I have really been waiting for this one with a lot of anticipation... I actually bought this knife initially to be my primary work knife, but for some reason I really haven't carried it for that purpose all that much. I knew that you would really put it through it's paces, so I was really curious to see what you thought about it. I have used it a lot for those times when I needed to make some very precise cuts through some very tough materials like heavy plastic and leather, which it works fantastically for. This was a really great review and I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I do. Just a note about the Lynch "deep carry" clip - I put it on there because with the factory clip about a full one third of the handle would stick up out of my pocket, where it would without fail get hung up on something at the most inopportune time. With it there is still plenty of handle sticking out of the pocket to get a good grip on.
It's an amazing design. I wish I could have put it through even harder use😂 The Lynch clip is fantastic. Like you said, it still gives plenty to grab onto. Even though I'm one of the few who likes Spyderco clips, I would probably agree that the Lynch is a big improvement. Spydie clips can be snaggy. Thanks for the loan as always man!👍
@gideonsstuff You are most welcome. I agree with you about the stock Spiderco pocket clip - all of my other Spidy's still have the ones that they came with on them. I am not real crazy about deep carry clips, especially not with my heavy duty "work" pants where I need all the grip surface I can get.
Love the Manix, wanna get an XL some day. I think Spyderco and Buck have the best S30V. I bet that landscape behind ya is buried in snow now. I'm 45 minutes east of Albuquerque and got about a foot over the last 2 days. Great review, thanks!
Thank you OldTantoGuy for all the knives you supply to the channel. This Manix is really impressive! It appears to really cut well. How heavy is it? Thanks for giving me a look at it!
That’s a proper outdoor knife for the woods by the looks of it. For a folder , the smaller size is a workhorse so this should be a little more of the OG version I am thinking . I prefer a larger knife in the outdoors , preferably the gerber or esee 4 has done me right .
I think the manix 2 XL might genuinely be my favorite knife. Like, I still have aspirations-knives I'd like to own and grails to chase-but ever since I got my XL, it's never left my pocket (at least, not by choice, lol). I just straight up don't have an EDC rotation anymore; what was initially bought to be my work knife quickly became my everything knife. It weighs a ton and is tanky as hell, taking any abuse I've thrown at it (and I suspect it could take _far_ more than I've given it), yet it's also slicy as hell for its size because it's not excessively thick and has fantastic edge geometry; it feels like it should be contradictory design, but it just works _so damned well_. Like, I know that there's no such thing as an "objectively, universally perfect knife", but speaking subjectively, I'd be hard-pressed to put anything above the manix 2 XL. Really, the only thing I think you can beat it on is weight, but frankly, the other qualities are just so good that I'm willing to deal with it or work around it unless it's an absolute requirement. Also, for reference, I think a factory edge would've been nearly as effective at cutting the pool noodle as the edge you used. It probably would've been a hair thicker, but it would've still been impressively thin, and I don't think you would've faced any substantial binding.
The Manix 2 XL is a fantastic contender for a favorite knife. I was so impressed by the performance here. I only wish I could have used it harder! The topic of the "objectively, universally perfect knife" is so interesting because of course it doesn't exist, but every knife reviewer ever is looking for it. And I agree. I have absolute faith that the factory edge would have performed great as well. Thanks for watching, man!
I seen a couple people who sell bags of the different geological rocks labeled for educational reasons or they sell bags of them tumbled for decorative purposes . Shipping might be a thing for the weight but for extra loot it might be a hit . People love shiny smooth pretty things and a lot of people believe there is power in the crystals or certain stones .
@gideonsstuff i have a para3 lw in spy27, I absolutely love it, holds an edge great, and strops right back to shaving sharp , it's kinda mind blowing how easy it is to touch up bs the edge retention. And that's what's making the xl vs regular a hard decision for me. I have xl glove size hands , maybe I'll get both and return the one I like the least😅

No snow down south where I'm at yet. My folks up north near Taos got about 20 inches so far though😂

It weighs about 5 ounces. Not a lightweight, but it's worth every ounce! Absolute banger👍😂

As far as hard use folders go, this is about as good as it gets!

A lot of people do believe in crystal power😂
I should start a rock shop and fleece the suckers...
I always wondered . Man l that sucker is big next to a pm 2
It's a big boy for sure😂
Ive been debating on the xl or the standard with the spy27 blade. Ugh! Been an ongoing back and forth for about 6 months
I need to test out SPY27! Whichever one you decide to go with, I'm sure you'll enjoy it👍

@collingodbey3737 Sounds like a great plan😂
What does the 121 on the blade stand for? Mine doesn‘t have it. Thanks!
I'm not sure what it means. No research brought anything up.
