Don, You really are living the dream. That looks like Heaven to me. 3 or 4 days of that and I would be a new man. You must be doing something right. Good for you. I have forgotten your dogs name but WOW what a beautiful animal she turned out to be. She sure loves you. You are a blessed man my friend. Take care of yourself.
McDave, always nice to hear from you. I am indeed blessed to have the health and means to just go camping when I feel the pull. Hope all is well with you. It should be thawing out in MT by now. My German Shepherd's name is Lexus. Had her about three years. She is a great travel companion and security officer. 😄 Take care.
@@donsdoityourself2547 Hey Don, yup we've been up in the 30's- 40's lately but it's been snowing since Thurs. Nothing major but we're all ready to get outside and start the big push before its winter again. We are all good here, happy and healthy and getting better looking every year. LOL
Very Nice setup! I wanted the 991A really bad when it first came out but I already had 2 706MK2G’s so couldn’t justify buying it. Now i have the 7610 for a base and the 7100 in the truck plus then two 706’s in go boxes guess I got an ICOM bug. What vertical is that? I joined the WRC club at Hamcation this year so far its been good.
Thanks. I like ICOM also. I used to have the IC-7300 and I was using the IC-706MK before I got the FT-991A. I mainly wanted the FT-991A for the Pan Display as well as the easy integration with digital modes. I just recently sold my base station IC7300 and bought the Yaesu FTDX-10, so for now I am all Yaesu with the FTM-200 in the truck. The Antenna is a Chameleon MPAS-2.0. It works really good for me, is easy to set up and the FT-991A has no issue tuning it with the internal tuner.. which was another reason for the FT-991A. In any case, my call is KE4EVL. Maybe I'll catch you on the air sometime.
Thanks. The truck is a 2020 F250 with the 6.2L V8 gas engine. Gets about 12mpg towing even with the little trailer. I'd have preferred the 7.3L V8 , but was not available when I bought this truck. It is plenty for how I use it.
@@donsdoityourself2547 Thanks for the info. That is the mileage I have been getting towing my 6x12 V nose trailer/camper/ motorcycle hauler also. I'm currently towing with a 2017 police interceptor utility V/6 3.7L all wheel drive. It is a hot rod and goes like hell but is very thirsty. I'm looking for something that is better on fuel.
Yes, I understand. That will be hard given the same size trailer and all else being equal except the tow vehicle. Cannot cheat physic. It takes X amount of energy to pull the mass through the air. I could put the same trailer behind my 2022 Ford Maverick which gets about 30+ mpg on the highway, and I bet it would cut its gas mileage down in that range and not pull as well. It can supposedly pull 4,000 lbs, so I will try it one day and report findings. Best wishes.
Hi. The ramps mount underneath the trailer. Take a lookmat the video link. I show how I build and attach the ramp. Bike can go in the truck, but I use the trailer as a toy hauler for the dirtbike. ua-cam.com/video/Xw7LbF2KMs4/v-deo.html
@donsdoityourself2547 Great build out Don. Looks like you insulated the floor from underneath. Was thinking about that myself. Curious how the trailer handles with the axle modification. Do you use a tow stabilizer?
Thanks for sharing your adventures... I'm home fresh out of shoulder surgery.
Glad you are home recovering. I hope you heal fast so you can get back out there! Best wishes.

Your trailer doesn't have a ramp. Do you haul the cycle in the truck?
