The RTX might not be another RX 6500 XT but it does move the goalposts for entry-level GPU pricing yet again. But if it WAS available for MSRP somewhere, would you consider buying one?
Also, just to be perfectly candid the card we and other reviewers were sent had the incorrect BIOS. We received the reference clocked EVGA XC Black Edition but the BIOS on the card was for the standard pre-overclocked XC. ALL of the benchmarks were updated with the proper BIOS prior to posting this video. - Mike
i find it pretty good i have friends on gtx 970 systems(bought from another freind that upgraded their system), another with a gtx 780 who has plans of buying our other friends gtx 1070 for a 300$ ball park im sure my friend will knock down the price bc they dont need the $$$ and the guy buying it is "broke bois". The 1070 owner wants a true 2k capable card for g-sync etc. They managed a 3060 for 399 from evga's program. But they clearly want a lot more for their g-sync needs. TRICKLE down gpu economy XD. But yeah ive been telling them if they can get into the EVGA program the 3050 is pretty viable since theyre on 1080p. The ppl trying to upgrade their 970/780's. I mean 1070 performance at the potential of 300$ or less through evga...doesnt sound half bad for a brand new gpu vs used/potentially mined used gpus. I got a spare 5500xt 8gb just lying around bc i feel compelled to sell my newer system and hold onto the $$$ until am5/13th gen intel i9 chips....as the dust settles with ddr5 pricing and eventual better kits come out. My friend can raise a lot more settings with the 12gb 3060 from their 1070 and maintain the same frames as before. But they definitely want a 3070 or higher. Even streaming in something like discord to show a sesssion is a lot more ideal with nvidia. Or even games that offer mip streaming the nvec encoder with nvidia is just a cut above experience over amd, that people are able to stream with these 4-6gb cards in non intensive games etc. As well as the content creation potential. Nvidia seems to offer a lot more to the streamer/gaming/content creator demographic which is a huge chunk of consumers in the 150-400$ price range. IMO if most ppl at home lack a 165hz+ 1080p-2k panel as it is....its usually the designation that i would use to constitute recommending a gpu upgrade. Plus some older chips/ram/chipsets also struggle to push BIG BOI gpus to g-sync frame ranges as well. When in reality i infact would rather be on a laptop with a 5800h or an intel 6c12t or more...laptop with a 3050ti(if super cheap like 800-900$)...or a 130w 3060. It in my eyes is a better buy which can be sold down the road once real $$$ has been set aside for a great rig with ideal chassis/cooling. Id much rather do that than try to buy UP. A Step in GPU territory to push a much dated cpu/chipset "RIG" to equate to usable FPS. Like a 3060 or 3060ti with much older gen cpus zen-zen+, or older intel like 6000 series or the 4000 series...esp non k processors. Paying for a "Marked UP" gpu to push an old rig like that IMO is just all bad esp in this market just a BAD buy across the board. ESP with a lack of NVME/support. They dont believe me but for the various moba/arpg/mmo and EST a laptop and 1-200w of use some how is just all around better than an older 500w+ rig that essentially pushes the same frames.
for MSRP this is a great card, but today in my contry it's priced at 570$ and at this price I'm gonna go for Rx 6600.
I’d be reluctant to buy it out of principle because of how it represents at best level price/performance with cards from three years ago.
I almost made the mistake of buying the MSi Radeon 6600 8GB Armor card they re-released. Literally everyone on UA-cam was like do not buy this

If it was MSRP then it might be worth it, but everything costs above $600 at the moment. Both Nvidia and Radeon. Its MSRP is currently how the 1050Ti costs right now, which is ridiculous.
even worse is that it performs like a gtx 1070....but will somehow cost more than the MSRP of the GTX 1070.

What software packages are you using?
I'm looking to step my CAD game up, Don't need to spend a ton of money on a GPU as software like Fusion 360 and Solidworks are pretty CPU bound.
My overclocked i7-3770k/Radeon 7870 is just NOT cutting it anymore
According to GN hearing from nVidia, the card YOU got is actually suppose to cost an additional $50 because it came with the wrong bios image (confirming they charge more for different bios) and it should actually sit around the $300 price point, making it even Less comparable to the 6500xt. They aren't even in the same category at that point and shouldn't be matched against each other (despite what nvidia's bogus marketing team wants you to do).
exactly its a pure 5600xt competitor, and its own competition 1660ti/1660s. And the bs marketing only makes them look weak. Either way im getting major flashbacks to when the 5600xt was damn near the same cost as a 5700....and the 5500xt was so insanely expensive at launch all it did was promote rx580 sales. THEN nvidia made the 1650s, 1660s...and it really got price competitive. I mean i got a used 5700xt strix for 310, and a new asrock 5500xt 8gb for 145$ after rebate+key sale. So to me i only really care about price of entry im not really favorable to one side if its a GREAT deal. But nvidia is better for streaming /content creation...plus supports g-sync/nv reflex. Possibly youll see a 192 bit 12gb 3050ti but i have my doubts.

I've been with a GTX 960 for a long time I think I'll get this card If I can get a hold of one. I do most of my higher res gaming on my Xbox Series X anyway and use my PC basically as a Quake Champions, Warframe, SWTOR, and Overwatch machine. So getting those FPS bumps are going to be nice, that's IF I can get my hands on one.
are you on a high refresh monitor as far as the shooters. GL hunting a gpu the gains/smoothness will be great

I've been seeing both the rtx 3050 and 6600/XT at similar prices (PHP16000/$285) here in the Philippines, if the 3050 were priced at MSRP, it could've offered a better value, but seeing how the two cards from the competition is priced similarly, with team red having a better performing card and almost offers similar encoding/decoding hardware, it offers better value for the price.
4:53 Unless you have a source more recent than NVIDIA's official support matrix, the encoder used in Ampere is the same 7th generation as the 1660 Super and only the decoder is the newer 5th generation with added AV1 8-bit/10-bit. The 3050 doesn't have an advantage as far as I can tell in video encoding workloads.

I was able to acquire the evga rtx 3050 xc (non-black version) for usd299 a month ago. I didn't want to spend a crazy amount for a gpu. I have a R7 370 oc 4gb paired with an old fx8320e. Still 1080p and 60fps on 75% of games. After scoring the rtx 3050, I lucked up and got a R7 5800x for usd299 as well both brand new.
Unless the RTX3050 costs less than $400 shop price. Otherwise RX6600 can be had for $450 will be a better choice.

I learned not to judge a good gpu card by its core/clock speed because it's misleading, I now see that memory bus size and ram size are better indicators
I guess if you have a gpu that is still working properly for gaming or video rendering, then wait for something more powerful before changing. Gotta keep saving money for that. But if you're just building you pc now then you might wanna consider 3050.

the best GPU for ultra 1080p gaming is the rx6600xt. even the rtx 3060 12gb is below in 80% of the games
When the 20 series came out we got charged extra for new features so it's no surprise the 3050 costs RRP $100 more than the 1650. they'll do a Ti or a Super for $300 I reckon which will be like a 2060 in performance.

To me personally, I play Apex Legends a lot and it gets to that point where 30-60 frames a second is a call to make, I do get 100 frames+ at times, but the 30-60 FPS mark still appears on some areas especially open fields.
Unlike the RTX 2060, RTX 30760 nd above, it has the potential to get past 100 FPS all the time due to the double the capacity most, not all RTX 3050 have which is 4gb VRAM.
By that, I flick a lot to the point I wonder if I should put V-sync (frames are emphasized, not response time for keyboard and mouse) first to match FPS with my screen, it still allows tearing below the refresh rate, or pick the Nvidia Reflex (snappier response time, but frames just follow)... Either way it still skips important frames, and I don't have consistency with the FPS count, so my flicks depend on them.... This isn't usually an issue to RTX 3060 and RTX 2060 and above cards as iitzTimmy has RTX 2080 with 180 FPS, other streamer I know has RTX 3070, averaging 210 FPS. I am stuck in 30-60-120 inconsistency of frames, most likely due to lack of VRAM capacity of 4gb vram.
This isn't only in Apex, Quake Champions follow aim and timing, when the frames don't even follow my movement and it skips important frames too, this also applies to Destiny 2, just leaves some frames away, I struggle with the consistency of aiming in flicks in turn.
I used to play a lot of Call of Duty Mobile, Critical Ops, and I remember that it has that 30-60-90 FPS inconsistency in mobile. It skips some frames at times, so to me personally..
It is subpar on AAA multiplayer games, fits casual gaming and Esports titles the most.

It's noticeable when I move my screen around and not notice enemies in far range...

OK thanks, yeah if you're playing competitive games then you really can't afford inconsistent frame timings(or any dips below 60 frankly), personally even though I'm into single player games I'm just incredibly sensitive to frame timings so I use a 2060Super to lock games to 60/60/60 FPS at 1080P timings as preferable to even higher frame variable frame rates. As my main speciality is racers that is where I must have absolutely locked frame timings but I find variations distracting and hitching is a total game killer for me.
Just bought one for 296 dollars tax included at best buy during Black Friday and this gpu is amazing for the price I got it for! I can finally play any game with the same frames or more than my ps5 and I get wayyyy more storage with my pc

Hello, what's your thoughts on the Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3050 windforce model. The one with 3 fans. I had a 1660 before this model but my fan some reason broke off from the card. Why I dunno but I got stuck buying this card. So far I noticed that this kind of similar to the 1660 so was this a direct upgrade from that 1660 6GB to a 3050 8GB?

I switched from a ps4 to pc and my first gaming laptop have this 3050 and I’m impressed with what this thing can do, if this is a cheap graphic card or a low end graphic card i can’t imagine what a high end can do
The PS4 has something in the line of a GTX 1050 Ti, so the RTX 3050 is way better. Even the mobile version that is 30% weaker than the desktop version.-

I got my 3050 for just over $400. Coming off a gt750 it was a huge upgrade and well worth the money. I play games now that my 750 couldn't even launch and all at above 100fps so far 1080 full settings.
Same im from gt 630 and now i can run fornite at 100 fps plus with high/epic settings
Sucks the market for GPUs is so volatile right now can make a 25% difference in price just over 4 months. (Just bought and installed the 3050 yesterday for $310)

i got a RTX 3050 I thought I really had something great but Its running fine, this is my first Gaming PC. So I'm happy with it. Bigger Gaming titles gives it a hard time but just cut down on the quality and its fine.
Good review, but it discusses prices basing off the MSRP and we all know that those aren't real anyways. This card will be sold from $400 and up and by that point you're much better off with a 6600/6600 XT that you can actually find below $500 anyways.

in my country I just bought RX 6600 XT and it cost $750
here it being sold around 35k to 36k in rupees and the msrp is 22.8k so the msrp value talk is meaningless :P

Over here in Singapore, an rx 6500 xt is going for $320sgd(which is cheaper than a used 1660 or 1650 super) and a 3050 is selling for $650sgd at launch. I’m happy to be gaming on 1080p 60fps on a new build with the 6500 xt for the price.
Yuh, got an Asus Dual 6500XT three days ago for €215. Replacing my GT1030. Runs very well for most games at med settings 1080p. The only model of RTX 3050 I can find here in the Netherlands goes for €549. Which is the same price as the cheaper models of RX6600.

how can 2304 cuda units be slower than 1536 cuda cores of the gtx1660ti?
I got my rtx 3050 at msrp in August this year. I paid 320 dollars with tax and shipping, but if you take off 70 dollars of tax and shipping, it's 250 dollars.
It maybe disappointing but the 6500xt is still in stock which I guess is what AMD were going for and here in the UK at £199.99.
Shame no 75w version the Quadro A2000 is the 3050 counterpart and does just as well (seen it out perf) and its 75w
i love the 50 series but i will wit for the TI to have better value overall 💚
im sure in like 6 months...bc they cant really wedge a gpu into a price bracket between the 3050 and 3060 and the 3060 has 12gb. SO even if a 8gb 3050ti comes out...theyll only do it if they can afford to make it..as well as mem bit-rates/bus aspects and cost aspects to parts and how it affects their bottom line.

3050, dlss is really the only reason why you should pick the 3050 but they have very identical Performance in terms of gaming
Watching video's like this is helpful because i am planning on building a second system using a 3050 and a i3 12100F as a living room setup because there are some games that i would prefer using on my big screen TV than i would on a smaller monitor cause i find games like God of War for PC is more of a couch type of game than a sitting at your desk type of game.
We have to stop looking at what prices used to be and start looking at where they are now. I'm think about upgrading my 1060 6b to the 1050 ti oc because it's available and given the market is the only card that's priced relatively decent.

If you have a 10th Gen i3 the 3050 is the highest end GPU you can get that won't bottleneck your CPU & you get Ray Tracing.

So the desktop wallpaper isn't really a wallpaper
tested on recent drivers, its 10% faster than a 1660 super(the fastest 16-series card), but 15% slower than a 2060(the slowest 20-series card), but better ray tracing and DLSS than 2060. also has 8gb vram. if you plan to play game like Total War Warhammer 3 that 8GB Vram will do WONDERS vs 6Gb vram of the other 2. a RX 6600 is a good alternative but its as fast as 2060 but lacks features like DLSS and RT on AMD cards are poop. if you plan on recording/streaming, emulation, photoshop, video editing etc GET NVIDIA. for example, a 3050 will record SMOOTHER gameplay than a rx 6600. that is all. brute force is not everything.

RTX 3050 is 550 dollars ( 500 eur ) in Northern part of europe ( Finland; Estonia etc ). Most went away from shops in seconds even with that insane mark up. Old gtx 1650 is 350 dollars so jeah, we are doomed around here.
So what will this card look like next year ? Spend $400 now or wait I just cant see spending $400 on this card.

i mean looking at the used price of 1660ti or gtx 1070. IF these actually sold for 300$ or less....it wouldnt be that bad. But IF theres mark ups....youre basically paying 400+ if not 500$ for a gtx 1070. Which is a bit insulting considering the launch msrp of the 1070 being 380$ and 400$+ for AIB cards....also considering how terrible the 6500xt the 5500xt 8gb is even a more comparable card/option. as far as lower/end entry level gpu. even though the fps range is more like the 5600xt with the 3050.

It's the cheapest DLSS card you can get though; would love to see the value proposition in DLSS titles for 1440p gamers. My 1070ti is struggling.
Why would anyone own a 1070Ti and buy a 1440p monitor (or vise versa)?
The 3050 is trading blows with the 1070 Ti though. DLSS is a good solution to boost performance by a little but don't expect magic.
If I were you I'd be upgrading a 3060 Ti or a 6700 XT for a good price. That's like 70%+ performance boost.
It would be a sidegrade/downgrade on most titles that don't have DLSS though, so I'd suggest atleast aiming for a 3060 or better
@@t3amb4sh For it's time the pascal generation (1070 and up) were 1440p cards. Now that level of performance is more for 1080p or entry level 1440p (1660ti is actually decent at that rez, adding DLSS would be really good), I doubt the user your responding too bought a 1070 ti in the present day for 1440p, prob just had that card since 2017.
@@StoneSpartan47 I had a 1070, with a 1080p and then a 1440p monitor. I can assure you that 1070 was never a 1440p card. :) I bought 1080ti which was a true 1440p card by that time, to match my 1440p monitor. Which I still own.
1070ti was no different, it was right between 1070 and 1080, closer to 1070.
That's the reason I ask :) It's struggling now, it struggled back then! Not as much as today, but it did!
All that is great but dosen't mean anything if it's already sold out.....

I went from a rx 480 4gb to a 980ti .. It was night and day and spent roughly 300 with shipping off ebay .. Now ill prob go all in and buy a 3060 or 3050 .. because id rather paying a scalper than sit in line somewhere .. and thats sad

@@christophermullins7163 i mean from a power/thermals/noise standpoint in a build thats a HUGE QOL upgrade and it offers dx12 and dlss/rtx potential....its noteworthy to ppl trying to play all the latest AAA titles as well as those highly interested in upgrading their monitor to something more ideal.

IMO the frame yields are much near 1070 in 1080p-2k. Granted that was a HIGHER Tier price/hardware wise to the consumer the 1060 sucked bc it only had 3gb and the 1050ti had 4...which was sum BSSSS ngl. The 6gb 1060 at least was viable. Had a 4gb 1050ti in a acer nitro years back Great gpu....1060m had heating issues and 3gb KEK. Many of my friends passed on the 1060 for similar reasons 3gb was meh pricing aspects...most went to 1070/1070ti 1080s etc. I was on a 7990 i nipped for 300$ via newegg refurb. XD. SO yeh...ive been spoiled even to this day. Hate concepts like these gpus 3gb 1060, bit rates among the 1660 lines and vram. I mean to this day theyre selling 500$+ cards that have bad vrm/ram cooling out of the box SMDH.
The 3060 was meant to replace the 1060
in india 6500 xt is available at 25k bucks where 3050 is available at 40k+ bucks

@@atrocitus9198 These cards are just marketing anyway, the review copies all had the overclocked BIOS "accidentally" installed. One of the big retailers in the UK received 50 of them for launch. So that's probably like 1000 cards total for all of the EU.
