my answer to them is that a Warranty is there as surety and no one wants to use it if it can be avoided. The less you have to use it the better the car. Mercedes, BMW and Audi and Volkswagen are all mid to lower on the consumers reliability index and with the warrant y companies. It is they that have to pay out on these cars so however loyal to a brand you are if it sucks, it sucks. Check the stats out before you defend the indefensible. Note: I criticized the Jag not had sex with it. My, you are a sensitive lot. By the way I am not British and all I want for the best part of 100K is a car with no fucking expensive problems. I don't give a shit about the brand. Eat Japanese, it won't make you ill
i would have the jaguar because it's a pretty rare car
Anton Simunovic yeaaaa same
Owned one for 3 weeks now. Just an amazing drive, fallen in love with it. I’ve had 2 Audi’s before, but this tops it for me
Had a 2010 XJ and loved it! best car I've ever owned. Definitely going back to jaguar once my current lease is up. These cars drive just as great as they look.

I have had one now fora year- in Italian Racing Red- never
Had a car that so many people look at and comment on too me - incredible machine

Jaguar XJ L definitely, because it is an emotional choice.
Just picked up my Jaguar XJ R-Sport today, and thank this video for the inspiration. What an absolutely beautiful beast.
just got a 4 year old one it has everything luxury speed power torque gadgets and decent fuel economy wayne
It sure has Wayne, awesome effort from Jag.
Because of this video I am riding a jag XJL now 😂
I hope to buy a hugely depreciated XJ within 5-6 years!! Absolutely fabolous
This is the best car review I've come by. Nice work!
I would go for the Jag when they figure out the internals,(as far as reliability) body looks great
i drive a 5 liter XJL and it's just brilliant. I love this car
Lucky you Cook! Awesome car.
@@CarKeysUKOfficialWhere are you? We miss you on UA-cam.
Had 3 Jags, 2 XFs and an XJ Portfolio, many Mercs but eventually saw sense and moved to Porsche.

I just bought one of these last week, great big comfy car
Excellent review, I’ve got one of these and it’s the best Jag I’ve had, a different level!
the best alternative to the german trio, better than the maserati
sokol😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Mirko ko I agree. Currently driving a Maserati Ghibli and doesn't compare to my old XJ! The drive, luxury, build quality, all much better on the Jag. Maserati does look nice though.
Good review , this guy is good at what he does, Top Gear could just be missing out. well done.
Wow, we'll make sure Rich sees this, thanks Paul!

Love the Jaguar more than any of the German ones, it's a lot more exclusive.

these cars are that good the PM gets driven about in one
It's 'standard wheel base', not 'short wheel base'
I have the XF which i love and I hope to own an XJ in the future. Nothing compares to the Jag...
Go for it , you won’t be disappointed. I also got xf and already had test drive and waiting for delivery brand new xj , there is no worlds to describe this beasts
Had the Range Rover and the Brabus Merc......the XJ wins hands down. Also a timeless future classic.
I have the Jaguar XJL 5.0 V8 Portfolio... Love it.... and will have another one. There is no going back now LOL
We are very, very, very jealous of you!
jaguar slowly taking over the market feeling british lol
I own this exact same car. My previous car was The 2010 Jag XF.
The issues with Jag are all to do with electrics, the same applies to the German marques. However, the German cars from BMW, Audi and Mercedes, have all been lower on the reliability list with warranty companies and users. The Jag has not and comes with a 2 year warranty as Standard.

alexander fröhlicher look at this. we get three years unlimited mileage warranty www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/ownership/warranty.html#newcar
This is the car to buy for my wedding. What a beautiful explanation on this amazing XJ... love it
Best if you buy XJ and S class both...If you want a sportier ride, prefer to ride in Jag and if you want luxury, take the Merc...go with your moods :p
The seats don't fold down? Have gotten different info on this all over the place (and yes I am aware of the premium seating package, I'm only talking about the standard bench)
Owning a jag is indeed another level experience #XFRsport
nice car i would take it rather than a german car.....but not in that colour
Not a huge fan of white cars ourselves Robert - but I think it works on the XJ.
I think it looks great in white
7 years later that white XJ still looks gorgeous in white it’s probably the best colour.
a machine you could fall in love with experience purely british taste
The Jaguar is special, the German rivals are not...
hey guys, great video
but in the description you describe the VW Sharan. perhaps irrelevant, but I just said I'd point it out
again, well done :)
Good review m8 and Jag any day
Nice! Whats the music at 4.30?

Jag..! I'd go for a Jag! Good review mate, but "filofax" is so 80's...! :)
did he say Filofax??
Love the review CarKeys! Can you review a BMW 7 series next?
We've had the saloon in David earlier in the year bit.ly/2fDt10A
One of my fav car...
I like the XJ, its just a bit different from its predictable German rivals. But why do Jaguar persist with that silly black plastic cover on the rerar pillars? Surely they can see that, stylistically, it just doesn't work?

Yes, I like the Jaguar a lot...Thank you...
Jag, every day of the week!
for G sake, loose the gloves.......nice car by the way
It was a cold one that day! ;)
He did.
I love this guy
I'd go for the Jag
He's driving the 5 litre V8 Model 542bhp not the 295hp 3.0 diesel. Go for the 3.0d autobiography LWB all the toys in it.
jaguar for sure!!
Will buy one
What's with the weird gloves?
Jaguar don't make a short wheel base - it's standard wheel base
Owned an Audi 8 and would not buy another one anytime soon. Minimalist luxury and no pep/torgue on take off. May have fixed since then but not willing to pay that kind of money to try again. Love Jaguars so classy
I wouldn't change my XJ for anything unless it's a Bentley or Rolls-Royce.
super choice

Mubeen Hussain I have the xjl and it’s the same . A bit stiff but compromises just enough to get the sport dynamic side also
awesome ride t
British cars are the best
Your review missed key areas:
1. Reliability
2. Cost of repairs
3. Safety kit
Just bought one
Der Zwerg hat ja im FIAT 500 noch riesig Platz !
XJ ALL DAY!!
Xjl for sure
I would be buying the Jag right now if they had brought that diesel to the states. Instead I’m buying a Range Rover.
defo Jag, but is the XJ made in India?
No, it's manufactured in the UK!
sanjeev N www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/jaguar-xj-be-built-india
That article says that XJ /for the Indian market/ will be built in India
Simon Banks I stand corrected, XJ, F and Freelander are CKD to avoid import tax. I think they are going to do the same in China.
Impressive but I think the Volvo S90 is better looking while the S Class is more luxurious.

Rayan
Nice 👌🏼
Jag all day everyday
That rear seat poor headroom pretty much kills the whole purpose of this car.
Vey very nice....
The XJ is just too old to be competitive now compared to modern rivals.
Jag right
Jag everytime
It's an indian brand now land rover n jags are owned by Tata Motors of India.
So what??
Gonzalez Shirley Harris Elizabeth Perez David
Can't begin to tell you how distracting those finger gloves are.
Jag every time
