Glad you like it. Hope the fish in your area do too!

Great instructional video.. as a young guy back in 1989 or 1990 I wanted to learn to fly fish, a local shop in Nanaimo gave me a number to call and said “this guy is good, call him”. I did and for next 3 years Tom became my mentor, we hiked many beaches, and I learned so much about fishing and life. He really lit the SRC fire and my passion for fly fishing. I was posted away and lost touch with him, I can still smell his blend of pipe tobacco wafting down the beach….😊

Thanks. It is a go to fly here on the BC coast.

I use these in size 2 and 4 for Coho. They are my first choice in low water. I like them in size 8 for trout too. Outstanding fly!

It is also a dandy coho fly as you mentioned. I would not fish saltwater beaches without it along.

I've also been tying and fishing this fly for decades. My variation is a little different. I like to use red thread from the tail, under the tinsel, and to tie everything down until the head. This is to represent the open gills at the front, and if the fish tear the tinsel it makes the fly look like a wounded fish. I change to black thread for the spun deer hair head and tie off area.
