Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I`ve heard the subject, heard it in many tunes without having realized that it was quartal, but your clarification on the guitar is an eye opener for me, thanks, greetings from Warsaw, Poland ;)
Goes to show that there are no shortcuts for learning to play Jazz Guitar well. Gotta buckle down and work thru these exercises no matter how tedious. Thanks for the lesson,Jody!
excellent info....the inversions are very interesting....although I am still a little unsure how they are formed....I think the point is you are moving the 3rd and 7th into a lower octave?......
Quick tip, wow! You pack quite a bit in. I was pleasantly surprised how I caught on to some of what you did. You can play a 3note chord on the guitar it seems and still retain tonal quality. Thanx Jody
Hi Jody, great lesson here, this really helps me as an aspiring jazz guitarist. I have questions about this concept though. Does it only work with the minor pentatonic scale? Could it be modified to fit say a natural minor scale? or would it then stop being a symmetrical pattern across the neck? Thanks so much
