I have the same grinder and use it also with a Gaggia, the Carezza, with the portafilter upgraded to an unpressurized portafilter. For my machine it requires slightly less ground beans, 15g for a double espresso which for the best taste I stop the machine at 42 grams and usually 25 seconds from when you press the button to start gets the right flavour if you get that 42 grams. I do let it drip just a little after i press stop until the weight is 50 grams. The K6 grind size I have varies depending on the bean but in similar area to you. 29 clicks up to 32 clicks. Each bean differs slightly and I have learned that by trusting the numbers and grinding to get those numbers the flavour always seems to come out best. I am less inclined to trust my tastebuds as sometimes I taste it and think I should go finer but the numbers suggest coarser. Then when I go coarser it is in fact better. So for me the 42g at 25 seconds is a good sweet spot in my machine and grinding to achieve that works best for me.
@@harveyjones5027 excellent explanation! Very similar to my process. I think the only difference is I usually use a 1:2 ratio unless it is a light roast and then I will do a larger 1:2.5 or 1:3 ratio and because of my basket sizes I use either 20grams or 18grams of grinds.
Loved the grinder. Until the rubber band became loose and grip is really difficult, and the pin that holds the turning knob gave up and now there is nothing to hold it in place. Perfect grinder until that.
Having such a hard time dialing in on my Bambino! It recommends around 40 clicks for espresso, and im using a fairly dark roast. Should I be going even courser? It’s definitely very acidic every time, and it keeps spraying everywhere through the portafilter. I keep seeing some people say 30 clicks but that’s way off of the recommendation so im not sure. Thoughts?
I personally use 30 clicks for espresso. Different espresso machines and basket can have different results however I do think the recommended 40 clicks is going to be too course in most cases. Maybe try 35 clicks and see how that does and then adjust 1-2 clicks at a time from there to dial it in.
@ if you tighten the setting all the way until the burrs lock together then come back to zero and start counting up. The higher the number the more course your grinds will be. So, if you are counting this way then 35 would be more fine. I hope this makes sense!
@@runningon.coffee Im so silly I for some reason thought higher number means finer, so when people would say to grind finer to fix the spraying, I was actually grinding courser 🤦♂. Thank you for helping me realize!
Very helpful video, Trent. I just bought a K6. For medium dark roast, would 30 clicks still work? Would a V6 pour over and French Press be 60 clicks? Thanks!
Hey thank you! Congratulations on the new K6 :) yes, I think 30clicks would work for medium dark roast. I always start at 30 and then adjust from there based on how the shot pulls & taste. I don’t have a French press but for aeropress I use 60-70 clicks often. For V60 I usually grind around 90-95 clicks. Some people find that to course and prefer around 70 clicks. So experiment with that and see what fits your taste best!
So I did 30 clicks for a shot on my Moka Pot. It was slightly acidic, so maybe I could do about 26, 27 clicks the next time? The puck looked pretty good but there was a very thin layer of muddy puck in a small corner of the basket. I have been wanting to get a new silicone ring, but I have no luck in finding it for a one-cup. I also did a shot for my French Press at 60 clicks. Coffee was 14gm in 200ml of boiling water. The extraction was okay, not bitter or acidic, but I find it slightly weak (looks like an Americano, is that what it is supposed to be?). I will do 70 clicks next time and see how it goes. Thank you again for your guidance. it is very helpful indeed!👍
@Ally-p5b9u okay, I don’t have a moka pot or French press so I’m not 100% sure. I’m just guessing based on what I know about brewing. For the Moka Pot it sounds like you need to grind finer and try to level the bed of coffee as much as possible. For the French press being an inmersion brew I think the time you brew and agitation would probably be the best adjustments. How long did you let it steep? Maybe add 30seconds or 1 minute to that time, or try to stir the grinds a few seconds longer and see how that changes your results.
I was on 30 clicks initially too, got a 15 seconds shot and was too sour. slightly better on 26 clicks but still got to go finer. I find the recommendation too coarse
@@Auggie246 thank you checking out the video and for the comment! Yes, the 30 clicks is definitely at the top end of the espresso adjustment. The adjustments definitely vary depending on the coffee, dose, and machine. For example, I used this same basket, coffee and dose on a Flair 58 and the shot sprayed everywhere at 30 clicks. I think I ended up grinding close to 20 clicks on that one. I will work on a follow up video to actually dial in an espresso with the KINGrinder K6, not just showing time top range. 🙌
Very Helpful video!
By the way, K6 has a lot of statics, try to spray just a little bit of water on coffee beans before grinding (results are great!)
Hey I’m glad you like the video! Great advice to use RDT for reducing static. I should do that more actually.
Great video and helpful !
Excellent! Thank you 🙏

Mine flows best around 22-26 from zero mark( which is about +3-5 clicks from locking)
My coffee is best around 32
