- ALM Busy Circuits presents 'BUSY VISITS..' a video series where we delve into the creative spaces and creative practises of some of our favourite artists and friends.
Iggor Cavalera and Laima Leyton, a husband and wife duo from São Paulo, are a formidable creative force. Iggor rose to prominence in the late 80’s as the drummer in his band Sepultura. Meanwhile, Laima has an established presence in both music and contemporary art.
They frequently collaborate with Soulwax and have a joint project called Mixhell, blending electronic music with live drumming. Now based in London, they show us around their studio & share insights on their creative practise.

Glad to see the evolution of legendary Sepultura man ❤
Dude passively said "...I played with this band called Sepultura". Like THEEEEE SEPULTURA
Came here to say the exact same thing
Consider my mind blown.
This is the exact reaction I just had coming to the comments!
I was so deeply inspired and influenced by Iggor and Max back in the early Sepultura days and have loved everything that Max has done since. It's so interesting to see that Iggor has gone down this more experimental electronic modular path which is exactly the same path I began heading down back in the mid to late 90s. The Cavalera brothers are absolute legends!!
Amazing. Had no idea Iggor was into synths. I keep meeting people with histories in rock and metal bands transitioning to electronic music.
Thanks ALM for opening my eyes. Great interview. Great modules.
Acoustic drums in electronics is always awesome - in fact - it's actually how it started in the 60's and 70's before drum machines existed. Early Tangerine Dream...
What a cool interview. Having been a metal musician who transitioned to modular synth, I can relate a lot. I saw Sepultura live with Iggor in 1997, so it's so cool to see the evolution of his music career.
The Drums on Arise and Chaos AD.. where epic!!!
Funny to see Iggor in modular, as kid listened Sepultura and nowdays am in modular.
Igor!…….is GODZILLA! 🤘🏻
Cavalera is music Royalty in my book.
how cool. love this sound. i have to say one of my favourite metal records is "chaos ad", also because of the drums
Igor was a beast back then. Nice to see that he is into electronic
Akemie's Taiko is a must if you want to add some "weird" (or not) goodness to your rack! Very versatile!
OMG, it's Igor from the original (and by far the best) #SEPULTURA lineup. Wow, he was such a driving FORCE behind the drums. The whole band was incredible imho. And then he turned to electronic music, very cool. Epic episode, thanks ALM! // ua-cam.com/video/qV0ANDCNMWM/v-deo.html just for fun \m_
edit: they *still* do rock for ages! ua-cam.com/video/wN4DSnk0ctU/v-deo.html
Gear heaven, cable hell 😂❤
RIP Iggor and Max’s mom.
No way Iggor😮
Love that 1U intellijel just hanging in there haha
Hi Friends, asking for help here. He mentioned being inspired by electronica bands "Throbbing Gristle" and (mispelled but phonetically accurate) Noi Bownton? Noy Bowten? (Time stamp: 2:12) I can't find them because the search can't help me. Can anyone help me spell "Noy Bowntin" right so I can find them? 😁🤷♂️ Gratitude! Peace to everyone.🌹
