@@TheGeneralMoe114 Actually, there are tabs for several other World War 2 factions on the left, like the Japanese, British, and some obscure ones, like Chinese Kuomintang and Italian soldiers
By golly darn, you covered everything but my very favorite pose I can’t seem to find the original artists of the mold, but I have found that a company that makes a kit called “Military Defense Playset” that includes the poses in olive drab and knockoff timmee poses in dark green. It also has 2 M48 Patton tanks in dark green and olive drab. I would put a link in this comment but UA-cam usually marks any comment with a link as spam so I’ll try to reply to this comment with the link
I personally like the poses that come in 1/32 models, because they are really 3-D (have a lot of plastic in them) easily paintable, as you put them together after you paint them, and really detailed. They are just really expensive, so I tend to just buy stuff from dollar tree
At 13:42, concerning the paratroopers - I have a bunch of these 'generic' molds from when I was younger. Those are my favorites. Where can I find more like these? I found the proper British ones, but I like the simplified version.
Another great video! The green "BMC" guys with no bases were originally made by a company up in the Bronx called Lido. As a kid I played with them and liked the no-base feature because it allowed them to be placed in trees, climbing ladders, etc. I used to pretend they were a military police unit, since a few of them have pistols and lanyards and seem to be in sentry poses. As for the Timmee, they are now being done in a whole different bunch of colors, which is great because you can use the white as ski troops, the blue as navy, black as ss or commandos, red as communists, etc. They even now have purple, which reminds me of one of the all-time great comic book series from the 1960s; "M.A.R.S. Patrol", the Marine Attack Rescue Service. The enemy force had purple uniforms and tanks, etc.
Thank you for the vid. I have been gathering army men and vehicles for a few months now so I can shoot a stop motion. It helps knowing some of the makers of the figures. I wasn't familiar with matchbox. Thank you
General Moe,The standing pose is very common at Amazon. You can buy it there or look at a local store.Another tip to find standing soilders is “True Hero” On Amazon
The BMC Lido army men go great with the M41 Walker Bulldog tank that TimMee offers. I use those guys to go against my MPC Germans and my Armies in Plastic Russians although slightly off scale it's still cool. I think they should be made in tan in the future. :)
Hey I am a stopmotion artist and I live in a area (not gonna say where for privacy) where in here 10:49 the machine gun, bazooka, rifle up,rifle down, walkie talkie, binoculars and there's also a uzi and a dude with a bag on his back but no weapons.since I don't live in America/Australia I see that there's some things that's not that normal for Americans/Australians because our baseplates for army men are either hexagonal or square and circle sometimes and youd be lucky do find anything here 11:51 except the ones I listed
Is there a site that shows more information about all different kinds of plastic army men? I've been searching and couldn't find one. That's also how I came to this (very helpful) youtube
3 years after this video, and mixture of poses have gone random... Dunno if it is just depending on shops where one looks plastic soldiers from, perhaps...? I kinda miss those good ol' matchbox kits. About those 'nam poses you said apeparing in early 2000s; those appeared here in Finland in 90s already... xD
Timee will always be my favorite as the inherited Timee Vietnam era guys where top quality when I was young. I do love the Elite Forces figures they’re very reminiscent of the old Timee with a similar plastic which is flexible and not brittle. Another thing I like is the set I picked up came in a bucket where the top was actually a foxhole with wood bridge for the handle which was added play factor
I have currently true hero’s and timmee and it’s a really good combo, the true hero’s fill in those poses I always wanted to have the shooting standing guy, I really like the combo I recommend to get them 2 together
I admit I have nearly all the knock offs but the British paratroopers knock offs are my most favourite (with others like timers and match box or whatever)
The soldier standing and firing and the Timmee/Timmee knockoff bazooka guy are my favorite poses. I've got so many bazooka guys and standing and firing guys in my collection!
Bizaro soldeirs are good For timmee, Check amazon, but amazon doesnt work for me so at your own risk. Good luck. If you realy want good quality army men, timmee or even the toy story army men are great Good luck
I like the knock off Timee ones because they usually have the grenadier holding the grenade as you showed. I think it was ...Hero Force...that had really good quality knock offs with the grenade...is that right? They had a better soft plastic feel too than the Adventure Force ones. I have a lot of all three but often can't remember correctly unless I'm looking at them. I'm pretty sure it was Hero Force I liked OVER Timmee because the price was so good and the buckets came with more stuff and the grenadier had a grenade. I love the Lido guys. The pod feet...the poses...just wonderful.
Nice video! Those overly-tall "BMC" figures you mentioned were originally made by "Lido" of the Bronx in New York City. I find them very useful as Military Police (or Air Police for the Air Force),or also they work well as Rangers because---since they lack bases----you can have them climbing trees or scaling cliffs or place them on ladders ( Back during WW2 the Marines had a similar unit called Carlson's Raiders, who did a lot of similar Ranger-type stuff, based on methods learned from the Chinese Communists). Also I agree with your thoughts on the Tim-Mee Vietnam guys; very useful backbone troops and good quality. I'd like to see you do a vid on plastic vehicles too---or have you already done it?
Check out the 1943 movie 'Gung Ho!' which is the story of Carlson's Raiders. It was great fun watching as a kid back in 1960 but not sure how it will fly these days. It was made during WW2 so doesn't hold back on making the Japanese look evil. But back in 1943 flag waving movies like this were needed to boost morale. The outcome of the war was still unknown.
@@miked6335 Thanks for your comment. I'm VERY familiar with "Gung Ho" and have it on DVD as a matter of fact. Great film, and you can tell it was made during the war because it has that fighting spirit to it. Carlson was quite a guy! As for the Japanese, most people today forget that popular sentiment was all for going in and bashing the Japs because of Pearl Harbor.
