hi folks :) you wanted to know where people are watching your podcast. i am enjoying your entertaining round from normandie at the moment where the wheather is quiet simular to yours in the uk ;) rain, wind and sun changing every five minutes. i really like listening to you four guys, it chears up my breakfast routine :)) i am looking forward seeing your golf stuff to come! go low! …but high in likes :)))
Whackin Niemann obviously fell through but I actually put in a big bet on Scheffler. And a cheeky bet on Fleetwood top 5. Big tourney for me. From Sweden
Me and my husband both listen from the UAE. You have the best content of the courses here and that got us hooked. Although I’m from Blackpool so I almost switched off when I realised you were Preston 😅
The coverage i thought was terrible except for the tv coverage. I liked that they had the premium to watch but they wouldn't say like what anyone else was doing on the course. The my group was so far behind the leaderboard on the app and website was ridiculous. I was watching in the us just to let you know. Great listening to you guys, keep it up!
Here in the US, The Masters is a tournament with limited advertisements. MUCH better than the usual Sunday coverage. It is probably the one that I will watch the most. However, it does not compare with the days of Cadillac or IBM being the prime/sole sponsor. There might be 3 breaks an hour of less than 2 minutes.
Prisoner of the moment Tigers first 5 years: 24 wins, 5 majors Rory’s first 5 years: 15 wins, 4 majors Spieth’s first 5 years 12 wins, 3 majors Scottie first 5 years: 9 wins, 2 majors Colin’s first 5 years: 7 wins, 2 majors
Someone remind Pete about his orange trousers and mustard jumpers from a very early UA-cam course vlogs. He and Jason Day both get dressed in the dark 😂
How can you say the back 9 isn’t good for drama when we saw 3 of the top four experience complete train wrecks? The back 9 is great, if you’re leading you have to play conservative but there are birdies available if you’re chasing. Scottie was just too good on the day, don’t blame the course.
Completely agree. Disaster and opportunity loom over almost every hole as it forces the best players in the world to make decisions and when the wrong decision is made or commitment is less than 100% anything can happen.
Nick Faldo is the only man that talks about his rounds at the masters more than Rick shiels. That in itself deserves a jacket……. Me a straight jacket cos I’m going insane listening to them both. 😂
I do not think people really thought Åberg would not be there in the end. I believe most thought we are not sure what to expect, cause he is good (stats show), and he is still young in the first major. His stats and finishes are actually really good. He only has one missed cut. I think he is going to be a force to deal with for years.
Aberg has 15 years of world-class golf ahead of him (Isn't he 22?), so he is naturally relaxed. Rory doesn't have that much time left, so he's pressing. I would be too; it's human nature.
hi, it’s me again :) maybe peter's idea of making the last two holes more spectacular is a thing for TGL. they could put a huge POND with a helipad and merchandising centre on the 18th, that would be entertaining 🏌🏽🙂🙃
Augusta wants the same scores to win every year and that's why the last 2 holes are just meh. They just kept making them longer and longer so you don't make birdie. They've kind of gone away from everything Bobby Jones wanted the course to be as far as being able to score with risk reward.
Think what people don’t realise about Scotty Scheffler is he goes for everything. He backs himself, he has no doubt in his mind about what he is trying to achieve. Be it a focused drive to the left hand side of the fairway to open a green up or a laser guided approach shot pin chasing. He is absolutely focused on getting the ball in the hole in the least amount of shots. I absolutely hate it when the pundits, Faldo (god the man loves himself) Coltart, Butch and McGinley (Mr Obvious) say Rory needs to relax and play more conservative. Think Butch ever told Tiger to play conservative??? Rory needs the fire (Ryder cup Rory), young fearless Rory again and just go out hunt down everything. And like Peter Finch, sack off this fade shot that causes more problems then the 1 good shot a round it brings. Play the big booming draw and go back to dominating golf courses.
If the tourney is close then 17 and 18 are great holes, if someone if four ahead then yeah they are kinda blah because you can bogey them and it not matter as much. But the tee shot on 18 is not as easy as it looks on TV, you do not have much room to hit the fairway. Take Bryson to Fornby's ladies, that would be hilarious to watch.
I am playing this game with my brother where we each have 10 picks (2 outside top 50), I went with Adrian Meronk thanks to Pete and heavily regret my decision!
Scottie, good as he is, is just the current 'Flash in the pan'. It won't last. But i suppose ha ing half his opposition, playing elsewhere, allows him to dominant the dross that has/have taken up the void.
Us old golfers who started late 90’s as juniors JD pants were what we wore lol the sweater was cool. When Jasper wore his flipped bill hats they bashed him.. when Van royen wore joggers they bashed him and now everyone wears them .. who cares I say
What's odd is that Scottie Scheffler hasn't won an official PGA Tour event beyond mid-April... (Hero World Challenge last December isn't a PGA Tour event)... and it's pronounced Oberg (Åberg).
@@lifebymickw just Billy no mates me. I've followed Pete for 4/5 years and love the work you all do. I posted this team on last week's podcast comments..
Absolutely here for the zach johnson analysis. Hes done like a wwe heel turn. Scheffler is an undoubted talent, but i hate all his ‘jesus died on the cross so i could win a golf tournament’, really bugs me.
I'll take your hot take a bit further Pete. If Augusta wasn't 'Augusta' and 'The Masters' with all the history and hype surrounding it, if it was just another private or public course (while being the same in every other detail), it's not a very interesting course to play. Don't believe me? Try playing it in a simulator... It's all just a bit boring as a golf course. Pretty, sure, but overall, meh.
Hopefully Scheffler doesn't dominate. It would be bad for golf. Yes Tiger did and golf flourished, and yes Tiger off course was not the most interactive. But Scheffler on course is just boring, he does not have the on course charisma Tiger had
actually it's about the performance, but the eyes as a spectator are also watching and I think they get quite offended ;) I share jack's opinion on the fashion at this year's masters :) my personal taste is 1000 times more suited to jason day than jon ram's carrot-trousers-lock :)) as an example. there would be many more, but that doesn't fit here :) the carrot doesn't make anyone look good! unfortunately, it looks particularly unfavourable on him as he has an athletically shaped backside and emphasises it extremely, in my opinion. i admit it, i only watch golf because of the bums. in gernual everyone looks like a pear in those. the main thing is that he likes it. after all, he is a golfer and not a fashion icon. i found the oversize era quite casual in terms of the trousers, but not the overly long polo sleeves - just baggy! maybe too much wu-tang inspiration going on by me ;) i want it to be comfortable and that i can move my ageing body in it without pain and that the trousers don't tear :)))) i hope that wasn't too detailed with my fashion excursion, sorry for that. (…„can it be all so simple“ ;)
…sorry but i cannot stop commenting… i don't know if any of you have noticed: jason day put on his stylish sunglasses after every tee shot, yo man, what a move! if his game didn't work then at least his outfit did!!!
Nick Faldo classed as an old fogie by an absolute nobody.😂 How many Masters have you won, Mick. You talk too much. Let's see how Scottie and the current mob get on when technology is taken back to the 90s. 😂 80s all round.
@@RoughCutGolfPodcast he could, but he needs to win another major first. Get the monkey off his back. Altho he has lots of scar tissue from the masters.
I’d take the under at 0.5. He’s 0/16. He’ll be almost 36 in 2025. Scheffler is 7 years younger, better at Augusta, and has 2x the OWGR points. Rory’s distance control isn’t great. His distance advantage will be less every year. His best chances are gone and he only has 10 left. Lots of good players haven’t won it - Miller, Trevino, Norman, Els, Goosen, Irwin, Stewart, Price, DL3, Harrington, BK.
Every week I come back for the intro but stay for the chat
Listening from a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks for a great podcast to keep us entertained!
I wouldn’t say Scottie making birdie on 6 of the last 11 holes was simply surviving the round.
Well said, 💯 he went and won it!!

Rather then change any of the holes. I reckon they should roll the ball back. Make it softer and spinier. So it doesn’t travel as far. Just an idea 😂
