  • The reason I did a setup before changing strings and tuning machines was because I needed to make sure this on was worth keeping. Thanks again for Gary at Musician's Friend. You da MAN!

    Word of advice for everyone ... check the electronics before going through setting up your bass. It'll save you wasting a bunch of time if the wiring or pickups are bad ...

    I have the 5 string version in honey satin. Gonna be ordering the 4 string version in the same color as my 5.
    Love these basses.

    I took a gamble on a C-5 Plus and took delivery yesterday. It's... underwhelming. I just returned a $1500 ibanez that had lifting fret ends and between 6 to 8 high frets! I wasn't going to do a fret job on a $1500 bass that the factory chose not to finish. Well, the schecter also needs a fret job. But I feel a lot better busting out the leveling beam on a $649 new bass than a $1500 new bass.

      My $300 Squire anniversary gold edition jazz bass and p bass have no issues. Such a shame in quality control for some of these other companies. I first ordered the p bass and was so impressed with it that I ordered the Jazz version. I play them each extensively and continue to be impressed by the quality and tone.

    Nice job sir. I have a option to buy a Stilleto bass 4 string that " needs to be wired " for 150 bucks...any thoughts sir?

      Needs to be wired? Replace all the electronics with the proper EMG pickup set and preamp. Plug n play.

    When you say 20 and 12 for your measurements, what are we referring to MM or IN? I"m assuming you meant .012 and .020 in?

    • @stringmanguitars4329
      @stringmanguitars4329  Рік тому

      .020” I ALWAYS use inches. Your assumptions were correct.

      @@stringmanguitars4329 Another thing, anytime I've seen tutorials on checking nut height they do .020 but while they are pressing at the 3rd fret. You check it open, what's the significance of doing it this way?

    • @stringmanguitars4329
      @stringmanguitars4329  11 місяців тому

      They are looking at .002 maybe fretting at third.

    Thank you for the video. I have this exact one as well as the matching 5 string and got lucky that they were both set up "ready to play". At least in what I think is playable with what little knowledge I do have. One question though...when you did the string height adjustment with all being at 5/64...aren't the strings suppose to follow the neck radius? Setups are where I really lack the talent but am getting there. Thank you for your videos!

    • @stringmanguitars4329
      @stringmanguitars4329  Рік тому +1

      When every string measures the same height across the same fret, it is following the radius.

      I'd never get away with 5/64. I've gotta do 7/64 bare minimum or I get so much banging of the string and huge buzz. I also play with a pick and have a heavy attack though.
