I bought one on Amazon, I returned it 2 days later because the tone turned muffled. I compared it with another guitar I have and determined that it was the LTD. It was a shame since it was such a beautiful guitar
Weird! You might have gotten a lemon. Also... Amazon is notorious for return scams. You might have gotten a guitar where someone swapped the pickup or other electronics and returned it just to have the Amazon warehouse put it back into inventory. It sounds muddy. I don't know if it was your amp settings or what. Can you clean it up to bring in some more treble or is that the actual sound?

The more expensive model has ebony fingerboard, locking tuners, and stainless steel frets, upgraded pickups Other than that, it plays the same.
Do the pickups require a battery or not?
They are passive, no battery. And the tone knob had push pull.

Yes. Trash pickups and no resonans in the body. Most dead sustain guitar I tested for years. All this is trash sales talk. Sorry but true
