Joby Manufacturing - eVTOL Aircraft Production Highlights

  • Our strategy for scaling up manufacturing mirrors how we’ve approached aircraft development: prove out the concept first, and learn quickly through testing before making larger investments.
That’s why - in partnership with Toyota - we designed and built our pilot production line in Marina, CA, before investing in a larger factory. By dry-running our tooling and processes, we’ve been able to optimize our production and improve the manufacturability of our aircraft.
By making the right investments at the right stage of our development, we’re taking the most efficient path to high-rate production of our aircraft.
We recently announced plans to build our first scaled eVTOL factory in Dayton, Ohio, investing up to $500 million and creating up to 2,000 jobs in the region with an annual production of up to 500 aircraft.

This aircraft is wonderful! This is by far the best solution to the EVTOL aircraft in the market, that also looks simple, beautiful and solid.
The arrangement of the motors is very smart, they are all functional during the whole flight mission. Other EVTOL aircraft have propellers that are only necessary during the VTOL part of the flight, but useless during cruise. They look ugly and Ill-conceived. And unlike the Lilium jet (RIP?), the Joby actually flies, nicely and quietly!
Congratulations to the people making this dream possible! You are great engineerings!

Six props.? Looks like I'll be waiting for the next gen bird and see what it looks like. Part robot, part hand made. Each piece looks like its the final design to sell to customers rather than refining the flight handling, distance and batt size.

all the production line means from this point is that they are no longer being built like a one-off. in other words they have built te machine that builds the machine. also, they've been working closely with the FAA since way back, due to type certification being a mix between fixed wing and heli, there are new rules, new processes, etc. once the aircraft is certified, it essentially certifies the whole production process, because the certified aircraft will come from the production line.

Nobody can get an electric multirotor evtol to do much. If the joby could carry a person as far as an electric car from 1900 I'd be impressed.

Are you really that skeptical? You really think this 6 engine aircraft can't lift off with the additional weight of a person? The aircraft has batteries that easily weigh 10 times what you are requesting. There are several SINGLE engine aircraft that can fly with the weight of 4+ people... some of which have been around since nearly a century ago. I personally find it impressive that they are able to operate the aircraft safely without a pilot on board. Hundreds of millions invested by the DoD and Toyota, but yeah its all smoke and mirrors because they don't want to put a crash test dummy in the aircraft which actually would give a bad marketing move visually.

@@TheBagOfHolding I've literally seen it take off, fly around, and land with my own eyes, and anyone can. Go park your car just outside of Marina Municipal airport on a clear day. They fly it multiple times a week. In flight it is the quietest aircraft I have ever seen. Joby is a massive and growing company. You can be skeptical of their business model, but the fact that this aircraft can fly isn't even a question.

    • @brianhancock7021

@@TheBagOfHolding the batteries are built into the aircraft, they are the fuel of the aircraft... so yes, every video of it flying is it carrying the batteries. You need to do a little bit of research. Healthy skepticism is one thing, but just questioning everything without doing a little bit of research to understand what you are questioning is just annoying. Don't be another Mike Hughes RiP...
