Building Trust and Transparency with Guest & Catellus EVP, Greg Weaver

On this episode of Mistakes Over Failure, Leslie and Christine has a conversation with Greg Weaver, the Executive Vice President with Catellus Development, and he has some great insights to share about his experiences working on the Mueller Airport redevelopment project in Austin, Texas.
Weaver emphasized the importance of building trust, transparency, and consistent team members when it comes to achieving success. The project's main goal was to revitalize a poor socioeconomic area by bringing in amenities such as grocery stores, parks, employment opportunities, and medical care, all with the aim of promoting diversity, sustainability, affordability, and inclusivity.
Of course, with any large-scale redevelopment project like this, there were challenges to overcome, particularly when it came to maintaining core values in the face of gentrification and displacement. Weaver stresses the importance of commitment, long-term vision, and leaning into adversity to ensure that the project stayed on track.
Weaver attributes the success of the Mueller project to the collaboration between individuals, institutions of the community, and the developer.
