This fly looks great for Smallmouth. The variegation and colors in Pheasant make it one of my favorite feathers to tie with. I'm filling a box for a friend and this pattern is definitely going in it.
You are fun to watch, Galloup sure is right to feel threatened by you. Out of all the fly tiers you two are the most thoughtful and deliberate with your designs and methods. Keep it up!
Big thank you, Gunnar! I find your patterns and tying techniques truely inspirational. Your patterns also helping me catching some nice trouts, perch and toothy pikes here in Norway. Again thank you very much.
I've started attaching my feathers by the stem with the figure 8 wrap and I like it much better than attaching by the tip of the feather. Thanks for the awesome techniques as always!
The dark Blue feathers from up in the neck area are great soft hackle feather for nymph legs and soft hackle flies as there is very little taper to the fibers. Neat pattern but I like muddler patterns to have an inverted hook which is easy enough to do.
These are coming awesome, really liking the monofilament thread, it does do a great job holding the feathers at the right angle and staying put. I also tried out a zoo cougar variant with pheasant, looks great.
I think Pheasant rump and skins are my favorite material for tying small stream streamers. It has such a natural look under the water and it imitates lots of things swimming and crawling around. I have already run out of the marabou area of my skins so I have been cheating and using blood quills.
I live near well it's an hour a 20 min drive, that has some really big brown trout, not many but I think this one on a sink tip fishing the likely spots just before and during dawn and then at the last bit of light at the end of the day will produce some decent fish. It will be like steelhead, a lot of casts for one or two fish, got plenty of lakes with lots of bass so yeah. There is a lot of flies that you can tie off of a pheasant, as Jack Gartside would say. He would really approve this one.
Hey bud, do you have a good trick for getting your flyman tank motor to run slow like that? The adjustment plate on mine can only do so much. Thanks 🤘🏻 love the sculpin. Last time I tried pec fins I had a lot of trouble getting them equal. Your videos are full of great teachings. I'm a complete rookie. But pretty obsessed
Really nice pattern! Question about a possible variation. How would you tie that with some weight to reverse the hook point upwards? I tend to fish dark clousers, here in Ohio, dragging the bottom to imitate crayfish and sculpin.
I would try either extra small dumbell eyes or maybe some bead chain, it won't take much to get the hook to orient point up, tie it in like you would on a clouser
Everybody ties but you make art with your explanations which are priceless for us! Thanks!
This dude I believe is the slickest flie tier I've ever watched .. He even thinks like a fish !!

Excellent! I’ve been tying flies for 17 years & yet I still learn something new every time I watch your vids.
Love it! Been using pheasant rump for sculpins for 30 years. First trip on the Madison in 1990, it took 21 fish over 16" the first day.
👍👍👍great tips! I particularly enjoyed the description of the muddler’s behavior while “hunting”
I have to say that marabou color is amazing! Great pattern.
Great tie, Gunnar! Thanks you. I'm definitely going to tie this one.

Great work on your flies and streamers!! It was fun to watch you throw this one on your 4wt video. Thanks for sharing with us!!
Nice pattern, looks kinda like the zoo cougar when its swimming. Keep up the good work. Thank for sharing.
Wicked looking sculpin pattern. Great use of pheasant as well, it doesn't get the due it deserves. Cheers

I finally got to watch this. Awesome! Great silhouette dry and wet, great action. Thanks Gunnar
Thanks a lot for sharing your excellent tyingskills, always learning a lot when watching your tutorials. All the best!
Awesome fly! Love the videos, you've taught me so much!
Awesome fly. Great description of tying process. 👍
What a nice muddler. Also thanks for showing how it moves in water.

I'm having problems getting a hold of Deer Hair is there an alternative material that I could use?
When you put that in the tank, I even wanted to bite it.
Gunner can you tell me where you bought your bobbin. Because I'm interested in getting one.
Think you could combine this pattern and the crawdad to come up with a pheasant rump sub surface frog?
Muy buenos todos los atados que logras, ÉXITOS DE ARGENTINA!!!!!
That fly will catch fish.

Couldn’t make Houston yesterday😞 When is the next couple shows your gonna be at?
Is this suppose to float like a zoo cougar? Fish on a sink tip?
4:21 "fat shaft"
It looks like a small mouse
Cool thanks
I suggest avoiding the use of " perfect ".
