"and you eater of world. May you taste our righteous fire, And choke on it. For my planet's sake, I spit my last breath at thee" I love this quote, this alone is so epic yet so underrated
The bit where Pyrus reaches out his hand to his always gets me. This is as good a scene as you'll see in anything from anywhere. It was the planet-scale equivalent of the Vizier striking the Eater of Worlds in last defiance before being consumed.
this series showed some characters who were really gruff and stubborn, born jackasses like vizier and mantle, but in the end they showed that they were more then just pains the butt. They did what they did for their planets and their people, and their ends were ones of sacrifice and honor, against an enemy that understood none of those things, or their power. The vizier sacrificed himself in one last act of defiance against the beast, Mantle used his last strength to destroy the control crystal.
Yeah, its also believable because they were ancient and in positions of power. Lord Mantle and the Vizir carried the burden of every death each of the other planets inflicted upon their people over the decades they were in power, so of course they would not trust or like them, even as allies. Each of the old guard represented a type of ruler: the uncompromising autocrat (Mantle), the level headed ruler with a familial Achilles' heel (Cryos) , the corrupt schemer (Femur) and the embittered traditionalist (Vizir). All of them were flawed, but all truly cared for their people, always did what they tought best and were more than the sum of their parts. That is what gave them depth, what made them such great characters.
I'm a brazilian fan of the series and all I can say is: The show was one of the best I ever saw on TV... I loved it and I hated they never made a REAL END for it... However, the story itself is enough to make us all hail the Warrior planets!
Man, I'm also a brazilian fan of this series. I watched it as a kid on Cartoon Network, and I have to say, I remember that scene vividly. It was a glorious end for the Vizier, and I really hate that the series didn't have a proper conclusion.
This character easily stands out as one of the best I ever saw in my childhood. I only hope that when our species faces the end of our world, we meet it with the same courage as him.
Mainfraime Entertainment knew how to make characters the epitome of badass. And when the time came for it; they knew how to make you absolutely weep watching those same characters meet their end proud, defiant, and honorable til their dying breath. Pyrus put it best: They died as they lived; Gloriously!
What makes it all the better is the Vizier is voiced by the guy who played Inferno in Beast Wars...one wonders if he got picked again for this as gag...since he kinda looks insect-like too.
The Show really deserve a Final Season because they just put the Beast out of way but others planets sufer because they put ther Beast in other star system
To those questioning the Vizser's actions, this scene could be considered a black eye moment. Planet Fire was doomed with its damaged world engine and would have been consumed anyway. Viszer was also questioning himself on his place in the future, with Pyrus becoming a strong and responsible leader, not only because of his teachings, but because of the friends he made. People he acted harshly and at times unfairly to. Viszer also chose to stay on his home world because it was all he knew. There are people can't deal with change and would prefer to die standing on what they would consider home soil. So he did that, turning a moment of defeat into one of pride and defiance, choosing to die standing than live on the run and in fear, hoping to expose some form of weakness and give is own death meaning, if not just delay the Beast Planet and give it pause. It was a desperate act, one filled with pride and emotion. One which required soul searching and accepting what one may not want to accept. One where they choose martyrdom instead of uncertainty. A glorious death instead of a life of sorrow. This is why this series is such a cult classic. Its graphics may not have aged well, but its story is practically immortal due to is characters and it writing. And in this political correctness environment, our future generations may never see this sort of writing again.
I believe one of the reasons this show ultimately ended up canceled was because there was little the good guys could do against the Beast Planet and thus caused darkness-induced audience apathy. The third season, had it been produced, would have given the good guys a meaningful victory over the beast. This show was from the good old days, even if the CGI has aged poorly. If they reboot this series, then I fear it won't have the powerful writing the original had. I also fear such a reboot will likely end up being used to push social agendas like most modern-day shows and movies. Too many people who are high up in the entertainment industry want to shove petty politics into our shows.
I mean the show did deal with a lot of issues, racism, refugees, mental health, politics. So I don't really know what you could be worried about it handles all of these well I don't see why it wouldn't handle the others just as well.
@tombakerazshadow This whole scene is probably the best the series has to offer: in trope language, these three minutes contain: Tearjerker Worthy Opponent Crowning Moment of Heartwarming Heroic Sacrifice Senseless Sacrifice Crowning Music of Awesome Facing the Bullets One Liner Crowning Moment of Awesome Truly this is one of the grandest moments of children and young adult's television.
I'm the Nostalgia Critic! I remember it so you don't have to! Let's talk about something crap from the 2010s! Me: FOR FUCK'S SAKE DOUG - TALK ABOUT THIS FORGOTTEN GEM!
T_T I'm with you. Geez... of all parts of every episode there is of the show I just had to randomly pick this one to watch... actually I'm cutting onions right now... -sniiiff-
The planet was already doomed to begin with. And as the Vizier said himself, he felt that he was no longer needed, plus he was deeply sorry about the way he treated the non-Fire races. I guess he saw this as the only way to buy the others some time, and to repent from his misjudgement.
I wonder if the writer was a Trekkie? Couple lines used were also in the Star Trek films. "Let's slip the dogs of war", said by Graveheart and "I spit at thee" by Visier. The first was said by General Chang and the other by Khan. You know its a good show when you get teary eyed. Hopefully one day they decide to return to this show and give it an ending.
@kilmorecombine this was actually pretty biblicle if you think about it Vizier died to save everyone reminds me of what Christ did for us. FOR MY PLANETS SAKE....I SPIT MY LAST BREATH AT THE!!!!
@tandler "I spit my last breath at thee" Isn't that a line of Moby Dick? and also Wrath of Khan?, first there where Shakespeare references in Beast Wars, the guys at Mainframe had a lot of talent.
Someone need to make the the Third And FINAL SEASON.... i mean most of these voice actors are doing the Gundam series so there still around and theres so much that needs to be answered really. I wonder if there's a way to Make Rainmaker understand that WE WANT THE THIRD SEASON.
Hopefully one day Mainframe (Rainmaker) will make the right choice and come back & finish the series instead of releasing pointless Barbie movies. Shows like Shadow Raiders are somethings we never see very much of.
how is it a last stand thats running into a room full of people with all kinds of weapons that want to kill u unarmed. what would u hope to acomplish by doing that lol
Ramming Planet Fire into it actually did seem to affect the Beast Planet; part of the claw was destroyed, and the entire thing was knocked off-balance despite technically succeeding in eating the planet.
"and you eater of world.
May you taste our righteous fire, And choke on it.
For my planet's sake, I spit my last breath at thee"

Great use of the mobie dick line based on star trek 2 wrath of khan.
Dat delivery tho... "May you taste our righteous fire and CHOKE on it! For my planet's sake, I SPIT my last breath at thee!!"
KHANNNNNNNNN
With my last breath, I STAB AT THEE!
This line makes me love the whole series. Perfect epic line.
This is the way the world ends. Not with a whimper, but with a roar!
"You died like you lived. Gloriously."
Fuck yeah he died gloriously. HE RAMMED A PLANET WITH ANOTHER PLANET! You don't get more glorious than that.
His voice acting was top notch in this scene
I agree
The vizir said
"Our glorius world is doomed
but perhaps it may not need to perish in vein"
