How to stop hitting and biting by your toddler. Parents become concerned when their toddlers and babies start to become aggressive and start scratching, hitting or biting other children. As a twin dad, I share my interpretation of the guidelines presented by the following FIVE websites when it comes to dealing with kids who hit or bite others:
    parents.com
    babycenter.com
    psychologytoday.com
    positiveparentingsolutions.com
    ahaparenting.com
I make comparisons between what would be considered a 'conventional method of parenting' vs 'positive parenting' in dealing with aggression in children between the age of 0 to 36 months.

When did you first notice your kid hitting/biting/scratching? How long did the behaviour last? Are they over it now?

Agree with you, man! You have to address the source of where the behavior is stemming from. We can do our children a disservice by being so consumed with behavior modification and not parenting and teaching.

So right! It takes more effort mentally and emotionally but it needs to be done so we are not sweeping important issues ‘under the rug’ 😊👍

@@DaddyDirective, exactly. If the root isn’t addressed, it’ll just continue to cycle back again. I vividly remember the biting stage. lol. Good times!

I am still going through it with my daughter. She gets a little rough with her hands and our son always ends up on the receiving end. But I noticed her doing this under certain conditions and ‘triggers’ so I am now able to manage a little bit better and she is already showing less of the behaviour. 😊

@@DaddyDirective, that’s great, man. Our oldest wasn’t really bad about hitting, but our youngest was TERRIBLE about it. He outgrew it, but it really made us question ourselves as parents, because we weren’t used to it with our oldest. Lol.

It was comforting to know through the research that it is a natural part of the development and nothing that we did wrong as parents... phew! I guess your youngest was just more assertive in expressing himself and it just came out in that way 😉👍

I wouldn’t be good at handling any of this 😂
