I'm from WB but our community has more similarity with Assamese people. We call that 'Khar' thing 'Pelka' Sidol is also common. And pork , pigion , duck meat are common too. But my favourite Assamese dish is 'Pork'.

Maybe thai vlogs mei bhi duck ho…i dint notice. North India mei basmati, basmati tota, sela, golden sela, parmal etc use hota hei but elsewhere most of the regions prefer thick rice which has more fibre but less aroma as compared to Basmati. Aggar aap thick rice or parmal khaaney waaley ko basmati/sela rice dey gey to unka stomach jaldi fill nahi ho gaa….they will always prefer thick rice or parmal (“ohna nu taa he rajj aana j”). In my opinion Thailand’s Jasmine Rice is a good alternative if you dont find Basmati while travelling overseas….i m not sure if u tried it on ur Thailand Trip.
Agar aapne kabhi phele Beer 🍺 nahi piya hai to aapko Beer ka taste kharab hi lage ga. (Most of the Beer not all) Ha but kuch time baad ye achha lagne lagta hai. I personally love Beer. ❤️😋 I would suggest you to try Red Wine🍷or Vodka insted of Beer or Whiskey, if you have never consumed any liqure earlier.
Duck is one of the main cuisine of Assam,N fish also many varieties of fish are available here.. but Everyone in Assam dont eat pork..n rice i also like basmati,n Punjabi being an Assamese,desi murgee cooked in home style is much better than poultry chicken.. little different than Mutton..
