I completely agree Haru did love Yuki at one point but Yuki never felt the same way so they remained best friends and Haru knew Rin is his soulmate
Yuki was Haru's first love cause he was the first person who showed him kindness in an environment where everyone treated the cow like he was a fool for being manipulated by the rat in the legend. So Haru's love for Yuki is real, but he accepts that Yuki doesn't feel the same.

Ten years ago I didn't know how Haru proved it was his natural hair color. Rewatch it again when I'm older, I got it right away that I laughed. I was so stupid back then.
