As a Greek, all these respective comments on he byzantine empire make me really happy. Nope Arabs are much much much closer to Syrians than Byzantines , Byzantine Greeks were invaders , and Syriac language is very similar to Arabic , both are Semitic , Greeks are not Semetic people I don't know about Turks .
Imagine this being played as the Byzantine flag is paraded at the Olympics, hosted in Constantinopolis, 2020. How history could have been oh so different.
If Roman Empire formed from one city, then the Empire will be restored by the one human.Constantinople will be restored to the true legacy of Rome,Empire and Legion.Orthodox Church will be rised and restored to the Empire.I am different culture but my heart is Roman.
Eastern Roman Empire was greek speaking, it comprised of Hellenic and Hellenistic populations and had nothing to do with latin culture. As the last emperor in his last speech on the wall stated, it was a grecoroman empire.
Rome is lost. All Romans are dead, and their lands are conquered by germanic peoples. But their legacy lives on. Letters I use to write this are from Latine Alphabet - the one that Romans created and used. Rome never fell - it lives inside us. It's all around us. It is us.
Well, Roman blood is not extinguished. In the mediterranean countries not conquered by the muslims, germanic invaders were such a small minority that they just disappeared after around two centuries or so, just like many other minorities had under the Roman Empire itself. We live on.
You there. Yes you. You who used this Latin Alphabet. You who knows the characters I use to write. You who bows their knee to God. You are a Roman. Our great civilization will never die. It will change. It will divide. It will take a new name. It will speak many languages. It will gain and lose territory throughout history. But at our core, we are still Rome.

David of Trebizond is as Byzantine (Christian GrecoRoman-Rum) as it gets. The Empire of Trebizond or the Trapezuntine Empire was a monarchy and one of three successor rump states of the Byzantine Empire that flourished during the 13th through 15th centuries, consisting of the far northeastern corner of Anatolia (the Pontus) and the southern Crimea. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_Trebizond Since your mother and grandmother can speek pontic greek, this means you are without doubt of Eastern Roman-Byzantine descent. In fact, most people living in Anatolia today are of Byzantine descent. Anatolia was the heart of the Byzantine Empire and the people of Anatolia got turkified by force. That's the reason the dna tests of almost all modern "Turks" show that they are predominantly Anatolian/Greek (aka Byzantine), not Turkic (Central Asian). If you watch a few myheritage dna tests on youtube from turkey, you will know what I mean.

Byzantium was Eastern Roman Empire, populated by Greeks and greek-speaking, but still Rome. Nobody have ever changed its name - created at the end of 4th century, East Rome let Roman Empire exist and finally its fall marked the end of medieval era. It was Roman Empire. People that lived there considered calling them Greeks as an insult.
Rome will rise again. Not a christian empire, nor a pagan one, but a republic of justice and wisdom. Mankind freed from the shackles of religion. A happy day it will be when christianity, islam and judaism will be no more.
Jasonian Mapper Lol when started decline of byzantine? In 1071 battle of manzikert.100000-200000 byzantine vs 30000-40000 seljuk and we won.And this is not our first victory.Even we defeated them in Battle of Utus.
i have no idea how Ottomans won that battle. I really don't. but Ottomans weren't the only ones strong with fighting the Byzantines ....Bulgarians were the other ones . Battle of Achelous 917
Aleksandar Kan Byzantine's most strongest enemy was turks.Firstly Attila defeated them in 441 Utus.He came to constantinople even. Then Asparuh bulgar turk(not slavic bulgarian like today he was from old great bulgaria) defeated hem.In 1048 pasinler was also a war.But the turning point of byzantine history was 1071 manzikert.100000-200000 roman soldiers lost against 50000 seljuk soldier. And end of byzantine started here. Then after ottoman byzantine wars,in 1453 Mehmed II conquered constantinople with 50000 men and empire finished.
actually Attila was beaten by the Byzantines. I know he tried to invade them below the Danube river but was repulsed and kicked. Asparuh was Bulgar and the FIRST to make a country in Byzantine territory below the Danube river!! the creation of Bulgaria. 680/681 the Selujks were Turks right? I have no idea how Turks won the battle of Manzikert being that outnumbered. It's just not possible....the Byzantines are strong warriors but they are also very sneaky to make allies everywhere through dimplomacy skills and to attack you from all sides or to call on Crusaders for help . 1453 wasn't so impressive . 9.000 Byzantines against 100.000 + Turks ! nah not fair :D

We live on.
Btw wrong Rome
Romans may have died, but the Greeks succeeded them and shall rule the empire for once more.

is emperor david of trebizond considered a byzantine?
Trebizond was a separate kingdom later, BUT, they made a lot of songs of grief for the fall of Constantinople...
yes!it was considered the continuation of the empire but lasted only 8 years unfortunately...
@@unnamedindividual7135 You're from Trebizond? Do you speak Pontic?
David of Trebizond is as Byzantine (Christian GrecoRoman-Rum) as it gets. The Empire of Trebizond or the Trapezuntine Empire was a monarchy and one of three successor rump states of the Byzantine Empire that flourished during the 13th through 15th centuries, consisting of the far northeastern corner of Anatolia (the Pontus) and the southern Crimea.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_Trebizond
Since your mother and grandmother can speek pontic greek, this means you are without doubt of Eastern Roman-Byzantine descent.

People that lived there considered calling them Greeks as an insult.

i have no idea how Ottomans won that battle.
the Selujks were Turks right? I have no idea how Turks won the battle of Manzikert being that outnumbered. It's just not possible....the Byzantines are strong warriors but they are also very sneaky to make allies everywhere through dimplomacy skills and to attack you from all sides or to call on Crusaders for help .
1453 wasn't so impressive . 9.000 Byzantines against 100.000 + Turks ! nah not fair :D
