    Here instead of rectangle and then assigning Perf E, can I take box and assign the material gold? then what would be the change in position?

    Respected Sir,
    Why did we not use a lumped port as it was done in microstrip? Is it possible to anyhow use a lumped port in CPW? Please help.

    Can we do this simulation in the student version of ANSYS HFSS? Please clarify

    Sir, why we have two different values of port impedance Z0?

    Why isn’t S11 = S22? Isn’t the design symmetric?

    • @RFDesignbasics
      @RFDesignbasics  4 роки тому +1

      Slight difference may be there due to slight desymmetry of whole structure including airbox.

    nice vdo..is there any justification to set the size of the wave port..and why two port has been considered..

    • @RFDesignbasics
      @RFDesignbasics  4 роки тому +1

      The size is considered as per the document tutorial for HFSS. Two port is taken for checking transmission coefficient of the CPW line. If using in CPW antenna, only single port is needed.

    How to decide size of waveport? It has to be given both sides why?

    • @jacobrandall4891
      @jacobrandall4891 Рік тому

      rule of thumb is to have the waveport be 4*the width of the trace, and as tall as 4*the height of the substrate. makes sure the bottom of the wave port touches the bottom ground plane

    Is there any online site where we can determine gap size with our dimensions?

      I don't know any online services, but there is quite famous txline program, which is free.

      so there's a few calculators, but I suggest referring to T line design handbook by Waddell. he has formula for CPW on page 73 which involves solving the elliptical integral of the first kind. there's a matlab function that you can plug that argument into that is based on the gap width and trace width.
      My recommendation is to pick a trace width, then solve for impedance as a function of gap width. then pick the gap width that yields 50 Ohm

    Thank you so much for very helpful video. I have one question. Why are there two dips (valley) around 3 GHz and 8 GHz in the reflection lines(S11 & S22)? Thanks in advance.

      @@gurumiya Hi Hanna , I found that this is the reflection between two ports . Though they are impedance matched, still slight difference causes the reflection dips . Let me know if you have any other queries.

      @@Deep_1603 oh thanks. I have one more question about simulation. What is deembed of waveport in HFSS? Why it used in the design? And when i use deembed with -100cm of both port, the two dips occur in more cycles.

    • @Deep_1603
      @Deep_1603 2 роки тому

      @@gurumiya As per my knowledge, one uses this feature for PCB designing. If the actual ( let's say SMP connectors ) ports are far away (let's say 2 cm) from the launch pad ( or the ends of the stripline ), one can use deembed feature to define the distance between the ports and the launch pads.
