After, James and Will recall the time Ron Burgundy stopped by The Late Late Show to do stand-up, the two talk about the return of baseball and soccer. And the 'Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga' star tells James how he keeps a low profile in Sweden.

Each week night, THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN throws the ultimate late night after party with a mix of celebrity guests, edgy musical acts, games and sketches. Corden differentiates his show by offering viewers a peek behind-the-scenes into the green room, bringing all of his guests out at once and lending his musical and acting talents to various sketches. Additionally, bandleader Reggie Watts and the house band provide original, improvised music throughout the show. Since Corden took the reigns as host in March 2015, he has quickly become known for generating buzzworthy viral videos, such as Carpool Karaoke." - Розваги
This is something that is the cause of a lot of confusion and misunderstandings between Scandinavians and others. In Scandinavia, we are afraid to disturb or intrude. It is courtesy for us to stay away and not make contact. Sadly, this is often interpreted as being rude or being shy, or seeing ourselves as superior. It is neither. It is simply our conception of being polite.
Robert Meisingset - I think the Swedes are indeed a bit shy, especially during a long hard winter. They seem to keep to themselves and keep their distance (which may be why a lockdown was less necessary than in other countries.
I would like to dig deeper on this cultural position. So if you were lost, would it be in bad taste to ask a stranger for directions?
I totally agree. It’s the same for Danes. We’re just being polite. 😁🇩🇰
If someone is being attacked in public, do you help, intervene, do something, anything?
@@dreamlover4128 Of course, although it's less prevalent in Stockholm. The bigger the city, the less people care. That's not a Swedish thing though.
As a Swede, we DO think Will Ferrell is "just like me", but in the sense that he values being a private person outside of his work persona.
We wouldn't dare impose, just as you wouldn't ask any doctor on the street to check your bunions or a baker to make you a loaf.
Sanning.
You wouldn't dare be a human being and interact with other human beings in a natural way. I get it.

EXACLY. While he is here in Sweden, he is on vacation. Why on earth would you riun his or his family vacation? Over my fucking dead body that any of my family would do it.

I wouldn't ask a doctor on vacation on the street anything doctor related as why would I? Why would anyone that's normal?
His swedish pronunciation is pretty decent, and he talks down on himself lile true swede! He can definitely pass as a swedish citizen!

I don't think we avoid giving celebs more attention with the mentallity "he is the same as us", more so that we don't want to bother him and just let him enjoy his privacy.
Yep, "generally" we leave celebs alone as we respect other peoples privacy and time here in Sweden. But there are exceptions with everything.
Its the same in Finland pretty much. Even Steven Tyler has walked the streets of Helsinki like it was nothing. Theres a video of him playing some empty bottles :D
I would not go crazy, but be like selfie pic, an autograph, & handshake, ty & please. I'm Hispanic American, but quiet & get loud if excited, but after covid muchless. I hope that loud idiot saw this so he knows he is a loud obnoxious undesirable idiot. I hate the type. Ugh. I'd be trembling. I would always be trembling myself, shy, bashful, etc.
Agree. But as a big fan of some American actors, I would walk up to them for photo or autograph but I would be super nervous and respectful about it
But the difference is they are attention whores

A majority of swedes doesn’t really care about celebrities, we appreciate privacy and like to honor the other persons privacy. Personally I am rather happy not to be recognized by everybody, must be very awkward.
A majority of Scandinavia seem to respect individuals and citizens much more than other areas of the world.
We do care. I remember who I saw and where, but I wouldn't approach them unless it was some kind of official gathering where fans could be expected to ask for autographs or so.
I must have taken a cue from the Swedes at some point then as that is also my position on celebrities. I also feel a certain amount of pain for them, as you say it must be quite awkward to have to stop and take pictures if you just wanted to dip into the bar for a quick beer.
@@thatsalt1560 Yeah, Swedes also get "excited" when randomly seeing celebrities, but people won't approach them. Except maybe a few young teens. I've run into some big celebreties on the street in Stockholm and they always seem to be able to go about their business without anyone interrupting them, which I think is good. Must suck to be stopped for a photo every minute if you walk on a busy street.
I've heard several celebreties saying that Sweden, and the rest of the nordic countries, is a nice break for them for just that reason.
J Dubz we’re raised with the mentality of “treat others the way you would want to be treated”. We also talk about mental health fairly early on, and we respect people’s diversity, and the ever after thing Disney (and the entertainment industry) pushes on society is not a thing us Scandinavians think life is about we see it for what it is...a social construct that no one likes to have pushed down their throat (but if people think it’s important to have that Joneses life that is respected too). Each to their own/we can agree to disagree but still be kind to each other comes first and foremost in Scandinavia! Our governments work for us and not against us, and if something can be made in a more efficient way someone will be hired to look into it and set it into motion. It takes a day to start a company here for example🙂
We live in a world where there’s a guy named Will Ferrell and another guy named Pharrel Williams.
I’m Michael that so random but....🤣
🤯
🤯
I think that Europeans in general are more respectful towards celebrities in that we don't want to bother them. And Scandinavians especially can almost ignore foreign celebrities just to make sure that 1. They know that we don't think they're better than us, and 2. That they know that we don't want to be a nuisance towards them
Good! me too been around them my whole life and keep my distance
M A I’m sure you get all the girls cat calling them “beautiful specimen”😂😂😂
I think you’re wrong. lol ask BTS about the loud mobs outside their hotel in Berlin and elsewhere...
We really don't care, that's it
As one of the Nordics from Finland, we do want to make sure celebrities know 1. They aren't better than us 2. We are not being a nuisance. Those two reasons are so true, but it's also funny that the first is kinda passive aggressive, while the second is genuinely supportive.
This movie is like a replacement for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. This is amazing for Eurovision-loveeeeeeers

I had that happen in Sweden actually. Someone asked me where something was in Swedish and I had to apologize because Im a tourist.
The Law of Jante works in Sweden too, invented in Denmark and named for a spot in Norway: a very Scandinavian thing
Not wanna be a hater but sometimes you just wanna be your self not a jante. I guess Scandinavia is good for some and bad for others.
Invented in Norway, named for a fictional town in Denmark
A spot in Norway? As far as I know, it's after the town of Nykøbing Mors in Denmark, where the author Sandemose grew up and used as a model for the city Jante in his novel (which he wrote in Norwegian).
The law of Jante, or Jantelagen, is not universal for everyone in Sweden. I, for example, know for a fact that I am a very stable genius. The bestest genius actually.

Yes I agree. As a Swed... we have something called “Jentalagen”. That means ”no one is special”. So you will not see many Swedes walking around and feel “special” even if a lots of innovations were made by Swedes. Just to say that “Bluetooth” was invented by Swedes, or if you see a famous Swedish actor win a “Oscar”.. he/she would maybe hide it somewhere when guests are coming to visit...
I think the Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård made a very good explanation about this in an interview in some talk show.
And yes, Will is very popular in Sweden, and IF I would see him, I would be very nervous as a Swed becomes when meeting a big movie star and hope I don’t say something that Will would think was “Stupid”.
