I really love how you told Anthony no drinking, no smoking and no sex and I like how you said it in front of the little's because they need to learn morals from a young age and what your boundaries are and what your expectations as their father are because remember, boundaries breed security, even if the kids don't like it at the time, it still gives them security. My daughter went to her first prom last year. Like Peter, I asked a million and one Qs, as teens are not forthcoming.
In the UK proms are a recent phenomenon.
P.s. & prom used to be the major place/time for young’uns to l*** their V cards. Now it is even younger, actually for a long time it has been a younger “start up”. Sorry not sorry if I’m seen as a killjoy, just the facts, Jack. So imo Peter is wise to not presume anything & to state his expectations.
@@wintersojourn9356Yes that was why so many could not attend college after graduation, and their futures were seriously compromised. Parents must warn their children about the dangers of using the prom as an opportunity to to engage in sex, and expecting no repercussions.

From this single mom of 2….YES and ALSO with the respective date(in front of everyone) and group of friends as well (in front of everyone). I also asked for all the DL and phone # of parents if I didn’t already have it. I was like a CIA interrogator and NOT ashamed to say it!!!
I still tell my 40 + yr old children to make good choices. 😊

Back in the 1970’s I was a shy girl and nobody asked me to prom. I was sad not to be asked, but also large groups were and are not my cup of tea. In college I had nice boys vying for my attention.
I’m glad that kids feel free to attend with their friends nowadays.

Kids that have been through the system are quite a bit more intelligent just because of what they've been through....not necessarily a good thing in many cases, they've seen stuff they shouldn't have at a young age.

"As parents we give warnings at all times." There is nothing wrong with reinforcing the values we want our youth to have. They are still going to be individuals.
@@skyeblue5669 I have the same conversations with my boys. Half joking half serious. You need to constantly reinforce these values, we are up against a lot these days with what kids have exposure too.

If I am being honest I cannot stand that kid. He never seems happy. Going off on trips. He always looks entitled and rude.
My daughter wound up with kids doing the "bad stuff" and got stuck all night holding different girl's hair back as they threw up. She finally had enough of the drunken, high shenanigans and called Dad to come get her as she was fed up. She let them all have it for ruining her night and now at 25 doesn't talk to any of them except her best friend that left the party right after her.

My son’s school had a second party after the prom. A country school with only 12 in his class. Was held at a senior’s home in the barn supervised by / set of parents and was over after breakfast served at 7am. They had a great time.
Oh, nice to learn about proms and Anthony looked like the coolest, smartest gentlemen.
Well, we never had proms. But two times a year school organized a discotheque, a disco dance event in the school sports hall! And that really was amazing too!
It’s amazing how much the kids knew…chaperones, diner….dance. Dad sounds just like me…no drinking, no MJ, No sex. My kids did late night bowling.

Anthony, as a parent we need to warn you and advise our children about what may happen. I'm a mom of a male and the girls were constantly seducing him. I had a lot of rules. Your Dad is right. Have fun, remember the rules and Thank God you have a great man as your Dad.

I went to my Jr. prom, was in a wreck. Almost died and was still recovering when Sr. Prom arrived.
We didn't have a prom because in 2001 was modern to go for holiday abroad so we spent whool week in Pula, Croatia. Now my classmates regret it when we have reunion every four years in our high school place called Kremnica, Slovakia.

Wow, Anthony, you are so lucky to have a dad that keeps asking questions. That helps your memory, your interpretation of facts and improves communication between you two. I remember at you age I could care less, now that I am older I can treasure those moments with my parents.

I was never interested in going to the proms. From one year to the next, my eldest sister wasted a whole year planning for the prom. This really aggravated me. Interestingly enough, I had an opportunity to attend many formal events while attending the university as a student and faculty member. Those functions were much better than any prom. I am happy that Anthony's prom experience was positive. In addition, I am happy that he did not engage in any behaviors which could negatively impact his future. Kudos to Dad and to Anthony.😊🙏
My prom was a LONG time ago, but it wasn’t like the movies either, thankfully. I went to a small school and I’m always thankful it wasn’t like the schools in the movies with mean groups of people etc.

My prom date and I went as friends and he waited until the WEEKEND BEFORE PROM to ask me! As a girl, this did not leave a lot of time for dress shopping, hair/nail appointments etc. I appreciated that I got to go to the prom, I wish he would have asked me earlier. 😳
