Nah it's
Unstoppable stanton curve soundtrack
Agreed runaway theme intensifies
Yes
Nah Tomas the train theme intensifies
@@LadyKayTsikoe Thomas the tank engine
So, I actually went and wrote (well, emailed) the National Railway Museum (UK, of course), with links to this video, outlining the scenario, and asking about it. They responded!
They responded in quite a lot of detail, too much to put in a youtube video comment, in fact, but they outlined the _numerous_ reasons the scenario in question simply _should not happen,_ the many, many, _many_ safety systems put in place to prevent it. Frankly, to get a runaway like this, you'd need to essentially have a suicidal driver in the class 47, with literally every passenger and the guard in the van incapacitated and unable to trigger the emergency brakes.
_Assuming_ all of that, however... Scotsman, in the estimation of the National Railway Museum, _could bring the train to a halt._ Not by applying reverse power; that would actually _destroy_ Flying Scotsman, it's just not possible due to the way her mechanics work. _However,_ her brakes and her tender brakes alone _should_ be sufficient to actually save the day; she was _built_ to haul _and stop_ brake-less _freight trains._ So even a runaway 47's engine shouldn't be sufficient to overcome the braking power and weight of Flying Scotsman and tender. However, it would not likely be possible, even for a daredevil, to gain access to the cab of the 47 even through the corridor tender. Scotsman would essentially need to bring it to a virtual stand-still, walking, jogging pace, so someone could disembark from Scotsman and board the '47 - or someone to board it from the ground outside.
Wow that’s amazing!
That's incredible.
uhh ok i guess
Fun fact: Unstoppable is loosely based on the “Crazy 8s” incident where a SD40-2 locomotive numbered 8888 belonging to CSX Transportation started rolling uncontrolled down the man line in central Ohio.
It reached speeds of 51mph, was in fact carrying hazardous cargo, and was stopped by a rail crew attaching their engine, another SD40-2, number 8392, behind the train and slowing it down.
Once it was down to 11mph a crewman running alongside the train jumped on and stopped the train.
Can’t forget the CSX 8888 Engineer. He was held Accountable (Like in the Movie), and was immediately fired from CSX.
@@KaijuForceNeo I thought I read that the engineer was never officially named and his punishment undisclosed. Although given how many violations he did, termination would be the obvious punishment.
It didn't start in central Ohio. It started in NW Ohio just outside of Toledo from a village called Walbridge.

Flying scotsman: I stopped the train
BR: The Mordenization was a Mistake.
Railway Fans: Oh now Scotsman will be a different engine again…
Thomas Fans: Now this is cool
I have done this with an 8F ((the runaway train)) and a Jubilee ((the “hero” train)) and one thing to note is for the reverser to be in reverse and wide open throttle with all the brakes on is pretty good but it’s also good to apply the tender handbrake, if the tender has one, because it adds more pressure AGAINST the runaway train and you wouldn’t even need to turn off the throttle of the runaway until you get the train stopped
The movie unstoppable was my favourite movie when I was 7 and now it’s my fav again also I think the movie should be called deadly 777 1:03
What about stopping the train by coupling Flying Scotsman to the back of the train
Everyone give LazerJet and Flying Scotsman a Round of a Applause 👏
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I Watched Unstoppable And It Was Absolutely Amazing, Best Runway Train Movie
I’ve yet to see Gordon stop a runaway himself sometime, that would be FIRE!
"THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT"
I think the weight of The Flying Scotsman really helps too!
Definitely. It was definitely the weight of that monster, and it's tender, doing a hell of a lot of the work there.
Bro I was literally watching Unstoppable last night after seeing a short doc about the Crazy Eights
For everyone who didn't know yet. The training center in TSW 4 appears to represent the test ring in Wegberg-Wildenrath from Siemens test center. The Mountains are just wrong. But i also feeling that testing for trains on narrow-gauge railways is missing.
I'd also like an underground area on the training center for bakerloo style ops.
How did you get them trains
@@musicalaviator This is definitely a test ring. I have never been to Siemens in Wegberg Wildenrath. But I would say that there is also a conductor rail there for trains with a conductor rail. Before delivery of the 483/484 series of the Berlin S-Bahn, they were tested there. So they definitely have a power rail
@@SusanHippey-ko5ym I don't have the game
Loved the video I don’t often see videos of British stuff as I’m from Scotland
Considering you used coaches unlike the movie used fright, it definitely makes it even more dangerous as a runaway!
The first thing I did after school was immediately watching this and it has made my day 100 times better❤👍👍😁
Great video, Oliver!
Wow this is another time I’ve seen this on TSW
very intense when the 47 was creeping up to the back of the flying scotsman lol
I like the unstoppable movie reference! (Or the crazy eight incident reference)
It would be cool to see you try this again with a massive American freight train on Cajon Pass or Sand Patch Grade since I noticed Scotsman has a knuckle coupler
I hope you mean from Cajon Pass or Sand Patch Grade, as far as I’m aware those train routes aren’t able to be have that done because of their weird signaling system… though it would be cool to see!
Or a class 66
As good as she is, there's _zero_ chance the Scotsman could stop one of our massive freight trains. _Union Pacific 4014,_ the Big Boy, would probably not be able to stop a runaway modern freight train. Remember, Scotsman was designed for express passenger service on the UK, all of their carriages are restricted by Victorian-era loading gauge requirements. Bringing a load of lightweight passenger wagons being pulled by a relatively lightweight passenger express Diesel? That would be worth giving it a go; but a miles-long American freight consist?
Not a chance in hell, that would just be suicide.
@@ShadowDragon8685 I mean… technically the Big Boy COULD stop a runaway train, it depends on the angle of attack that you come at it with, putting it in front of the runaway to push it back as it’s heading down a grade would pretty much be a death sentence, coupling up from behind and playing Tug-of-War with it as well as trying to apply some handbrakes would be better, that way you are trying to drag the consist AGAINST the grade instead of them FOLLOWING the grade
@@voidthe3f859 I don't think so. I don't think even the might of 4014 could stop a miles-long train going down something like the Cajon Pass, either front or behind. She'd destroy her brakes, and fighting that much mass already in motion, I think reverse power would just result in wheel-slip. Any gains would be canceled out by gravity. If it was on a level grade, that might be different.
Great idea :-) Those poor brake blocks!
Hi lazer jet The unstoppable was inspired be a a incident call the crazy 8s whair CSX loco 8888 runway becuz the driver setc the throttle to full power efficient thort he the dynamic brakes were on but theiron whair not he did to sow he can put a misaligned switch but his train sped up and became a runway
Hey LaZeR JeT, did you know Unstoppable is based on real life events? It's the story of the Crazy 8's.
The way the class 47 first bumped the Scotsman reminded me of thunderbird 2 bumping the KLA station in the original thunderbirds series 😂
I love unstoppable
I love our locomotives, they look great and have amazing power
But British trains are way more beautiful, I love the shapes, designs, and colors of UK locomotives much better; and yes, obviously Thomas had an impact on that, but still
Hey Oliver it’s been a long time since I watched your videos but I was wondering that do you know that there’s are beautiful steam train called the Caledonian railway class 123. This steam train is one of the last single drive train and I’d hope you called get maybe but that’s all I’m going to say so see you soon bye old friend
😊 - isn't it in a Scottish museum?
In the movie 777’s brakes wasn’t connected to the Lashup so it’s was a completely different situation
Try to make unstoppable with 611 the American steam locomotive instead!
Great movie
in reality you'd have had no brakes left on either the loco or tender due to having them on at 100% for that long
There's a Mission Impossible film, right there! 😊
Fun Fact Lazer Jet, the movie Unstoppable is based off of the Crazy 8's Incident, with a CSX SD40-2
Now i wanna see this going backwards and maybe to stop it before the train crashes into a station
Can you do a video of how you get city of Truro Because city of truro is my favorite British steam locomotive.
If you said this is real life I would believe you?
That shows that the flying Scotsman is capable to stop a runaway train
hi oliver could you make experimental engines race?
The final attempt of how the runaway train was stopped was with another engine at the back of the train
Never underestimate the power of steam
Union Pacific 4014, the legendary Big Boy, was actually used to push a stalled-out diesel-hauled freight train miles long, over a hill it couldn't get itself over.
I did this as well after seeing you it was SO fun😊
This was genuinely brilliant to watch!
Did they ever fix the issues with the spirit of steam
The amount of times Oliver said uhhhh
LaZeR JET is the best😊❤❤❤
Ikr
I wathced unstoppable on saturday
Unstoppable is my favorite movie
5:10 you should of spawned on the other loop track so that the other train could pass you as need be (not crash into) you. Then you would set the switch to switch tracks and as long as derailments are set to be disabled because of a missed aligned switch you would only to go forward over the switch that moves you to the outter line track (the one that the first train was spawned on and let go) with the right timing to be in front but not cause an accident (crash into you).
havent seen Scotsman in anything other than train simulator classic, great to see it in such beauty in these graphics.
Fun fact:This actually happened in 2011 in America ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I've never watched anything like this before, but you had me hooked immediately. I'm impressed by the detail of 60103 from all these angles. I only notice one thing that the developers missed - steam is only coming from the front orifice of the double chimney and only from the front safety valve. Apart from France, UK and the Union Pacific in the US, I don't think double chimneys were much used.
*Insert unstoppable stanton curve soundtrack*
I got a idea can you try to see how many cars can the Scotsman pull at once.
😮 - -pull 15 × 34 ton coaches on level trak; would struggle up-grade . Gresley's A4 s ( eg Mallard) wer more powerful but stil had th overheating middl big end problem. Gresleys successors : H. Ivatt , & O. Bullied cured this problem with their 3 cylinder locos😊
"A runaway train that loses control"
Bro just suggested that a runaway train can not lose control.
I think you would have had to couple them manually as they aren’t coupled in this, the buffers bumping doesn’t couple them but great video!
In fact that happened to Golden brother, a.k.a. Henry, Henry and Gordon were brothers when they were made so they’re becoming more awake by now and I believe Henry had an accident in 1999
I had no idea tenders had that little corridor. I thought steam engineers were just separated from the rest of the train.
Also, this is Train Sim World? I’ve been sitting on this game for… I don’t even know how long, but damn! This looks like a lot of fun!
Only 22 corridor tenders were built, in the 1930s, so that crews could change halfway on trains scheduled to go nearly 400 miles without stopping. 60103 had one then. When the later streamlined locos (class A4) were built in the late 1930s all the corridor tenders were attached to A4s. At the end of steam in UK in the 1960s, 60103 was preserved with a corridor tender.
Please do more videos like this!
well next time for a BIGGER chalenge get out of scotsman like out of the cab not just using a diffrent camera
Train simulator would benefit if it had real Scenarios, like actual consequences. Its more like sit and wait simulator.
Craftyfoxe made a Minecraft version of the movie with his Minecraft models
when your tyring to stop put your reverser in backwards 7 and put your regulator to the max
I tried to do that but I keep getting ramped of the tracks and the train blows up and engines and fright cars flying everywhere
Bruv really tried the unstoppable movie but instead of the avwr locomotives
yes, yes you are slowing down. Keep it up flying Scotsman I know you could do it.
Scottsman when he has to stop a runaway Class 47 GRN with 7 coaches but in real life:
I have a question. Does anyone else have problems with Some of the cars Where The wheels won't move?
Fun fact: unstoppable was based on a train in India or something but then they made a movie about it but they made it thier own way
Make flying scottsman to do runaway and get another ther flying scottsman and stop it
Awsome video thankyou for the video I decided to do the same I used lms jubilee and a class 37
Im really enjoying tsw4 so far, its honestly a step up over tsw3
I would have got this idea by watching thomas, try to do it by coupling behind
If you haven't yet, looked in the middle of the frame and you'll see something interesting
""It's gonna come really quick"" AYO 📸🤨
POV: the flying scotsman came to life*thomas theme intensifys*
Should have put the runaway theme from Thomas on it
Funny how the majority of Oliver’s fanbase is a bunch of 5-10 year olds lol
Yeah it basically is
Maybe do a like diesel trying to stop a train with like if it crashes it explodes type of thing
bro flying Scotsman is so strong it could even stop a runaway train 13:59
I’ll give the film a watch looks pretty good.
😂 heeeeèèeèèeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
can you please make a video with the lner b12?
