I appreciate how Chinese preserve their tradtional complex so well in the middle of city like this one. So neat and tourists-friendly. Anyway, Odin is similar to me, kind person who loves quiet and more-natural places. I prefer travel to non-touristy or less-tourists places than crowded modern places. Now I curious what Odin does for his family's living. Haha

quite a few ancient towns around there, mostly by the water and having a lot of canals: 甪直Luzhi，周庄Zhouzhuang，千灯Qiandeng，锦溪Jinxi，just from memory. All are quite beautiful.
I just checked, in Suzhou the canal is part of the grand canal, 1,776 km long, first built about 2,500 years ago but many parts were connected about 1,500 years ago.
Suzhou Mudu Town is my second hometown. I worked in DuPont Suzhou Company from 1997 to 2005. I bought a small apartment in Mudu Town and after 2005 I returned to Shanghai to work. So I am very familiar with Mudu Town. By The way, there are two beautiful mountains near Mudu Town, namely Lingyan Mountain and Tianping Mountain.
The tree you are talking about is the weeping willow, hard to miss it with those drooping leaves and branches , yes you do get it in India in Kashmir and Darjeeling the ones in Darjeeling are reported to have been brought from China, the willow wood is soft ,good for carving (not high end furniture), toys and in India they primarily use it for making cricket bats Summer has finally come for you, Odin looking good with his hair cut
Suzhou is famous with many gardens. Hundreds years ago many rich traders settled in Suzhou and they built luxury houses with beautiful gardens for retirement. Those gardens are not very big in space but very well designed.

I’ve seen videos from people of different countries, such as Canadians, Americans, British, Mexicans Australians filming and showing videos in UA-cam not only in the beautiful tourist spots but also in the not as beautiful rural, non-tourist areas.

The thing you don’t see in this vlog, the greater Suzhou region just surpassed Shanghai in industrial output. There are high tech, new energy, biotech companies all over the suburb areas.

In the past, south Korean adopted a lot of China’s culture therefore there are a lot of similarities. The language also used to be same but they changed it a few hundred years ago to make their separate identity . But the food and architecture have a lot of similarities

That garden was quite nice . Ruchi, you should visit Dali and Lijiang in Yunnan province someday . Dali especially is very beautiful. I think they say the most artistic / creative Chinese people move to Dali .Both Dali and Lijiang are very close to each other . I went there few years back and was amazed at how beautiful the olden architecture was . It’s actually more authentic looking than than the one in this video . Of course , some parts like the touristy old town in Lijiang have become a bit touristy but even then , it’s so pretty . Generally speaking , when you look at the skyline , it’s so beautiful to see so many old traditional houses with courtyards . Dali is so dreamy too 😍 Yunaan in general is very beautiful. It’s the province where most of China’s ethnic minorities live . Its so different to the rest of China . Green mountains , blue skies and just beautiful old style homes ! I liked that it didn’t feel like a big hectic city . It had modern amenities but felt so laidback . I have friends there and hope to return there in the future when the borders open .I love Yunaan and am itching to explore more of that beautiful western province .
