I've had this same watch for about 11 months and can confirm everything you have said. I won't be messing with alternate straps since I really like the bracelet it comes with.
Picked up one about 2 months ago. I bought because I liked the way it looks and wanted a chronograph. Picked up an Archer grey strap for it. Looks and feels great..
Oh, thanks! Honestly, I don’t usually either. I used to do an unboxing, and then a review later. But the Chinese watch REVIEWS didn’t get a lot of views…so I just started doing in-depth unboxing videos instead. Seems to work. But a watch like this, or the STEELDIVE SD1970, that continually sells, I thought it was worthwhile. I’ll keep calling audibles….😂
The SII (Seiko Instruments) caliber VK63 is part of the hybrid mechanical quartz (mechaquartz) movement line. It is a chronograph movement that uses quartz technology for the main functions of the watch and a mechanical module for operating the chronograph
The 24h indicator is more or less useless here on earth, but since this watch mimics one that was used in space, it's actually very helpful. There is no day and night in space, no sunrise, no sunset, no 8 o'clock news. So, having that indicator really helps a lot keeping up your regular rhythm.
Actually, that WOULD have been a great complication on the original! I like your way of thinking. For me, it’s just that…a wasted AM/PM indicator. Maybe that could be useful in n Alaska, using your same thought process…
Very interesting video Witt. I got the Mission to Uranus version around 7 months ago and it's going strong. I confess that I took the bracelet off and replaced it with a handmade white leather strap, that cost half the price of the watch but added so much more to the look and feel. Very happy with it.
Always good to hear experiences. I personally wished someone - like Pagani or San Martin - made a homage of the Speedmaster Reduced. This is my favourite dial and sizes in the entire Speedy family, but was sadly discontinued. I think that while being mechaquartz, a homage of the Reduced would be actually better in most specifications.
A lot of people would probably prefer a 39mm case. Everywhere I’ve seen this PD-1701 v3 listed, it’s described as a 40mm case. It’s not. It’s a 42mm. But I wonder how many have ordered it thinking it’s a 40mm and don’t even realize once they have the watch and it wears so well!
@@katherinelangford981 The 47mm lug to lug makes more wearable than most expect, but it IS still a 42mm diameter case as well. I think it can wear well on smaller wrists, but you have to be comfortable with that "big watch" look.
I've been so tempted to buy the MoonSwatch, but from what I can determine, it's really not worth the money you pay. I'm so glad this watch exists and I think I'll grab one. Nice review!!
I just looked at the online availability of the "Classic Four," and the 30m water resistance rating caught me off guard! I forgot. The steel case with this Pagani, and tribute dial really make it a great alternative to the MoonSwatch.
It's $69 after the recent sale, I might get it anyway. My first Pagani was the PD 1751. Look into it because it's REALLY a tiny gem. I bought two, one to hoard. It's really that good.
Yeah, that's a beauty! Maybe because the original (surprisingly) wasn't as popular as expected? Love that handset! And logo only on the dial is always good with PD.
I'm on my 3rd PD and I have nothing but appreciation for the money that I've saved. I have 2 real Rolexes, 1 Omega, and 1 Tag and while they are great pieces, I wear my PDs daily comparatively.
Makes for a great beater, right?! I'm sure there's a sense of confidence when wearing a PD over the others, that it's easily replaceable if damaged while out and about.
I have the black one and the red bezel one. Both line up perfectly, both have their seconds hands hit the markers and they run very accurately. Awesome
I’ve owned this watch for about a year now and really love it. They really nailed the Moonwatch aesthetic perfectly. I decided to go with a brown leather Bund strap for a retro 70s look and it suits it perfectly. I liked the bracelet but found the edges a little sharp for my taste. Surprisingly I do use both the calendar and 24 hr features a bit (in business I’m often communicating with some people internationally using the 24 time). I do wish it had better lume and that the screw down crown felt a little more substantial. Otherwise I adore it and it’s absolutely my daily. I have a number of more expensive watches that rarely see the light of day anymore.
It's crazy how aesthetically pleasing it is at this price range, even with its limitations! You're not the first to comment that it gets worn more higher end pieces, too...so cool!
I'm so addicted to all these budget aliexpress watches, it's crazy how much more you get for your money compared to your usual budget Timex or Casio watches for example (though I still love those of course). Sapphire crystal is pretty uncommon in any "western" sub $100 watch. Obviously there are some tradeoffs but the only issues I've ever had have been related to straps and they can always be changed As someone who likes to switch things up I love that I can basically collect every style of watch in every color combo I want for a very reasonable price, much prefer that over splashing everything on a statement piece. Not to mention the fact that I wont be too sad if my $50 watch gets lost or breaks
Absolutely! I prefer variety too. It's great to have a few higher quality pieces to experience as well, but these budget watches offer so much, as you say, and are just fun to collect/wear.
I know Pagani is a step above their subsidiary Benyar, but still, I had the blue & rose gold Benyar version of this, and although there was absolutely nothing wrong with the watch, I owned it for less than two weeks before I sold it. It had a really neat look to it, but I just wasn't compelled to wear it. Since my house isn't a watch museum, and nobody was coming by to view the thing, no point in letting it take up space.
Yeah, I have to force myself to look the other way regarding the lume intensity and duration! I will say that it performs better than expected in dark conditions when your eyes are adjusted to the darkness as well. Just no lume awards for sure.
Honestly I get your point with the 24h but unfortunately thats just a drawback from the VK63 itself. I wish Seiko had a version with a 30 or 60 minute counter
No, I get it...not PD's fault. I bag on that complication in various watches, and other movements too. If they could engineer it to be an independent 24hr subdial (a GMT) then THAT would get me excited!
I've become a PD fanboi ! And this one is at the top. I have the later version without the 2 dots at 12. Compared to my Lunar Pilot (Bulova) I prefer to wear the pd-1701. I like the hidden date in black. And I upgraded my band to an xxl black leather.
Excellent summary and all points i totally agree with. Date for me is win win because it keeps the original look but adds date. 24hr comp is a disaster. Beautiful watch that i’d still be happy to own.
I have the PD-1644 with the white 'meteorite' dial, and the PD-1701 50th Anniversary one with the gold accents and grey dial which I ordered kinda by accident(and LOVE this one!!), but both are awesome watches and are EXACTLY accurate for months and months on end. Perfect. Perfect.
I showed my PD-1701 to a friend who looked at it for about 30 seconds and he pulled out his phone and ordered one....pretty good testament to how nice they really are @@WatchWitt
Absolutely right about most, if not all the comments. Got the Snoopy blue colour scheme and love it, swapped it out with a sail cloth, stitched band in blue and it looks the part. Time accuracy is spot on too. All in all beats the plastic offering by a country mile.
Thank you for sharing your 1 year experience with this watch Witt. I think it is a winner, and certainly a much better watch than the MoonSwatch. I have the PD Mars Project (or something like that) with a white dial and red accents and it has been terrific. I may pick up another version in the future as they have tons of different color combos. Thank you again. Be well my friend 👍
Yes, I feature the v4 meteorite style dial too! Those were beautiful as well, but I didn't prefer them over this classic black and white look. Definitely a good budget buy no matter which dial option you like!
I think we beat them up for the lume comparative to other watches. While I would say it's weak, I agree that when your eyes are completely adjusted to darkness you can make out the time.
I have the Seamaster one in black. It's absolutely insane for the money. Only problem I had were the rivets holding the pins in place inside the clasp. These weren't finished, and so sharp they scratched my arm. Genuinely painful to wear. I filed off the sharp edges, and now it's perfect.
During a sale, these can be picked up for about 65€ (70$), and that includes 21% VAT and shipping (I'm on the old continent). Just buy a second one, keep one on the bracelet, another one on the strap of your liking. Tadaaaaaaa.
@@WatchWitt I have my moments. 😊 Did you feel my pain today? I swapped bracelets between my two PD-1701 watches. I couldn't help but think of your video and laugh at myself. At times, I feel tempted to try my hand at servicing my own automatic watches, and then I realize just how much of a freaking clutz I am because it takes me half an hour to swap bracelets on a watch. 🤦♀🤦♀LOL
Pagani makes some high quality watches for insane good prices. I have 3 now and they are all great. I have the No Time to Die, Planet Ocean, and SpeedMaster homages. All of them are good. Even the Seiko movement in the 007 and Planet Ocean automatic's are pretty damn solid for the price point. You really cant go too wrong with them. I agree, though, I wish they'd drop the "Pagani Design" lettering and just go with the symbol, but other than that, they are 9/10 watches for the price point they sell for.
They absolutely do. I was quite surprised by the quality, as I had not even considered them, partially due to the name. And it's not even as bad as some others. Berny is another that I slept on...great builds there, too. They have also been experimenting with logo only dials. This PD GMT really kicks it up a notch, and is also logo only...check it out: ua-cam.com/video/8iCFx0hthZU/v-deo.html
@WatchWitt Damn that is nice, if I was going to get another PD I was going to get the Rolex explorer 2 GMT homage. But the one you just posted is amazing colours. I'll have to reconsider that.
@MrKevin486 Comes in blue too...also looks good, but the green and black is more dynamic. They up'd their crystal game. Just need some work in the lume department now!
@WatchWitt Yea that dial is amazingly eye catching. I want a new GMT anyways so it'll be a hard choice for me. I'll admit PD's weakness is the lume but they are getting better. The lume on the Planet Ocean homage is the best lume I've seen from them and it's pretty good.
And I subscribed of course. Lol… I screenshotted the (I think green) straps to attempt to find them online. - Is there an affiliate link I can go to so I help the channel/you?
@tassolovesar15s What time into the video and maybe I can help you find it? The green one I see has leather ends closest to the watch head. That one is from a Timex Expedition watch, so not available separately.
I was so blessed to find and purchase an older version V3, brand new. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it will be quality built like yours, Witt, with the second hand aligned with the markers. 👍
Cool! I wonder if it’s fairly common for this watch or if I just got lucky? I haven’t heard any other owners comment about that. Though, being a small seconds hand, maybe it’s not as crucial to some.
Just got mine today, love it, but out of the box the bracelet was clanky and cheap feeling, BUT grab a bottle of rock ‘n’ roll chain lube (blue) and work it into the bracelet and pins and wipe off and it is a completely new bracelet. Buttery smooth and quiet. I will probably still swap some new straps in and out, but it makes the factory bracelet very serviceable.
Maybe version 4 can have some more lume on the hands but other than that I've been happy with it and it gets some wrist time amongst a large collection.
I can attest to the quality here. I have 2 Speedmaster Professionals and really wanted the new white dial. Got that here for next to nothing and it works and looks great. To those interested in the real deal, this is a great way to try out the form factor and have something to beat without too much worry. Don't sell these short.
Excellent testimony. You’re among many who have said something similar in regard to owning the original and this version. I reverse engineered the situation for me…never really wanted the Omega UNTIL I tried this one…it gave me the itch!
The 1701 was also my first Pagani. I got the V4 with blue meteorite dial (very stunning look) just about a year ago. It is a great watch with much more value than the moonswatch in my opinion. I swapped out the bracelet right away...just wasn't comfortable for me. I have often wondered if Pagani chose 1701 as the number because it matches the USS Enterprise registry in Star Trek?
I featured that watch too! ua-cam.com/video/TdCCR0N2Sv0/v-deo.html I agree, also a great looking watch. Others have mentioned the Star Trek reference too. I know their model numbers are all in the 1700's, so not sure if it was intentional or happy accident.
Yes, I bought it just as a video idea and was planning on flipping it afterwards. I kept it. I was impressed and it actually has me jonesin’ for a real Speedmaster now!
Worried in what regard? It converted me. I really had no interest in the actual Speedmaster until I got this...now I want one and probably won't be able to afford one for years.
I also own it and love it , also removed the strap for a leather with white accents amazing. They have a v5 version which comes with meteroite dial in white or sky blue
I like the tan leather strap shown in this video...great contrast! Yes, I was one of the first to show off the V4 meteorite style dials. They came out RIGHT after I received this one, so I stumbled upon them and ordered right away. I did flip those, though, as I just prefer the look of this black dial. ua-cam.com/video/TdCCR0N2Sv0/v-deo.htmlsi=UAVxiPA4Mh5WQJTD
My main complaint (apart from the pointless 24-hour dial) with the VK63 movement is that I wish the subdial minutes hand clicked decisively when the seconds hand passed 12. Right now, the subdial markers are so tiny and the minute hand just slides from one minute to the next - it makes it hard to see exactly what minute you're on. It's a small thing, but I wish it had a more crisp advancement.
The 24 hour subdial is supposed to be a 12 hours counter; that's what it is on the original Speedy. If Pagani made a version of this with a 12 hour totalizer instead of a 24 hour subdial, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But I have not seen a Mechaquartz movement with a 12 hour totalizer in that orientation. The couple mechaquartz movements that DO have a 12 hour totalizer that I have found use a 6, 9, and 12 orientation - so it would not be a match for the Speedmaster.
Great video man. I've been deliberating between buying this with the bracelet and the regular band for quite a while. This video convinced me to skip the bracelet. I've seen an original Speedy with a Milanese mesh and I think I'll try that. By the way, at 3:30 there is a rubber strap with raised pyramids. That is very cool looking-where did you get that?
Thanks! I'm a bracelet guy, so I always like to buy it with the bracelet and do my own aftermarket if I have to. I have quite the little collection of straps too! The rubber strap you're asking about is the Super Waffle from StrapsCo. I've got an old video here if you want to see it up close. It's very thick and beefy! ua-cam.com/video/VOCUJnFxm8s/v-deo.html
Used to like purchasing homage watches from Aliexpress. But after a while found out to not get the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment of saving for the real deal. As I am one who likes the Wabi Sabi, I dont mind getting them used too. Keeps the value gives me more of a sense of satisfaction in life. Maybe it”s just me….
I completely relate to what you're saying...you're not the only one. I love the thrill of a great bargain with all these specs. I'm still INTO my homage watches, but for the most part could part with them easily if I had to choose between them and a major or microbrand watch in my collection. I've always like the homage watches best that pay tribute to a watch that is no longer available/manufactured or is incredibly unobtainable/expensive!
This is a great watch, the only negative and severe drawback is the lack of any AR coating on the sapphire . It really makes reading the watch distracting and annoying at times, to the point that I skip it and choose my Seiko Speedtimer or Bulova lunar pilot instead. I always tell myself that I can take it to a watch repair place and have the crystal replaced.
Yeah, they added anti-reflective coating to the PD-1779, which is basically the same watch…just blacked out and semi-skeleton dial. See the difference here: ua-cam.com/video/L-GE5W66SFQ/v-deo.html
I always promised myself the Speedy and in 2015, bought one, and I love it, but that hexalite crystal, and the fact that prices have now rocketed and wearing one makes you a target, these days the Pagani sits on my wrist most days, and yeah I know its not the same, but bloody hell its far better than the moonswatch and for less money (and yeah I bought one of them too!) Normally leave it on the bracelet but sometimes a Marine Nationale blue, black of khaki strap gets an outing. (Damn they're the most comfortable of watch straps). Anyway if you are ondering buying a PD, then don't, buy it and providing you can live with it not saying "Omega Speedmaster Professional" on the dial, you will love it.
Great testimony! You're not the first Speedy owner to chime in and let us know that you've got a Pagani too. It's great to hear that these give at least a LITTLE taste of the original. There's no arguing that they're a great buy/bull for the money, whether it's your beater watch or the nicest watch you can afford.
I have the same watch on the same silicone rubber strap as you have shown. I agree with everything you have said in your review. It is a great value watch. But that bracelet is an issue, I had to polish the rough edges out with fine grit sanding sticks. In the end I gave up and removed the thing, put it on Nato straps and the black rubber strap. A strap monster it is. The lume is simply pathetic. Like all PDesign watches lume application is frustratingly bad. PDesign are going to need to lift their game in future on all their watches to remain competitive. Other AE stores selling San Martin and Baltany etc to name just a few better presented offerings, are doing just that with astonishing quality at very reasonable prices. Cheers !
You're the second to comment on sanding down the edges! I don't feel they're THAT sharp, but they could definitely use some refinement. It looks great on the bracelet! I just don't want to bother with the hassle it takes to get it back on the watch head, so strap choices make more sense/fun! Yes, PD please to talk to STEELDIVE's lume manager! 😂
I'm shocked at mine. It keeps better time than my Bulova Lunar Pilot and it's "Ultra high frequency quartz" movement. I wear my Bulova Lunar Pilot to the office during the week and put the PD1701 on my wrist for the weekend. The 100m water resistance means that I can wear it in the pool, at the beach, and anywhere else I don't want to wear my Bulova Lunar Pilot. The abysmal quality of the "Moonswatch" tells you just what Omega thinks of individuals wishing to spend less than $1000.00 on a watch. My Pagani design tells you just what I think of Omega.
I have this Pagani Design 'Speedy', I also have their homage to the Rolex 'Daytona' (£70), looks fabulous on a Nato because once again the bracelet wasn't very good.
Yeah, if you love it on the bracelet, just leave it...until you're prepared to wrestle that thing off! Who knows, maybe I just got one with poor tolerances.
Thanks! I haven't seen their sailcloth in person, so can't comment to the quality. I have heard accounts of it fraying over time, though. The ARTEM is expensive, just FYI, but superior. I pretty much always recommend buying on the bracelet (unless you absolutely hate them) so you have that fitted end link, and buying your own aftermarket alternative straps.
Believe it’s V4, the markings on the Tachymeter are different and the two dots at 12 o’clock are missing, the rest appears as per video. Time accuracy is brilliant. Supplied blue sail cloth band is narrow and short for my wrist, swapped it out for a similar style and look better made with a quick release clasp, all in all bloody good value and made offering.
I would love an automatic version from Pagani, even if it would cost 3 or 4x more… that would still be a great homage to the Speedy, but with the movement of a Speedy Reduced.
SEAGULL CALIBER ST1902 I have an Invicta with this movement in it. A lot like the Venus or Valjoux This would up the price by a few hundred but worth it.
I hate the VK63 and related movements. That 24 hour subdial is useless and would be so much better if it was an hour accumulator. I wear my old school Sppedy Pro on a big velcro band to give it that NASA spacesuit look. Although I do like that sailcloth strap! Pass on this due to the movement, but if that doesn't bug you, i think its a steal at a small fraction of the original. Although it doesn't have the fancy "qualified for space missions" on the back like a real speedy pro.
I'm with you on the 24 hr subdial...does nothing for me. Almost any other complication would be better! You HAVE to put that ARTEM Sailcloth on your true Speedy! SO nice.
Hi Maybe someone can help me with this. I wanted a speedmaster homage and looked at the video on ali express so i ordered one. It came without the dots .I. and the bezel started at 400 and has Tachymeter spelt like this as opposed to Tachymetre so the watch in this video is the same as the watch promoted on the ali express Paggani Design video but i can't buy one. I got a full refund and they let me keep the watch but that's not the point, still can't buy it. On the website its vertion 3. Any help much appreciated!
They revised the watch for some reason...nobody really knows why. Speculation is that it was TOO close to the Speedmaster. They should change any promotional material (video, photos, etc) to reflect the current version. But there are many AliExpress stores that sell PG...doubt they all are going to do that.
Hi, Bro i'm checking many reviews from buyers 2024 in Aliexpress and thing is the Bezel scale is different (lines instead of dots) also the 2 white dots at the 12 o'clock marker gone missing... and the watch itself looks cheaper... yours looks fantastic but seem like Pagani is going cheap right now... IDK..
Yes, they changed them. Nobody really knows why, but speculation is that they were too close to the original watch. I've seen reviews featuring the changes...the watch looks identical in quality/build...just those revisions are different.
Amazes me that Pagani managed to make a quartz movement thicker than the mechanical original. By the way mecaquartz is not a mechinical chronograph, it merely has a small mechanical flyback mechanism for the second hand.
Haha, right?! I love the crystal distortion though, so don't mind the thickness. Yes, I'm aware it's not a mechanical chronograph. The most simple way to explain the name "mechaquartz" is to say what I did.
It is a mechanical module driven by a 2 pole stepper motor as described in calibre corner. Mechanics generates the ticking secondhand sweep. It emulates a traditional ticking chronograph. I don't think it is merely a flyback secondhand as you describe. Agreed it is not a complete mechanical chronograph as it is part of the quartz movement.
I get it. It makes sense, to save battery life...especially if you accidentally started the chrono! I guess if you want to time more than an hour, you should just fork over the money for a mechanical chronograph.
What?! Did they change it? I noticed on the new Dark Side of the Moon homage that they are no longer there, but figured that was just because of a different dial. I love those dots! ua-cam.com/video/L-GE5W66SFQ/v-deo.html
I wonder if they changed it due to resembling the original dial too much? If so, the next one you get will probably be the same. It's expensive to send back to Hong Kong!
I'm not positive, but they earlier versions had the dots, then they mysteriously disappeared. Some have speculated that it made for too close of a match to the original watch's dial.
Mine comes Friday. Once the rest of the planet finds out about these. They will be hard to get one on your wrist. Might get a few more just in case. lol
@enmovimiento3766 Too funny...I'll have to look him up. Somebody else said I sounded like the Blind Surfer. Must just be a common radio/voiceover sound that I have!
@@WatchWitt same here. I get frequently those questions on my channel too. People says you sound such of so and so radio voice over from my country and i like mmmm not im not him 🤣🤣🤣
@enmovimiento3766 Haha! Well, these days you don't have to physically be IN the same city on the radio...so I guess it's possible. I love watching your Spanish language videos from time to time, just to hear your "classic" voice! I have no idea what you're saying, though. 😂
Hi was wondering do people with small wrist not able to wear the bracelet it comes with? Oh and does the glow in the dark last for a few minutes or just a few seconds. I’m so excited to get mine this weekend always wanted a speedmaster but deliver is taking like a whole week.
It’s just that I’m so excited it feels like it’s taking so long and I have so much work at school so the days are long study for the whole day everyday even on the weekend even if I don’t have to do the days are. long 😢😢😢😢😢
lume on pagani watches suck a lot. it' s the same on all of their watches, too bad.. but it's not 90 here, it's up to 120 euros, which is one of the most expensive pagani design. have a look on the latest PD-1736, "panerai-style. this one is beautiful, and this one is really a steal: 56euros , with a NH39 inside! it's almost the price of the movement itself..
I have two of these. The 50th anniversary one with the gold accents and the same one as yours. I love them both. The first one always sits on its bracelet. The other one also came on a bracelet but like you I removed it and I have a few straps and bands for it and swap them regularly. The watch really suits pretty much all styles and colour straps and bands you put on it. A few months ago I even bought a third one. Another classic black dial with white hands. I bought this one as a gift for my father. He hadn't worn a watch in decades so I didn't know how he would react to it but he loves it and wears it all the time now. I have a few other homage watches but these are my favorite ones. They really are great looking watches. Specially for this amount of money.
Yes, this watch hasn't really seen a strap it doesn't like...some are just better matches than others! Definitely a great budget watch. I might check out the new 1779 Apollo version soon...
@@WatchWitt I didn't know about the 1779 model. Just saw it and I must say, I like the look of it. Chances are I will be getting that one as well in the future.
@Bimmerstye1 Just came out. I'll put it on the channel as soon as it comes in from Hong Kong! (Weeks?!) I'm hoping the leather rally strap is halfway decent. We KNOW the watch is. I think AR coating was added to the underside of the crystal too...not positive.
Those are Juelong's version of a Tropic Strap...available on AliExpress as well. Here's my video featuring them: FKM Rubber Straps Under $10! Juelong Watch Band Review - AliExpress ua-cam.com/video/7YVt0e6dbq0/v-deo.html
Question, will this fit my 16,5cm wrist? Since i saw multiple people saying the bracelet can’t fit small wrists since you can’t remove many links. I have a 1653 atm with a few removable links spare.
It should, in theory, if your PD-1653 fits. That watch has a lug to lug of about 48mm, and this one is just a tad shorter at 47mm. They do offer strap options instead of the bracelet, but I always like to own the bracelet and swap other aftermarket straps on my own.
@@WatchWitt hmm yeah okay good point. Usually not someone who likes to try other straps. Almost always wearing the original bracelet. But since this is literally a strap monster, there are enough different solutions. Thanks for answering!

I've had this same watch for about 11 months and can confirm everything you have said. I won't be messing with alternate straps since I really like the bracelet it comes with.
Yeah, if you love this bracelet no need to take it off. BUT…it looks great on SO many straps!
Excuse me, where was this watch made and is it of excellent quality?
@user-zz2em8lq2n These are manufactured in China, and so far this watch has represented excellent quality.
I’ve had mine for some time and cannot be happier with it!
Great budget watch, and looks good on tons of straps!
Picked up one about 2 months ago. I bought because I liked the way it looks and wanted a chronograph. Picked up an Archer grey strap for it. Looks and feels great..
It really does have a great feel to it, in your hand and on your wrist. Great case...!
Thanks for the review, just ordered earlier, can't wait😊
You're welcome...hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine!
I just bought it because it looked so good and I have been happy with it ever since.
It’s definitely a looker! I love the black ceramic bezel insert in the sunshine!

Great stuff.

Precise description.
@@WatchWitt Would have been nice if they had at least made the hand on that subdial adjustable - sort of a mini GMT hand.
That's what I've always said. If Seiko could improve that to be adjustable, I'd love to use it to track a second time zone.
Very interesting video Witt. I got the Mission to Uranus version around 7 months ago and it's going strong. I think that while being mechaquartz, a homage of the Reduced would be actually better in most specifications.
Who knows…maybe that’s brewing somewhere…!
Hope so. Have a good day, cheers
I would LOVE that. I suspect this is and the Speedy pro will be too large for my small wrist, but the speedy is a grail for me.
You have a great radio voice! I am new to be obsessed with watches and just ordered two diff. Paganis....Looking forward to them.
Thanks! Which two Pagani's did you get? This one is on sale for $59 right now!
Awesome
Seiko makes a great movement! Excellent choice by PD. I dig this mecaquartz, with the exception of the 24hr subdial.
Obviously there are some tradeoffs but the only issues I've ever had have been related to straps and they can always be changed
As someone who likes to switch things up I love that I can basically collect every style of watch in every color combo I want for a very reasonable price, much prefer that over splashing everything on a statement piece. Not to mention the fact that I wont be too sad if my $50 watch gets lost or breaks
Absolutely! I prefer variety too. It's great to have a few higher quality pieces to experience as well, but these budget watches offer so much, as you say, and are just fun to collect/wear.
I think casio is better than timex, just my .02
@TheCK84Project Me too. I've got a long time love affair with Timex, though.
@@WatchWitt timex is still a good company
I know Pagani is a step above their subsidiary Benyar, but still, I had the blue & rose gold Benyar version of this, and although there was absolutely nothing wrong with the watch, I owned it for less than two weeks before I sold it. It had a really neat look to it, but I just wasn't compelled to wear it. Since my house isn't a watch museum, and nobody was coming by to view the thing, no point in letting it take up space.
Haha! Wait, you mean some houses ARE watch museums?! Yeah, if there's no connection, no need in hoarding it. Let it go free into the world...
If you could use that 24hr indicator as a separate time setting that would have been a cool dual time feature.
I agree. As it is, it's just a fancy AM/PM indicator. Limitation of the movement.
I really like mine! If only they had added more lume, I could live with the rest of the design decisions.
The Pagani Daytona homage is a great deal too.
That one doesn't appeal to me for some reason. I'm sure it's a great deal, though!
I've become a PD fanboi ! And this one is at the top. I have the later version without the 2 dots at 12. Compared to my Lunar Pilot (Bulova) I prefer to wear the pd-1701. I like the hidden date in black. And I upgraded my band to an xxl black leather.
I've had a few in on the channel...really diggin' the Zulu Time homage: ua-cam.com/video/8iCFx0hthZU/v-deo.html
Excellent summary and all points i totally agree with. Date for me is win win because it keeps the original look but adds date. 24hr comp is a disaster. Beautiful watch that i’d still be happy to own.
I wonder if Seiko has a similar movement where that 24 hour subdial is independent...essentially a Chrono GMT? This is a beauty budget watch, though!
I believe it does. Doesn’t make sense really.
I have the PD-1644 with the white 'meteorite' dial, and the PD-1701 50th Anniversary one with the gold accents and grey dial which I ordered kinda by accident(and LOVE this one!!), but both are awesome watches and are EXACTLY accurate for months and months on end. Perfect.
Perfect.
Definitely great value and accurate! It's a bonus that they look beautiful and wear well!
Glad to hear you're enjoying it! I'll bet that sailcloth looks awesome with it!
Great review! I've got the version 5, the Mission to Mars/Alaska Project design, even has a sapphire bezel. Outstanding build.
If you know, you know...right?!
@@WatchWitt Exactly! 👍👍👍 Just spent a week enjoying buys from Sugess, with the ST1901 column wheel chrono. Great stuff!
@135ipocketrocket2 Beautiful!
@@WatchWitt 👍👌
I've got one and I gotta say, the lume is quite good. I can read it all night long with no problem.
I think we beat them up for the lume comparative to other watches. While I would say it's weak, I agree that when your eyes are completely adjusted to darkness you can make out the time.
I agree, the V3 version's lume can be read a looong time with night adjusted vision.
I have the Seamaster one in black. It's absolutely insane for the money. Only problem I had were the rivets holding the pins in place inside the clasp. These weren't finished, and so sharp they scratched my arm. Genuinely painful to wear. I filed off the sharp edges, and now it's perfect.
Bracelets are an area for improvement, but like you said, at this price it's a compromise.
I bought one and it’s high quality
Definitely outstanding build quality for the low price!
I think they could sell it for 200-300€ too. What a bargain.
@@BoccaccioAC If this were a microbrand watch with a good name, and maybe a little less 1:1 homage...absolutely.
Yep just purchased the V3 & like yourself put it on a fkm tropic.Looks lovely. Thanks for the review 👍
Looks good on SOO many straps...enjoy!
During a sale, these can be picked up for about 65€ (70$), and that includes 21% VAT and shipping (I'm on the old continent). Just buy a second one, keep one on the bracelet, another one on the strap of your liking. Tadaaaaaaa.
THAT's the way to do it...keep one on the bracelet, and the other floats as a strap whore! I like the way you think!
@@WatchWitt I have my moments. 😊
Did you feel my pain today? I swapped bracelets between my two PD-1701 watches. I couldn't help but think of your video and laugh at myself. At times, I feel tempted to try my hand at servicing my own automatic watches, and then I realize just how much of a freaking clutz I am because it takes me half an hour to swap bracelets on a watch. 🤦♀🤦♀LOL
It's not you...this fitment is tight, and complicated by those cheap-ass springbars! I tried various tools....none were easy.
I am color blind….those other straps make the watch pop a lot to me. Looks great. Thank you for sharing.
Oh, wow...interesting comment...thanks!
And I subscribed of course. Lol…
I screenshotted the (I think green) straps to attempt to find them online.
@@WatchWitt Good things happen (for a reason) to good people…
Just got mine today, love it, but out of the box the bracelet was clanky and cheap feeling, BUT grab a bottle of rock ‘n’ roll chain lube (blue) and work it into the bracelet and pins and wipe off and it is a completely new bracelet. Buttery smooth and quiet. I will probably still swap some new straps in and out, but it makes the factory bracelet very serviceable.
That's quite the DIY fix! Yes, these look good on SOOOO many straps! I haven't had mine back on the bracelet for quite some time.
Maybe version 4 can have some more lume on the hands but other than that I've been happy with it and it gets some wrist time amongst a large collection.
Unfortunately, versions after this have not improved in the lume department….but we can keep hoping! I’d pay $10 more (or whatever) for STRONG lume!
Great idea!
Thanks for the info looks great with just about any strap❤
Yes, black or white dials are usually pretty versatile like that. Fun to be able to change the overall look for some variety. Thanks for watching!
I have three....love them ❤
Cool! Which dials/colors?
@WatchWitt a black speedy, gold and gray dail and a 57 speedy arrow hands.
@@scarredhandsreviews Nice!
I wear mine on a black nato strap with brushed hardware, love it!
Great look!
Thank you for the review!!! Just subscribed as well!
You're welcome...thanks for coming along for the ride!
Looks surprisingly great! A real steal.
Yes, I bought it just as a video idea and was planning on flipping it afterwards. I kept it. I was impressed and it actually has me jonesin’ for a real Speedmaster now!
I'm embarrased to say I had it for over a year without even realizing it has a date window which I didnt want anyway.
I told you it was hard to see! The V4 omitted the date.
@@WatchWitt I like the Incognito date window
@@TheCK84ProjectThere if you need it, invisible if you don't!
Great watch! Had mine just over a year, lume is poor but a fantastic watch for the money.
Totally agree! Thanks for collaborating my story.
...look's so good im a bit worried about getting one
I’m thinking of getting a tagheur or fossil leather bracelet on it they look so good😅
It looks great on leather!
I have this. model. It's every bit as good as you say it is.
It really is a nice budget watch, with great looks!
I'll give you that. I have another Seiko chronograph movement that does that and I do prefer that style. It's more interactive.
I love my speedy pagani
It's great for everyday wear!
I’m with you…that subdial is just a wasted piece of real estate to me! BUT….it’s a great budget watch, so I just ignore that portion!
The neat thing about the 24-hour subdial is that you can grab the approximate time of day without having to read the wider watch.
Ok...I never would have thought of that. Still not for me. 😂
Great review! I'd like to know whats the bracelet width at the clasp? I wanna know if it's 18 or 20m.
Thanks! It's a great budget watch! Yes, the bracelet tapers to 18mm at the clasp.
Thanks
You're welcome...those are great quality straps for super cheap price. I have a ton of them in different sizes/colors!
@@WatchWitt Maybe for version 5 they'll add AR
From a distance it seems to read porsche design....😁😁😁😁😁
Haha! Yeah, I prefer the logo only dials from PD….
Excellent review
Thanks! Crackin' budget watch.
I always promised myself the Speedy and in 2015, bought one, and I love it, but that hexalite crystal, and the fact that prices have now rocketed and wearing one makes you a target, these days the Pagani sits on my wrist most days, and yeah I know its not the same, but bloody hell its far better than the moonswatch and for less money (and yeah I bought one of them too!)
Normally leave it on the bracelet but sometimes a Marine Nationale blue, black of khaki strap gets an outing.
I love there rime pieces . I have this one the red and rhe baby blue one too.
Cool! Affordable enough to have multiple color choices of a watch you love!

@@WatchWitt I have this watch also, it's been a super watch the past months I have had it.
@@Tomaso-TheGreatAbsolutely...it's a great budget watch!
Just great watches for a good price!!! 👌💯
Absolutely!
Wow! That IS surprising! Definitely a great little Seiko movement inside.
I have this Pagani Design 'Speedy', I also have their homage to the Rolex 'Daytona' (£70), looks fabulous on a Nato because once again the bracelet wasn't very good.
At least most of the retailers include that free Bond NATO to get you going, too. I love this on all kinds of straps, though!
I've enjoyed mine for quite some time now. Have yet to swap the band though. Thanks for the heads up on that and for a great review.
Yeah, if you love it on the bracelet, just leave it...until you're prepared to wrestle that thing off! Who knows, maybe I just got one with poor tolerances.
Great video and great review! Q: on Amazon there is a black sailcloth option is it any good? Better to get the Artem instead? Thanks.
@@WatchWitt I will order the Artem ;) Looking to your next review.
They look great together, that's for sure!
i would trust it more in space than my moonswatch hahaha
Haha....well, I never thought about that! Maybe...!
Ordered the Snoopy on a sail cloth band for 120 Australian dollars, looking forward to seeing if it stacks up as per the video
Great price! The blue and white...did you get version 2 or version 5? Come back and leave your thoughts on it after the first week!
That would be cool. I wonder how many people would be into that?
SEAGULL CALIBER ST1902
I have an Invicta with this movement in it. A lot like the Venus or Valjoux
This would up the price by a few hundred but worth it.
I wish it had no date and a full mechanical movement. Would pay easy double the price
I think a lot of people would! There are some variations without the date, if you want to play around with the mechaquartz for a while...
I've had one a little over a year and I really like it. Mine stays on the bracelet.
I like the bracelet too, but I haven't had it on for a while...looks SO good on so many different straps.
SO nice.
Mine gusslThe watch arrived quickly and is in very good condition. I am ecstatic with my purchase and the excellent quality. Very recommended
Very nice...glad to hear!
Thanks
But I think I might have to get a different bracelet because I don’t think it will fit even if it gets fitted for me
It should fit!
Wow, you're the only one to mention that the chronograph stops at 60 minutes. Seems a lot of companies miss the point of what they're making.
I get it. It makes sense, to save battery life...especially if you accidentally started the chrono! I guess if you want to time more than an hour, you should just fork over the money for a mechanical chronograph.
Its a nice looking watch white on black
Always a great combo!
have this and binned the bracelet it was too poorly finished and sharp, the watch itself is fine with the seiko movement very good
Yes, a little sharp, but I'm ok with the bracelet overall. Just don't like the process of removing and/or putting it back on the watch head. Bear.
I didn’t hear you mention the size of the bracelet / inner lug to lug measurement. Could you share that?
20mm...it's right up front at 00:37
Hi. Do you have a link for the Nato band shown at 5:57? Thanks!
It was a 2nd strap included with my purchase. I'm not sure if many of the AliExpress stores still include that free. But it's a Pagani branded strap.
That's how a watch value should be
The quality does amaze me!
I have the same beauty only my problem is the chronographe stop after ~30sec
What?! That's no good. Is a hand obstructed, or the battery low?
Mine arrived with no dots at the 12 marker! Small dots but iconic!
What?! Did they change it? I noticed on the new Dark Side of the Moon homage that they are no longer there, but figured that was just because of a different dial. I love those dots!

I'm sending it back. It must be an error but I have seen some on Amazon and eBay with no dots. I got mine from the official PD store on aliexpress.
I wonder if they changed it due to resembling the original dial too much? If so, the next one you get will probably be the same. It's expensive to send back to Hong Kong!
@@jonathanlloyd2306Its the new design, they made it worse, also the numbers on the Tachimetre look different. 🤮
Do you know why some have dots on each side of the 12 marker and some don’t?
I'm not positive, but they earlier versions had the dots, then they mysteriously disappeared. Some have speculated that it made for too close of a match to the original watch's dial.
Do you have a link for the rubber strap? I can’t find them on AliExpress
Sure...it was in the description of the video I sent you...but here's direct: Tropical FKM Strap

Mine comes Friday. Once the rest of the planet finds out about these. They will be hard to get one on your wrist.
Might get a few more just in case. lol
Oh, don't worry...they'll make more! 😂
Hey Mate weird question:
R u Johnny from WAPP 🎙️??
Nope.
@@WatchWitt sound so similar 🤔
You should be able to get this bracelet to fit you. The luminescence is pretty poor...doesn't last very long. A week is pretty quick!
Would be great if they stepped it up a notch, right?!
@@WatchWitt Great! I'll keep an eye out for your video then.
this is way better than a real moonswatch.
I don't have a MoonSwatch to compare it to, but I definitely lean towards this option too!
Where Can I but the rubber strap in the video?
Those are Juelong's version of a Tropic Strap...available on AliExpress as well. Here's my video featuring them: FKM Rubber Straps Under $10! Juelong Watch Band Review - AliExpress

@lorenzo7687 Definitely fun to swap around straps on this one...it might even give you a strap habit!
where can i buy this black strap with white lines that u recommended?
That's from ARTEM. artemstraps.com/collections/sailcloth-watch-straps and my review of them is here: ua-cam.com/video/Ag6IunpgO5Q/v-deo.htmlsi=f2kXK--RAIT8Uvew
