Saved by the Bell is an American television sitcom created by Sam Bobrick for NBC. It was broadcast from August 20, 1989 to May 22, 1993. A retooling of the Disney Channel series Good Morning, Miss Bliss, the show follows a group of high school friends and their principal at the fictional Bayside High School in Los Angeles. The series starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Dennis Haskins, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, and Mario Lopez. Targeted at kids and teens, Saved by the Bell was broadcast in the United States on Saturday mornings.

None of them were 24 when they did this show. They were actually teenagers. Elizabeth Berkely was the oldest and she was only 20 by the time the show ended.

I remember 1993-1994 still having a weird 80s vibe, late 94/95 was when the 90s we know and love began
and some nations (like how I felt my own was some of the time) stayed in the eighties a little longer as they couldn't afford to license early nineties shows until well into late nineties. (fortunately this was around the time that Internationally synchronized releases were becoming a thing)

No Slater and Zack definitely were not the same. Slater was actually a good person in retrospect. Zack was a complete sociopath that exploited everybody to his advantage (including Slater). I think the worst that Slater got was stooping to Zack's low to get back at him a few times. But more often than not Zack is a horrible person lol, we didn't realize it at the time. Zack Morris is Trash explains it all so clearly! lol.

I don't think Zack was trash at all. Selfish and opportunistic, certainly...but he still cared about people for the most part. Of all his friends, his biggest allegiances were to Kelly and Screech, though Mr. Belding was "target number one" for his pranks. If you compare the two, Zack was a lot like a TV version of Ferris Bueller. Both could get away with almost anything - men wanted to be them, and women wanted to be with them.

no, i lived the 90's trying to relieve the 80's. actual 80's is better. this translates to every little thing someone must do now as per being in the public spotlight. it's why i don't see celebrities as ppl anymore. they are a brand. and there is a person dissuading them just as in this clip. it was a minor thing back then. now it's the norm.

Ok, I know this is a really old episode, but I have to say this. If I was directing "Save by the bell" I would have made it so that Zack found Becky earlier in the series, maybe with a broken wing. So that that way he could take care of her for a few episodes and the audience would get to feel and care for her better. Then on one episode he relizes that since Becky's wing is all better he has to release her to the school pond and he tells her that he will visit her. Then the next episode, will be the oil episode. Becky dies and now everyone is crying over the death of a character that meant a lot to everyone, even the audience. Hope you liked my idea.
That actually would be a pretty good idea. She could become like the little animal friend that a lot of t shows had. That would make her death all the more surprising and tragic.

I never got the appeal of this show. Any tv series that portrays high school as a fun place to be gets a giant middle finger in my book.

Then there was the time he broke Screech's heart by making moves on Lisa while taking credit for helping her set up a fashion show. Then the time he gambled away Screech's dog trying to win $250 to buy an Elvis bust he and the girls broke that was Screech's mom's most prized possession. I can't believe he and Kelly marry at the end of The College Years.

Actually, Mario Lopez was 16-20, Mark Paul Gosselaar was 15-19 and Dustin Diamonds was even 12-16 during the show. So none of them was "obviously 24".
The caffeine pill episode was one of my favorites. When it first aired I laughed so damn hard. I think we they did a mini reunion on Jimmy Fallon Elizabeth Berkeley even mocked it.
Nostalgia critic has the most soothing and gentle laugh known to man.
Caffeine pills? How do you get addicted to that? And even if you did I can't imagine it would be worse than just drinking a lot of coffee. Goodness knows there are plenty of people who can hardly start their day without a few cups.
I guess they were too afraid to do an episode on the harder drugs.

People wreck their lives on caffeine pills regularly mostly diet pills coffee isn’t high in caffeine you have to drink 10 to 12 cups to equal 1 pill and they generally take more than 1 at a time
And it can cause all kinds of heart issues
Pretty please With sugar on top 1 pill is equal to a 1 medium-large coffee. It’s 100mgs. Espresso’s can have up to 300mg of caffeine per cup.
The pills, Because they are over the counter “medications” , have to be sold in safe dosages. So a few pills won’t kill you, or be any worse than drinking a pot of coffee.
They are quite different than the diet pills you seem to be thinking of, those contain Ephedra(a methamphetamine chemical relative) and Caffeine. But, most stores have stopped stocking them, because they can be used in the production of a crystal meth alternative.
Caffeine is very addictive, lol. It's socially acceptable but addictive all the same.

And this show ended up with a couple more continued series like the college years and one next generation featuring the children of the original class and at least one episode of the next generation when Belding tells a story about the original kids to basically the same group of kids.

I always thought Mario Lopez actually knew how to play the drums simply because he played the drums in a tv show band way before Saved By the Bell, called Kids Incorporated. It was like the Mickey Mouse Club, the live-action group of singing kids not the cartoon
2008 ?! Man, Doug's been doing this for ages. Thankfully, he's still around and I still enjoy watching his videos (even though I only started watching him in 2011/2012, which IIRC was around the time the show was on hiatus).

If I remember correctly, on my local channel, saved by the bell came on later in the morning. The good cartoons came on early, and I hated it back then (course I usually went outside to play by the time it came on.) Also, the MeTV channel plays it on Sunday mornings, and all I can say is it's one of the few programs I absolutely loathe that is on the channel.

Hey Nostalgia Critic, loved this video as i watched this show religiously as a kid but i was wondering why you didn't touch on the fact that the Good Morning miss bliss episodes were integrated into the syndicated run of Saved by the bell and they even added an intro bit of Zack explaining that these were from years prior to the Bayside years, it's a pretty interesting bit of TV trivia i can't really recall any other shows doing anything like that.
