Design: When you started to apply the black, I thought, why don't we see colored pickling on UA-cam wood projects? Then voila!--out comes the red and yellow. I remembered the Mt Angel Library, by Alvar Aalto, has pickled aqua woodwork. Video: The magical spinning look might be a function of the lathe turning speed and the video recording speed.
Great process of highlighting the grain with the stain accents. I am curious about the hole drilled in the bottom with a plug. It appeared that the top hollowing didn’t extend down to the base hollow, unless you cut it out of the video. I thought it had the appearance of the beginnings of a lamp. Looks excellent however you designed its function to be.
Great piece of wood you started with. It turned to become a piece with great character. Some I’m sure fuss about the color but it truly magnified the character of this piece. If you don’t mind, can you explain why you drilled up through the bottom and plugged it? I think I understand but would like to know your thought/reason for doing it this way. Well done with this beautiful piece.
@@JackMackWoodturning getting the chainsaw out, securing the work, cutting it, putting the chainsaw away, cleaning up 2 messes rather than 1 would be my guess... Its still a new chain saw for me so i want to use it to cut grass... ahahaha again great video. :)

This is a method of hollowing out a hollow form with very small openings.. it saves hollowing from the top opening.

Interesting! Why so many different layers on the color?
Each colour is lighter than the next and is only partially removed causing an illusion of depth in the piece.

What type of stains did you use Jack, mineral, acrylic, ink ect.
This is alcohol ink.. it can be let down with isopropanol but intent to use it raw.
