May Allah save all common 'layman' Muslims from confusion in the matter of Deen and hold them firmly onto one amongst the well established 4 school of thoughts of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaat of our pious Salaf i.e. the schools of the 4 Imams of the Ahlus Sunnah. There is a reason y all of these 4 schools have been deemed correct as they dealt with and have solutions of all the known and established matters of Deen and Shariah and therefore the door of Ijtihaad was closed on these matters centuries back when majority of the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah back then after the Imams studied, understood and came to a conclusion that all the matters have been covered by the school of these Imams and the Hadith evidence used in all the rulings cannot be argued against n thus all of them are correct. Ijtihaad thus is only required for new matters that keep coming up with time and rulings on these new matters are given based upon the well established Usuul e Deen. N these Usuul e Deen themselves just to b clear in all these schools of thought are based upon the understanding of the great Imams of how the Sahaba RA and the Tabaeen used to deduce rulings on matters with the knowledge of all the acts, teachings and sayings of Rasulullah SAW available to them.
SubhanAllah he made the topic so easy to understand!! For decades now this has been a topic of discussion amongst the youth in my lifetime. Yet here, the shaykh (الله يرحمه) made it so easy in a matter of minutes!!
Albani is using fallacious logic. He is saying reject the madhab and agree with ME! As all Salafi scholars expect blind Taqlid from their Salafi laymen.
@@ibbydread6092 he didn't say that. What I understood is he basically said follow whoever gives you better proof. Proof = Allah said, The Messenger (saw) said which is Quran and Sunnah.
Following an Ijteehad of a scholar is in essence following the way of the sunnah given the scholar avoids bida, shirk and is on sound aqeeda and is upon the (4 school of thoughts) moreover how any scholar of any of these 4 school of thoughts come to conclusion is called usool ( method of deriving a ruling) This is where differences of opinion arises such differences existed during the first 3 generations. So for anyone ( with all due respect to each and everyone of them)to claim following opinions of any of those usool i.e method so long as they meet the prerequisites of correct aqeeda, and Tawhid are not from the people of the sunnah fails to see the very opinion they are promoting of obeying sunnah and to ask the scholars for opinion regarding any given matter. May God protect every believer and forgive those on earth and those who have departed laymen or scholars.
As Salaam alaikum In every generation there are people who would strive to remain as close to quran and hadeeth as possible. And there would be a group of people who would try to justify their position. We need to ask ourselves, to which group do we belong. Companions of our beloved prophet would instantaneously resort to a position where stronger evidence were brought.
At the end of the day, it's about deciding whether you want to follow your own analysis or the analysis of the 4 imams who were from the Salaf us Saliheen.
The Shaykh’s logic falls over on itself. If it’s an obligation on a lay person to ask a person of knowledge, and he acts upon the answer, that entails putting trust into that scholars opinion. So what is the difference between that, and a person taking from the madhhabs? In both cases, the lay person is following a person of knowledge.
I don't think the Shaykh is opposed to following a madhab. I think the discussion was more about it shouldn't be obligatory to follow a madhab and that it shouldn't be obligatory to follow one madhab exclusively. This is because there were Muslims before the madhabs that would have died as Muslims. He's refuting people that say 'you HAVE to follow a madhab and HAVE to follow everything from that single madhab or your Islam is wrong'
The Idea is sometimes a madhhab has a different answer to a problem compared to the Quran and Sunnah(which is greater that the opinion of a Sheikh). He says to follow the Quran and Sunnah and when it comes to doubtful subjects ask a scholar, it may be Sheikh Al-Albani or Sheikh Ahmed ibn Hanbal. Since both are scholars. TLDR: No need for opinions on matters regarding which Allah has already addressed. As you may know the Hanafis pray dhuhr and asr at a later time than the time intended for it by God. So Here we follow the Quran over the Madhhabs, as their existence(the madhhabs) is to help us follow the quran.

Please forgive me for my knowledge of Islam is next to zero, it's shameful to say I'm like this despite the favor that has been bestowed upon me since my birth, coming from a religious Muslim family for centuries. When I was little my grandmother told me that we are Shafi'. LOL, I didn't even know what that meant, but later on as I am learning about this beautiful Deen, my poor grandmother, may The Lord Almighty have mercy on her, was confused on certain things and unfortunately had Sufi ideology which she was not aware it was Sufism. Believing everything came to existence for the sake of the Prophet, ﷺ and Allah سبحان وتلا is everywhere here in Earth. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ I am not in India, people say living here in the US, land of the kufr will make you bad, is not true! لا حول ولاقوة إلا بالله He has the power to bring anyone out of darkness into light Even with my little knowledge in the Deen of Islam and in my little intellectual ability, الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ I am to comprehend that we should not have divisions in Islam. However, it's very hard to digest when someone like this guy: ua-cam.com/video/tWJD92d1D70/v-deo.html comes to tell the people that we no longer need the Noble Qur'an and Sunnah because of our traditions and that our scholars have given us enough details of the religion to what Allah سبحان وتلا wants from us. I haven't even gone past 7:34min, سبحان الله the Sabr of this great sheikh in dealing with this Dr who seams to be under the impression that he is so intelligent, maybe due to his degree, unfortunately he has not gained any wisdom, maybe it's due to his lack of understanding the Deen. I read the comments, then saw the video. The comments make it seem like this video is absolutely golden... but i watched it and it was only a simple discussion, with a lot of side-discussed which swayed from the main discussion. Skip to 14 minutes for the more relevant parts. The first 14 minutes was just a bit of jostling between the questioner and questioned.
MashAllah brother, thanks for the upload, may Allah bless you. I just dont know why he is labelled as a madhabi or a so called ‘madhab-supporter’. This wording is strange, as i only see him as a man seeking knowledge. Is it just for clarification? JazakAllahu Khair akhi!
Albani is right. And it is common sense that Madhabs must be rejecyed on areas where it directly opposes Allah and our prophet. Unfortunately i know some malikis who are fine with dogs saliva, even though its against rest of the three madhabs and salaf and hadeeths. Thats what madhabs does. Its another religion. And Unfortunately, there are fake salafi scholars promoting madhabs nowadays, saying the excuse that laymen doesn't have any other option. While laymen could easily ask salafi scholars or easily read salafi books, as albani said. Why should the laymen go and ask madhabi scholars and madhab books, while a stronger opinion is available?
I am very greatful to o Allah swt to help me recieve such beautiful packets of knowledge. It's a blessing from. Allah to be able to get knowledge and be able to make it a way of our life
Allahu alem if this answered the question Muslims continue to ask. The issue of following a Madhab as a framework is surely the best way - it is not following blindly as they are all based on evidences and the manner in which the evidences are graded is also different within each school (so the notion of rejecting an opinion if a stronger opinion is presented is also open to interpretation). If anything the Sheikh confirmed what Scholars have said for centuries, nobody is saying to blindly follow, so I am confused as to where this idea arises from? Is it also not a form of taqlid to follow those who say not to follow an established school of thought, developed over centuries with access to sources and people who were close to the early Muslims? Again, how can the average Muslim (i.e.99.99%) live their Islam without a framework? How would an average person know if this opinion is right over the other, when another Scholar says otherwise? The tide has turned back to referring to established schools as 1400 years of scholarship cannot be wrong, and away from this confusion. I reiterate, the fact these questions are being repeatedly asked, is surely evidence that following an established framework is the safest option. Wa Allah Alem.
As Salaamu Alaikum According to consensus of the scholars it is Obligatory for a laymen to follow a methaab this Salafi nonsense destroy the islamic community in America base of Al Abaani understanding of the deen
The Idea is madhhabs exist to guide people to following Islam properly. But if you do not know something, do you check the madhab or the quran/sunnah, if you check with your madhhab over the words of Allah and Muhammed(SAW) then you simply are a slave to the madhhab and not Islam. Madhhab is for reference not a Rulebook. Quran is the Rulebook. I did not mean to offend anyone. I agree that you see someone following a madhhab is better for a layman as you have easier access to it, but it is not greater than following the Quran and Sunnah, the precise way the Prophet has taught Islam, the religion of Allah. The way it was meant to be followed.
He did not say to leave the framework of madhab but to leave following opinion blindly . He only ask ulema to follow quran and sunnah and manhaj alsalf so they guid layman accordingly. For layman they should not ask about madhab opinion but to ask for evidence from quran, sunnah. And salf manhaj. Regarding ijtahad matter you seek what most big ulema say about the matter also according to Quran, sunnah and manhaj alsalf.
As salaam Alaikum Can we get the written transcript of this whole conversation as sometimes reading the video tends to be a little difficult according to the situations. It would be real helpful to have a pdf or document of the conversation transcript. Jazakallah khairan
You should ask scholars who answer your question using proof from quran and sunnah and manhaj of companions. Dont ask who just give you an opinion without supporting proof. Even in case of things that need ijtihad try to reach for big scholars who have knowledge.
No one today is near to the taqwa and wisdom of the 4 imaams of the islam And without following them One cannot progress or live through the deen of Allah Without madhab there's no path.. Madhab is the path And no one can engage in hadiths and quran like the 4 imaam does Not even Sheik albani
@@hariss8876 🤦🤦🤦It's aggravating when people say "blindly follow". The scholars othat are following madhahibs are taught and made to understand the reasoning. For people who don't have time to be a scholar I think them "blindly following" in'shaAllah should be sufficient!

No, that’s wrong. following a madhab is following 1 scholar in EVERY aspect of religion. A madhab is not an opinion, it is a way in all or majority of religion. Sheik Ahmad, shafi’i etc ALL said not to follow them blindly and if something in the Quran and sunnah is against them, to follow the Quran and sunnah.
@@monkmodemalik8225 no one is following blindly. Each madhab and each salaf is following what they feel is most correct. There will always be differences of opinions. Imam shafi and hanifa couldnt disprove each other and respected each others opinion.

is it me or did the sheikh beat about the bush in answering the question of should one follow a madhab? he said it in a way to suggest no you shouldnt follow madhab but that is a contradiction to earlier admission that there are 2 sets of people, those that are scholars and those who are not and only scholars can be mujtahids. and one must be mujtahid to understand the strength and explanations of quran and hadeeth.
Muhammad Mustafiz What Sheikh Al-albani essentially said was that it is not obligatory to follow a mazhab. What was obligatory was to ask the people of knowledge (Ahl Al-Dzikr), whether they are Hanbali, Hanafi, Maliki or Syafi'i.
Muhammad Mustafiz "Allow the haram and further haram to continue" Please explain this, as I don't understand what you mean? "The Wahabi'ist were installed as puppet rulers after the breakup of the khalifa" The Third Saudi state under Abdul Aziz ibn Saud? No doubt, as with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and also the (now defunct) Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq. That doesn't mean the scholars there are corrupt also. In fact, some of the best hadith scholars of today comes from Iraq, such as Sheikh Mahir Yasin Al-Fahl.
Muhammad Mustafiz It wasn't Al-albani who gave the fatwa to allow American Military to build bases in Saudi Arabia. It's Ibn Baz. In fact, Al-albani condemned that fatwa, albeit indirectly. As far as I know, Sheikh Al-albani was very apolitical in nature; he doesn't associate himself with any governments nor political parties.
imaam shafi and imaan hanafi could not disprove each other. Both followed what they believed was the quran and sunnah. This proves that it's not easy to say one proof is stronger than the other. There will always be scholars who will differ on which is stronger. It doesnt matter whether you're a salafi or a madhabi...there will always be different opinions on which proof is stronger. Therefore madhabs will always exist and so will the salafis.
the madhabs were just famous imams from their time. eg abu hanifa was a big and famous imam and people treated him the same way we treat albani. they didnt want a madhab. however they trusted a learned man and his rulings. over time, people preferred his teachings and reasoning. eventually, people who thought a certain way due to the influence of abu hanifa were called hanifis. they compiled and did a lot of work to answer questions for the average person. that's why people who say madhab are pro madhab.
We ask ahlul thikr as in Quran 21 :7... h/e we are to learn the evidence which is linked to TAwhid, Quran 12 :108, and we learn context from the Sahabas RAdiyallahu anhum... 9,100 and we don't reject the evidence for the words of a scholar because that is a means or rejecting the din and shirk as seen in Quran 9,31! we call others to patience and haqq, Surah Asr, and Islam is a preserved faith, Quran 6 :89 or Quran 15 :9!

I have become fed up with all these sects and Sectarianism. Muslim and Islam is enough and sufficient nomenclature for us to get "hold fast the rope of Allah-Quran and authenticated Sunnat".
Hah, funny. Ya'all need to either read the book (Laa Madhhabiyya) or hear the debate between sheikh albani and sheikh al-buti. That was the real debate. This is just a question and an answer without a real challenge to Albani

17:20 As long as you're intelligent enough to be able to differ with the reasoning and intellect of the Imams of the four maddhaahibs and scholars who contribute and tweak the maddhaahibs (may ALLAH have mercy upon them all), and you have the same sincerity and hard work that they put in, maybe then you can start picking and choosing according to the Qur'an and Hadith with your own understanding and abilities to read and research.
As Salamu alaikum Akhi, I think you did the wrong interpretation. It is not upon laymen to pick and chose according to their umderstanding. Rather what he said is that if I as a laymen start following a madhab then I am allowed to do that until a scholar or an imam provides me an evidence from Quran and Sunnah which is stronger or even against what I follow in that Madhab. And if still I follow that particular ruling of a madhab when the truth is crystal clear upon the evidence provided then it is haram and I am upon falsehood. So we can offcourse follow madhabs for time being and can follow a ruling and give preference over another ruling from another madhab. But if the other is crystal clear and in accordance with Quran and sunnah then I shouldn't do that.
@@intekabalom8863 yes your understanding is correct from what I understood too. I don't get how someone can listen and read something that is so basic and crystal clear and completely interpret it the wrong way.
The concept is clear and Simple.....Follow Imam Abu Hanifa, Ash Shafai, Malik bin Anas, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, At Thawri, Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, or any one else with proper knowledge of deen.... But when u find a clear cut evidence that a particular ruling of a particular madhab is against the Quran and Sunnah, then it is Waajib for you to reject the ruling..... Are the Imams Infallible? (like the Rafidis make claims of their 12 Imams) Answer: No...Because TO ERR IS HUMAN EVERY SON OF ADAM MAKES MISTAKES AND ALLAH LIKES THOSE YOU REPENT FOR THEIR MISTAKES For example, it is stated in the books of Hanifi Fiqh that it is permissible to offer salah with a dog on your lap, it is not haram to take Riba in Darul Harb, it is not punishable if a man drinks alcohol and he is not unconscious...and many other fatwas..... My intention here is not to point out mistakes in the Hanifi Fiqh but to make my beloved brothers understand that no man acccept the prophet is infallible....So, it is not beffitting for the Ummah of prophet saw to hold fast to a particular madhab especially when u clearly see truth
@I witnessed coronavirusAbout other Madhabs I am not sure of what they said regarding consumption of alcohol and not losing consciousness. But in Hanafi fiqh it is not punishable.

This is exactly what Taqleed is all about! The debate between both respected scholars shows the unfortunate reality that both of them didn't know what exactly Taqleed is and isn't. Also they didn't know why is it necessary to follow one in present days when it wasn't back in the days of Salaf as Saaliheen.
No one said it is wrong, the Shaykh is saying to not blindly follow an Imam when his madhab or opinion goes against a clear more authentic hadith; and the examples of this are many.
Hi servan, I would like to add a small point, for example, Imaam Malik has direct chain to Omar (R) thru Abdullah ibn Omar (R) and to Abdullah ibn Abbas (R) thru Urwa ibn Zubayr among other chains. Hence when ppl say which madhab did Omar R or Abdullah ibn Abbas follow is a foolish statement, as knowledge flows downwards and not upwards, and in fact following Malaki School would mean following prophet Mohammad (S) through Omar R and Abdulllah ibn Abbas among other Sahabas, or following Hanafi School would mean following prophet Mohammad (S) thought Abdullah ibn Masood (R).
@@kledmohd4230 It's not. Following Imam malik only means following Imam Malik, not Ibn Umar. Why? Because Imam Malik not just recorded what he got, he did ijthihad and tried to form fatwa from them. As we all know, no scholar is free from mistakes in his ijthihad and hence there is no reason to follow a mistaken ijthihad when it is clear that it was a mistake.

The Sahaba were ijtehadi but they have different opinions also and it's still permitted but the scholars of today can't reach the level of Sahaba, tabi and tabi'un, the best 3 generation ever in history mentioned in ahadith and Imam Abu Hanafi was tabi and i think the rest were tabi'un as they were born later.. SO we should trust their knowledge and opinions and their opinions go back to the sahaba and they have the fatwa if any of our opinion goes against the Quran and sunnah then throw it on the wall...

Albani is using fallacious logic. He is saying reject the madhab and agree with ME! As all Salafi scholars expect blind Taqlid from their Salafi laymen.

This conversation shouldn't have been that complicated 😄
By Allah, Islam is so deep and profound .
As Salaam alaikum
In every generation there are people who would strive to remain as close to quran and hadeeth as possible.

Nothing wrong with having a madhab.
It is doubtful if you don't have madhab

I am amazed by the Doctor's question and his demeanor in dealing with the Sheikh.
Believing everything came to existence for the sake of the Prophet, ﷺ and Allah سبحان وتلا

Even with my little knowledge in the Deen of Islam and in my little intellectual ability, الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ I am to comprehend that we should not have divisions in Islam.
However, it's very hard to digest when someone like this guy:

comes to tell the people that we no longer need the Noble Qur'an and Sunnah because of our traditions and that our scholars have given us enough details of the religion to what Allah سبحان وتلا wants from us.

Sheikh Albani, i never find myself disagreeing with him in Aqeedah or major fiqhi issues.
Exactly
You said the truth brother
Allah bless you
He did not say to leave the framework of madhab but to leave following opinion blindly .

The main question is which scholars we should ask as long as they themselves are dividend.
You should ask scholars who answer your question using proof from quran and sunnah and manhaj of companions. Dont ask who just give you an opinion without supporting proof. Even in case of things that need ijtihad try to reach for big scholars who have knowledge.
No one today is near to the taqwa and wisdom of the 4 imaams of the islam

One cannot progress or live through the deen of Allah

No, that’s wrong. following a madhab is following 1 scholar in EVERY aspect of religion. A madhab is not an opinion, it is a way in all or majority of religion.

What Sheikh Al-albani essentially said was that it is not obligatory to follow a mazhab.

It wasn't Al-albani who gave the fatwa to allow American Military to build bases in Saudi Arabia. It's Ibn Baz. In fact, Al-albani condemned that fatwa, albeit indirectly.

Farooq Pakistani he asked a simple question no reason for insults. He just isnt blind following and asks about a matter he didnt understand correctly
imaam shafi and imaan hanafi could not disprove each other.
Lover of Hazrat Albani (R) actually follow him as their way to understanding Islam. So it is their mazhab.
assalamu aleykum السلام عليكم
the madhabs were just famous imams from their time. eg abu hanifa was a big and famous imam and people treated him the same way we treat albani. they didnt want a madhab. however they trusted a learned man and his rulings. over time, people preferred his teachings and reasoning. eventually, people who thought a certain way due to the influence of abu hanifa were called hanifis. they compiled and did a lot of work to answer questions for the average person. that's why people who say madhab are pro madhab.

What Albani Rahima'Aallaho said, does he mean we should do away with calling and identifing ourselves with suffixes of Hanafi, Malaki, Shafai, Hanbali, Ahali-Hadith, Salafi....?.
This is just a question and an answer without a real challenge to Albani
problem is alot of sufis use mathhabs as a cover for bidah. if a non Muslim lies on Quran and Sunnah you have them in front of you. if a sufi lied in the name of mathhab, where is that book in front of you its usually not there. why create an artificial vulnerability, in fact mathhabs teach I am a means to sunnah and follow any hadith i miss on a topic , in context of course. so where is there transparency between Muslims and non Muslims but not between Muslims, especially when Islam is perfect why use the mathhabs wrong and create a vulnerability to promote sufi blind following and bida? this not only opposes the Quran like in Quran 12,108 but the mathhabs as well who say we are only a means to the Sunnah! this opposes the meaning of Muhammadur RAsulalah that our isnad ends with the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings on him when able.
Look at the book Prophets's prayer by sheikh Albani on the quotes of the 4 mathhabs on how they are a means of unity on sunnah, not division without sunnah as many imams use them and even divided into 4 jamats in their name, thats not Islam, thats cultism. reject cultism and follow the Prophet peace and blessings on him directly as even the 4 mathhabs said! Following the Prophet peace and blessings on him is following perfection, we are human but we aim for the best!
1) Imam Abu Hanifah - whatever is sahih is my mathhab,
2) Imam Malik - Exveryone can be accepted or rejected not the Prophet peace and blessings on him!
3) Imam Shafi - Sunnah reaches and escapes all of us,
4) Imam Ahmad - don't just look to us but see where from the sunnah we take from!
As Salamu alaikum Akhi,
I think you did the wrong interpretation.
(like the Rafidis make claims of their 12 Imams)
Answer: No...Because TO ERR IS HUMAN
EVERY SON OF ADAM MAKES MISTAKES AND ALLAH LIKES THOSE YOU REPENT FOR THEIR MISTAKES
For example, it is stated in the books of Hanifi Fiqh that it is permissible to offer salah with a dog on your lap, it is not haram to take Riba in Darul Harb, it is not punishable if a man drinks alcohol and he is not unconscious...and many other fatwas.....

Also they didn't know why is it necessary to follow one in present days when it wasn't back in the days of Salaf as Saaliheen.
ja
We follow imams in fiqh as there is so much ikhtilaaf in fiqhi issues in quran and hadeeth which contradict so following one is not wrong
No one said it is wrong, the Shaykh is saying to not blindly follow an Imam when his madhab or opinion goes against a clear more authentic hadith; and the examples of this are many.
so you never have to learn ur religion. sit on your ass all day and just follow the imams because imam equals Islam, right? nice way of thought there
Hi servan, I would like to add a small point, for example, Imaam Malik has direct chain to Omar (R) thru Abdullah ibn Omar (R) and to Abdullah ibn Abbas (R) thru Urwa ibn Zubayr among other chains.
