great video man, I've owned 4 les pauls in my life, they were my dream guitar until i played an LTD Ec-1000, I now have an LTD and an E-ii eclipse and will never go back to a gibson les paul!!!
I tried out the EC-1000T CTM in a shop yesterday and was genuinely blown away by how good it felt and sounded compared to my Gibson Explorer (which I still love). The top line ESP/LTD guitars just ooze quality and consistency.
I have an Epiphone Matt Heafy custom. Fishmans, super slim neck, carve out at neck joint for fret access, locking tuners, strap locks, ebony fretboard, modern weight relief, graphtek nut, heavy duty output jack. It’s what a modern Gibson should be. The finish and hand work done on it is awesome too.
I’ve had one of the 1st Matt Heafy signatures with the active EMGs for a couple months. It needs about $400 of professional work done (new nut, setup, possible electrical issues) to bring it up to par. The seller reached out to me today wanting to buy it back. That’s why I’m now watching EC-1000 videos.
Gibson needs to majorly check their quality as well. Played 8 of them between 2 stores, and they all had binding flaws, gaps and small separation from the body, which is wild for a guitar with that price. I couldn’t do it, esp quality is night and day. Good video by the way 🤘🏼
Longtime LP fan here for decades, have several and a couple Specials. Got an Ltd EC-256 FM last Fall, first time for Ltd, and it is fantastic. I highly recommend Les Paul fans check out an EC. They're similar in ways but definitely not the same. Very nice sound playing single-coil too. I will probably get another EC eventually but I'm glad to have at least one.
The Edward’s guitars (made by ESP) are pretty close replicas of the Les Paul (which is why they can’t sell them in the US) and they are probably cheaper than an LTD. You’ll have to import it though - but can be done. They are very good quality too.
I really tried like hell to like Les Pauls. Now I have 8 EC1000's that just blow every Gibson I've played away. I still pick up a Les Paul whenever I go to a guitar store and see if I'll find one that'll change my mind. 20 years later and still empty handed. I've got every variation of the EC1000. My favorite have the abalone inlays. The full thickness sounds so good and the Floyd Rose version just rips!
I almost got a free LP off my uncle years ago when I was like 10 but I didn't practice enough so he gave it to someone else. Now here I am in basically the same boat, I got an ESP bass and love the thing. They just produce quality for a fraction of the price.
I've had an epiphone les Paul Matt Heafy and i had it for about 4 years but rarely played it over my schecter because it weighed a tonne, I've now sold the Matt Heafy and im going for an esp ec-401
I've been playing Les Paul's since the early 90's and while I still love playing them, my 53 year old back does not. These LTD EC-1000's look like a great choice and a lot of bang for your buck. I really like the lighter weight, huge stainless frets and better upper fret access. What's interesting about your video is that you say these guitars are chambered or hollowed out on the inside. I'm just wondering where you learned that? I don't see that information posted on the ESP website? Thanks for posting.
Very interesting, I just check esp's website, and the ec-1000t is no longer listed on there, I guess they have since been discontinued. However I double checked on guitar center and the honey burst ec-1000t's are indeed chambered, and there are still plenty of used ones listed on a bunch of websites. I looked at the ec-1000t ctm's that are still listed on esp's website, and while the vintage gold satin, charcoal burst, and violet shadow versions are not chambered, the tobacco sunburst satin version is. Most curious. Also remember if you're looking for ones that comes with stainless steel frets, make sure it's one made after 2021, that's the year they started putting them on all their 1000 series models! Thanks for watching!
Great video 👏👍 Gibson needs to do something for modern guitarists. I ❤ my Gibson Les Paul Standard Desert Burst 2016 but when compared to my ESP E-II Eclipse II DB Vintage Black, I ❤ the Eclipse II even better because of modern specifications that I need for my playability 😎 So, I decided to sell my Gibson Les Paul but bare in mind, I still have & ❤ my Gibson Flying V 2007 which the sound & the playability (playing rhythm/riff) really kick some ass 🤘🔥
Nice job bro 👍. Like you, Gibson LP was always my dream guitar. I currently have 2 of them (Classics modded to Standard specs) that I really like. But I am now also looking at a pretty good deal on a nice 2018 EC-1000. This video definitely answered a lot of my questions. Thanks! 🤘
i literally just bought an ec100 and a studio. I honestly really love the cutaway on the ec1000. Gibson really should be doing that. The feel is soooo much nicer. I 100% agree with you about the tuner buttons. First thing i changed on the les pal studio, gotta have the tulip/keystone tuners. Gibson should be taking some notes from esp
Another great video, Den! We couldn't be more on the same page. As an owner of a Gibson Standard 60's Les Paul (Bourbon Burst) that I basically stole for $1800, I was looking for a good but cheap practice guitar that I could leave at my office. I bought an ESP LTD EC-256 for under $400 bucks. I was absolutely floored how good it was and how similar the neck feel is to my Gibson. So good in fact, I'm ordering the EC-1000T CTM in that gorgeous Vintage Gold Satin (another great unboxing video from you BTW, and happy to see it made a nice guest appearance in this video). Can't wait! I do have to disagree with you on the Grover kidney tuners though. Besides great performance, I think they look awesome. The purists are going to shit themselves over that as well. 🤘
Haha I think the kidney button shape works on other guitars, I just love the way keystones look on single cuts! Thanks for watching and for the support man, hope you love your Vintage Gold Satin beast as much as I love mine!
@@DenDenBMX Great job with this video. The always clean satin finish is awesome. Some EC's have a taped-off satin neck only deal, so there's a different finish on the same contiguous piece, which is aesthetically as offensive as kidney shaped tuners. The only thing EC-1000s have wrong imo is that most are gloss finished. I tried an Epi LP Modern once, and like you I thought it had begrudging half measures. The carve is not elegant looking and is only slightly helpful. It's light but it has an airy chambered sound. Better to make it 1.75" thick and 24 frets to compact the body a little bit, then it would average something like 7 lbs 14. Then Schecter's Solo-II Custom has a lot of things right, but it doesn't have stainless steel, but they did spring for real mother of pearl inlays. If you have to pick one of those two features on the fretboard, the choice is obvious. If Epi LP Modern came in both 22/24 fret + steel + a decent neck joint, I'd pick Epi over LTD but right now no one really compares with what LTD is doing.
Appreciate this video brother. I’ve had about 6 Les Paul’s and never could quite understand why so expensive and all the fuss. Haven’t owned an ETC1000 but am very interested
I've never owned a Gibson but i do have a epiphone les paul custom and i bought a b stock ltd ec-1000 with emg pickups about 1 year ago and i haven't touched the epiphone since. I love the ltd and its way lighter.
That Gibson has a beautiful top ! Good video.. It's also my dream guitar although I know it won't be my most played guitar. I'm an emg guy but will be leaving the burstbuckers in my Gibson LP. I have fishmans in my epiphone prophecy already and have Demarzio on an Ibanez, fender HSS . My schecter hellraiser is my most played guitar , Ibanez close behind. Fender and Gibson LP will be my old rock and blues guitars. Oh do have SG with p90s as well Have a great day.
Ltd knocks it out of the PARK! Ive owned many of BOTH Companies. They should really make a few with Jumbo frets and chamber more of them. My 2 cents haha. Great playing!
I love the frets LTD uses but using them on literally every model is a bit much I will admit haha, and I wish Gibson offered more chambering as well but the elitists love hurting their back because they think it increases sustain, thanks for watching!
I have the EC1000T (not the CTM, mine has the Fishman open core classics) in red, but mine has stainless steel frets. I got it near the end of '22 though so maybe they made some adjustments. In any case, this guitar looks and plays beautifully. Only thing I might do at some point, based solely on my own preferences, is swap the plastic (resin?) nut for bone and switch the Fishman's out for some SD Blackouts.
Same applies to every brand, for instance, i own an ltd ec-1000 and an ESP eclipse custom shop both of them have the same pickups, i find an easiness of playability with my ec-1000 but i choose to play with my custom shop because in my mind its a custom shop, even if blindfolded i would probably find it difficult to distinquish them but its all in the mindset.
that's what's crazy with esp/ltd. I think a lot of people would agree a murphy lab would blow an epiphone out of the water, but ltd's quality is just literally so good that you almost can't tell any difference between an ltd/e-ii/esp. I've played a kirk hammett ltd and esp custom back to back and if my eyes were closed I'd think they're almost the same guitar
I personally have a spalted maple ec 1000 that was a guitar center exclusive. I absolutely adore it and honestly it has better specs than a Gibson for my preferences as a metal guitarist. I’m not a huge fan of the gloss finish on my ltd but I bought it during guitar-a-thon for like 700 bucks which was a steal. ESP is defenitely one of the top companies right now. I mean I have even played one of those gibson b-2 Flying V and I prefer my solar v way more. It has better specs for me.
My main guitar in the early 2000's Was an ESP LTD . Pretty much a Clone of the " Tuxedo" Les Paul With all the abalone trim and active Pickups. Lots of Nickelback,Creed Etc. Many times guitarists would ask To play the ESP thinking it was a Gibson. Most were shocked it wasn't A Gibson and what a badass axe it was.😮
100% I had a Gibson LEs Paul but my ESP EC401QM with Active EMG's really schools that Gibson in every way; it having a volute is also a bonus, along with the great headstock and ebony board and volute Its my fav guitar EVeR! 😎
Something you didn't pickup on, the ESP doesnt have pickup covers and thats something I like as I feel it adds a touch of extra bite to the sound. Both are fab guitars imo but I agree the ESP out pauls the Gibson😂
I have the same exact color! I love mine!! One of the differences I noticed between the LP and the LTD was buried inside the chambers for the pickups. The Gibson had wood chips that were painted in place. Although not very nice to look at it does prove my Les Paul was manufactured before the discovery of compressed air. In fact I have a pair of Les Paul heavyweights that cost a small fortune and both of them were built before the miscellaneous wood chip issue was finally solved. The ESP body was free of debris upon disassembly. I could only surmise that while I was sleeping one day someone was busy at the ESP factory paying attention to detail and cleared the chips out of the body after it was milled. Maybe they turned it over and let them fall out somehow. Hard to say for sure. No doubt Gibson had several people handling the guitars in production. So it wasn't like one guy not giving a shit. It was a few people. The guy with the paint sprayer didn't see them? Hard to believe. Now they do look nice when all the hardware is in place. For the price they get you would think they put a little more effort into earning the premium. Or at least looking after their reputation. Another thing is the weight. I hardly pick up one of the LP's unless I want to play an alt tuning. I keep them available just for that purpose. The ESP is better in every way in my world.
We all love music and this is our common ground - when it comes to equipment - it's a personal choice- each guitar that I have kept i like the way it feels when I hold it - brand does not matter as I have held many many guitars and only held a few that actually felt good to me and those guitars came home with me - does that make the other guitars poor - no it does not - - Gibson guitars in my view are just OK - not a fan of the necks, weight, price have one now and am selling it - I enjoy a fast neck and light weight guitars - DenDenBMX thank you for the great video - respectfully - just another music lover
Well it's interesting. I have 96 Gibson Les Paul Studio and now I'm testing EC-1000 with floyd rose I borrowed from my pal. EC-1000 is nice, has slimmer neck, comfort cut and plays great despite EMG 81/60 pickups. Well, they're fine fine for shredding or soloing but they lack clarity for riffs playing in my opinion. I prefer passive pickups. I'm not so fond of the fretboard radius and I prefer Gibson control layout. However EC-1000 I've tested is an amazing instrument. Saying all that, when I pick up my LP it feels like home to me. Yeah it's heavy, frets need to be replaced, but man. Having 6 guitars in my collection and playing thorugh many many more, when I come back to my LP playing it seems much easier and it sounds so good. Knowing that I played theoreticaly much more comfortable guitars and I still go back to my LP, I've came up with a theory. I just spent so much time playing and practising on my LP, I adjusted to the guitar that's why I love it so much. Many of my friends tend to gravitate to style or shape of a guitar they spent the most time on when learning and practising. To be fair, my Gibson has swapped tuners to Grover locking tuners. I also swapped pickups to Seymour duncan APH-1 and Merlin MPH (Polish Manufacturer, Humbucker sized P90). Gibson is not perfect, in my opinion they are massively overpriced. I had the luck of buying my LP second hand at a very good price at the time. If I was to recommend one of those two guitars to a friend I would totally recommend EC-1000. However my Gibson is perfect for me, this particular guitar. I've tested the same model, Gibson Les Paul Studio even the same color but 4 years newer and it wasn't the same. I think it all comes up to on which guitar you spent the most time playing and that becomes your number one. Not because it's unique or has magic unicorn dust betweend the grains of wood but because you adapt and get used to the guitar.
haha the zebra pickups are my least favorite color scheme for pickups, I still like it don't get me wrong, just not as much as all black or all white pickups, subjectivity rears its head once again, thanks for watching!
I would have thought weight relieved or body chambering would add resonance. Also active pickups will always have better sustain on the same guitar due to having very little magnetic resistance. Id go emg myself, always found fluence to be too quacky sounding.
I have dozens of guitars including many Gibsons . I pretty much use my Gibson LP Studio exclusively. I also have several LP copies which I think I really Great playing guitars . I did change the pickups on a few of them because while the guitars were nice the electronics weren’t . I still love Gibsons and continue to collect them but they are more like Collecting art to me and I really Don’t play them . I do have my eyes on one of these guitars because while not expensive I would like an example in my collection . They seem solid
I'm long time Gibson Fender, tried all the copy's, ESP is good, Tokai is good Eastman is good. The problem with all these copies is not the playing, it's the investment value. With few exceptions you will get your money back on a Gibson.
i was gonna spend the money to buy an LP modern but man.. schecter and esp makes me go 👀👀👀👀!! also, once i tried the esp neck and the schecter ultra thin neck with jumbo XL ss frets i cant go back.. i mean why would i? everything they have to offer is better.. in every way, shape and form.. the only thing is that gibson has a name and legacy.. thats it.. and probably the only thing keeping them in business..
Stainless steel frets DO wear. They just wear slower than that I do agree Gibson should put some modern features in the Les Paul Modern line. The Ltd looks stunning.
I am just a bedroom player playing for my pleasure only. I have one USA F strat and a G Tribute, both bought used for a very good price. They are nice guitars, but my other guitars aren't worse. I also like my cheap China Squier strat from the 90-ies, the only guitar I bought new, and my very cheap Harley Benton SC 450 plus. My Yamaha 612 is amazing, as my Ibanez RG 370 DX and my PRS Se custom 24 and one more LP-style SPEAR guitar. I admit though that brand names have an influence also on me and if I would sell my Fender and Gibson, what I won't , I could even make a profit. Maybe these expensive guitars are really better than all the others I have, then maybe I am just too stupid to see or feel the differences. I am using an old Boss GT 100 and have about 10 Boss pedals which I put in front of the GT 100. Whether my guitars sound shit or awesome depends on how I use my gear, it doesn't depend on the guitars so much. Anyway, I have found a pleasant sound with that gear which is inspiring me to play. Okay, one needs some good gear, but there is no need to spend thousands and thousands of dollars in order to enjoy your hobby. I am very happy with what I have a my disposal. No need for other gear. That's why I prefer channel with educational content more than those which review new gear. Every month you could see new guitars, amps and pedals. That's just too much, for me at least. Guitar is only one of my hobbies - a very beautiful one indeed, but there are many other nice things to do as well.
what's wrong with the headstock? it's supposed to be the shape of ESP's flag logo, at least it's the same headstock that comes on ESP's and they don't do as much stupid artificial product differentiation as gibson with epiphone. I prefer this headstock over epiphone's headstocks
Great video. However.... went a week ago to Sam Ash, WANTED to buy Eclipse. Never had single cut in my life before. There is NO comparison. Gibson LP Standard is the real deal, everything else is lying to yourself. Gladly spent 2700$, LOVE IT.
haha like I said, I still love my les paul just as much as the day I got it, I had just noticed I wasn't playing it as much as my ec-1000s at the time, i'm glad you got the guitar that you wanted and spoke to you and i'm glad you're stoked on it! Thanks for watching!
Awesome comparison. I'm an ESP guy myself. The tonal difference between the 2 is like comparing an 8 Track to a high quality MP3. 🤣 At one point, sounded like the Gibson humbuckers were mono, and the Open Core were stereo. Great job.
I had the opposite experience. The LTD felt better, stayed in tune better and was easier to play but real Gibson Les Pauls just sound better no matter what pickups i put in, which is why I traded it for a real LP. I'm vindicated by this video. Literally every audio clip the Gibson just sounds thicker and warmer.
It's all I play LTD EC 1000. I know what you mean about Gibson people they still think it's 1978. ESP is a far superior guitar company. If you want to spend 2500.00 spend it on the ESP E-II No Gibson Les Paul can touch those beasts.
Cause esp makes better guitars than Gibson and have for as long as they've existed. I tried to buy a Gibson, played a tribute and then an EC256.... The ec256 felt better and after i installed alnico 2 pafs it sounded mich better, with a thinner neck and without the obnoxious and completely unnecessary 2nd tone knob. I had enough change to buy a bass and 1st acoustic for my niece. Ive met a lot of professional musicians and more of them play esp/ltd than Gibson, most Gibson owners are old white collar weiners that have too much money will never play a show.
@@maxsalmon1573the guitar tone comes from the neck . There is no way that the ESP will sound like Gibson . You can tell the difference especially if you roll the volume knob down you will hear a big difference
I know I'm a Gibson purist, I have two Standards, one USA and one Custom Shop, and I while I recognise Gibsons have their flaws, I could never play anything other than a Gibson Les Paul. Do I try to impose my preference on others? Ansolutely not, and I have never put down any other brand for what I know to be my own personal preference. To me the LTD sounds too dry. But that means fuck all because I'm not the one playing it. To each their own, mate
This should be the view that everyone has on their favorite whatever, I've personally reached the point to where Gibson isn't really a brand I want to support anymore, but when their guitars are free of any QC issues they really are something special, but the toxic fandom really does need to chill. Thanks for watching!

In my opinion, Gibson should slowly stop selling their vintage stuff all together little by little and focus on new things. Traditional and Classics should come only as reissues with the deserved plus in pricing.
I agree on most of thiis especially the locking tuners. But I’m not a fan of active pups. My biggest issue with Gibson is the pretentious pricing. $1500 for the modern lite toy, and 2k for a LP studio? Gibson needs to gtfoh.
One day, youtubers will learn to just get to the point without wasting a quarter of the runtime talking about nonsense. I don't care what "Gibson fanboys" are going to comment, just talk about the damn guitars lol
also, is that a Soul Eater tattoo on your left shoulder? O_O anyway go get the iPhone 13 or 14; as much as anybody in the internet says, iPhone has better real-world implications.
yessir it is! I don't like Iphones, I know their camera's are king for video, but I'm an android phone guy and I think the pixel or s23 ultra get pretty close for videos, I've since replaced my pixel with the galaxy s23 ultra
Gibson fans dislike consistant and well made guitars and pickups because when they spend hours days or years finding a giitar they like its must be "magic and full of mojo"
Gibson? There's several much more modern Les Pauls and other Gibson models... THIS one is a purposely traditional guitar. People buy it because they do not want modern features or tone. In fact, whenever Gibson tries new stuff on the Les Pauls, the elitists go haywire. I think the recent formula is perfect: have a traditional/classic line, and a more modern/experimental line which doesn't deviate too far from the familiar standard of a Les Paul. Not to mention other models...
Let's be honest. A lot of guitar fans will never record an album. Many won't even play in front of people. The ESP Ltd just makes so much more sense.
This man do be speaking factual information
Even if you're doing those things the ESP makes more sense. Having a 2k+ guitar sitting in a case by the stage when you're trying to get a drink before going on stage or chatting with people after is stressful. A guitar case that says Gibson on the outside might as well say steal me I'm valuable .

I ran into this guitar at a shop this week. Didn't really know what it was but picked it up to try it out. I was really surprised! Played pretty well
I have yet to play an LTD that doesn't almost play itself
Surprised how good the ESP sounded. Never been a fan of active pickups but these sounded great!
that's what I like about fishman open core classics, they are active pickups but all 3 voicings are very passive sounding
I think EMGs gave actives a bad name.

I bought so many high end guitars trying to find the ultimate and i just always come back to my ec1000. It just fucking slays
I'M SAYIN!
The last clean LTD sound killed It!!
Voice 2 on the neck pickup for cleans is perfect
Nice job bro 👍. Like you, Gibson LP was always my dream guitar. I currently have 2 of them (Classics modded to Standard specs) that I really like. But I am now also looking at a pretty good deal on a nice 2018 EC-1000. This video definitely answered a lot of my questions. Thanks! 🤘
Thank you for watching!
I have Les Pauls (Standards, Deluxes, and Customs), as well as EC-1000s (Duncans and EMGs). I love both, and every guitar has its own personality.
Very very true my friend, thanks for watching!
i literally just bought an ec100 and a studio.
LTD SUPREMACY
I’d love to see the same comparison with the pickups switched and see what the difference is.
That would be very interesting!
I highly recommend your next single cut is an LTD! Thanks for watching!
I've never owned a Gibson but i do have a epiphone les paul custom and i bought a b stock ltd ec-1000 with emg pickups about 1 year ago and i haven't touched the epiphone since. I love the ltd and its way lighter.
LTD'S ARE AMAZING
That Gibson has a beautiful top !
Good video..
It's also my dream guitar although I know it won't be my most played guitar. I'm an emg guy but will be leaving the burstbuckers in my Gibson LP.
I have fishmans in my epiphone prophecy already and have Demarzio on an Ibanez, fender HSS .
My schecter hellraiser is my most played guitar , Ibanez close behind.
Fender and Gibson LP will be my old rock and blues guitars.
Oh do have SG with p90s as well
Have a great day.
thanks for watching!
I dont know but gibson has a little warm crunch and mellow sound to it
Ltd knocks it out of the PARK!
Very professional review!!!
thank you for watching dude!
I have the EC1000T (not the CTM, mine has the Fishman open core classics) in red, but mine has stainless steel frets. I got it near the end of '22 though so maybe they made some adjustments. In any case, this guitar looks and plays beautifully. Only thing I might do at some point, based solely on my own preferences, is swap the plastic (resin?) nut for bone and switch the Fishman's out for some SD Blackouts.
yeah the plastic nut ltd's have is like genuinely one of the only criticisms I see about ltds, thanks for watching!
I like playing my LTD H200 more than my Gibson with EMGs TBH. Been that way for 20+ years.
Seems like most people are in the same boat tbh
I personally have a spalted maple ec 1000 that was a guitar center exclusive. I absolutely adore it and honestly it has better specs than a Gibson for my preferences as a metal guitarist. I’m not a huge fan of the gloss finish on my ltd but I bought it during guitar-a-thon for like 700 bucks which was a steal. ESP is defenitely one of the top companies right now. I mean I have even played one of those gibson b-2 Flying V and I prefer my solar v way more. It has better specs for me.
ESP IS KING
My main guitar in the early 2000's
Was an ESP LTD . Pretty much a
Clone of the " Tuxedo" Les Paul
With all the abalone trim and active
Pickups. Lots of Nickelback,Creed
Etc. Many times guitarists would ask
To play the ESP thinking it was a Gibson. Most were shocked it wasn't
A Gibson and what a badass axe it was.😮
aw hell yeah! thanks for watching!
100% I had a Gibson LEs Paul but my ESP EC401QM with Active EMG's really schools that Gibson in every way; it having a volute is also a bonus, along with the great headstock and ebony board and volute Its my fav guitar EVeR! 😎
LTD SUPREMACY
@@DenDenBMX😎 oh and a volute
I have an early 2000”s Eclipse with the ESP logo and it’s one of the best guitars I own
sounds like you got a made in japan one so i'm not surprised!
Something you didn't pickup on,
the ESP doesnt have pickup covers and thats something I like as I feel it adds a touch of extra bite to the sound.
Both are fab guitars imo but I agree the ESP out pauls the Gibson😂
very true friend
The ESP is better in every way in my world.
very interesting insight, thanks for watching man!
What amp is that?
I'm using my Neural DSP Petrucci plugin for this video
We all love music and this is our common ground - when it comes to equipment - it's a personal choice- each guitar that I have kept i like the way it feels when I hold it - brand does not matter as I have held many many guitars and only held a few that actually felt good to me and those guitars came home with me - does that make the other guitars poor - no it does not - - Gibson guitars in my view are just OK - not a fan of the necks, weight, price have one now and am selling it - I enjoy a fast neck and light weight guitars - DenDenBMX thank you for the great video - respectfully - just another music lover
thank you for watching!
I saw the thumbnail and was like that looks just like a guy I watch for bmx. You can't have all the talents it's not fair
Not because it's unique or has magic unicorn dust betweend the grains of wood but because you adapt and get used to the guitar.
maybe throw some fishman classics into that ec-1000 if you don't like the emgs, thanks for watching!
Only thing i would disagree with is active pickups. Most don't want that IMO and should only be an option rather than considered a "modern" feature.
well if not actives then they should at least put bare knuckles or some other modern pickups
I also prefer my LTD. Btw, love the Battery and Fight Fire With Fire by Metallica at the end of the video.
I have and love ESP guitars, and also have Gibson Les Pauls. With that said, I still prefer the overall tone of the Gibson in your video.
I like the way both sound, that's why I have both haha, thanks for watching!
The non ctm ltd you have also has stainless steel frets
unfortunately my friend it does not, it was made in 2012, long before stainless steel frets became standard on 1000 models
@@DenDenBMX it looks brand new :O
Also the zebra pickups look really nice, all black uncovered look like cheap epiphone les paul, and all cream looks like chibson knockoffs
haha the zebra pickups are my least favorite color scheme for pickups, I still like it don't get me wrong, just not as much as all black or all white pickups, subjectivity rears its head once again, thanks for watching!
I would have thought weight relieved or body chambering would add resonance. Also active pickups will always have better sustain on the same guitar due to having very little magnetic resistance. Id go emg myself, always found fluence to be too quacky sounding.
I like both emgs and fishmans! thanks for watching!
I brought back my Les Paul Standard, for an EC 1000 Fluence Andromeda.. so much better right out of the box
Gibson's quality control is pretty embarrassing when you can blatantly see how easy it is for other brands like LTD or PRS to be consistently good
I have dozens of guitars including many Gibsons . I pretty much use my Gibson LP Studio exclusively. I also have several LP copies which I think I really Great playing guitars . I did change the pickups on a few of them because while the guitars were nice the electronics weren’t . I still love Gibsons and continue to collect them but they are more like
Collecting art to me and I really
Don’t play them . I do have my eyes on one of these guitars because while not expensive I would like an example in my collection . They seem solid
Careful if you do end up getting an ltd, it just might ruin every other guitar for you, thanks for watching!
Did your Les Paul come with a pick guard?
Yessir! I just took it off earlier this year to see what it'd look like and just left it off
@@DenDenBMX I love how it looks off. Awesome guitar man
I'm long time Gibson Fender, tried all the copy's, ESP is good, Tokai is good Eastman is good. The problem with all these copies is not the playing, it's the investment value. With few exceptions you will get your money back on a Gibson.
eh, I don't really buy my guitars as investments, you are correct that few guitars hold value like Gibsons... for some goofy reason
For the love of God is my favorite Steve Vai tune

i was gonna spend the money to buy an LP modern but man.. schecter and esp makes me go 👀👀👀👀!! also, once i tried the esp neck and the schecter ultra thin neck with jumbo XL ss frets i cant go back.. i mean why would i? everything they have to offer is better.. in every way, shape and form.. the only thing is that gibson has a name and legacy.. thats it.. and probably the only thing keeping them in business..
Try out the tokai les pauls , you will love them❤
I really do wanna get a MIJ les paul at some point, I'll probably go for an edwards or burny tho
The way I see it if you love the guitar enough to always want to play it and get better isn't that the best guitar really?
that's a fair point
Can you weigh it?
weigh what?
@@DenDenBMX By any chance both guitars..
Stainless steel frets DO wear. They just wear slower than that I do agree Gibson should put some modern features in the Les Paul Modern line. The Ltd looks stunning.
That is true, I didn't mean literally indestructible, but I doubt I'll ever need to do a refret on it in my lifetime, thanks for watching!
@@DenDenBMX enjoy the hell out of it and you’ll see the results in the future 🤘🏻

My Yamaha 612 is amazing, as my Ibanez RG 370 DX and my PRS Se custom 24
and one more LP-style SPEAR guitar.
I just bought one for 400. Fuckin love it.
Aw hell yeah!
For me the only thing that would stop me from owning a LTD is that headstock 😳
what's wrong with the headstock? it's supposed to be the shape of ESP's flag logo, at least it's the same headstock that comes on ESP's and they don't do as much stupid artificial product differentiation as gibson with epiphone. I prefer this headstock over epiphone's headstocks
@@DenDenBMX it’s not appealing to me I couldn’t pay for it sorry my opinion is different from yours 😉
LTD ESP guitar sounds great .
that they do my friend, thanks for watching!
Great job.
haha glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Gibson purist and joy for sciatica go hand in hand
it's true I have sciatica lol
I had the opposite experience. The LTD felt better, stayed in tune better and was easier to play but real Gibson Les Pauls just sound better no matter what pickups i put in, which is why I traded it for a real LP. I'm vindicated by this video. Literally every audio clip the Gibson just sounds thicker and warmer.

It's all I play LTD EC 1000. I know what you mean about Gibson people they still think it's 1978. ESP is a far superior guitar company. If you want to spend 2500.00 spend it on the ESP E-II No Gibson Les Paul can touch those beasts.
this guy gets it
4:21 sounds like my marriage!
oh boi
Cause esp makes better guitars than Gibson and have for as long as they've existed. I tried to buy a Gibson, played a tribute and then an EC256.... The ec256 felt better and after i installed alnico 2 pafs it sounded mich better, with a thinner neck and without the obnoxious and completely unnecessary 2nd tone knob. I had enough change to buy a bass and 1st acoustic for my niece. Ive met a lot of professional musicians and more of them play esp/ltd than Gibson, most Gibson owners are old white collar weiners that have too much money will never play a show.

If you like more the Gibson sound , just put the gibson pickups on the LTD , you got the better guitar with the sound you like

In my opinion, Gibson should slowly stop selling their vintage stuff all together little by little and focus on new things. Traditional and Classics should come only as reissues with the deserved plus in pricing.
that would be crazy but they would never do that haha, their brand is quite literally held up by nostalgia
I agree on most of thiis especially the locking tuners. But I’m not a fan of active pups. My biggest issue with Gibson is the pretentious pricing. $1500 for the modern lite toy, and 2k for a LP studio? Gibson needs to gtfoh.
