    This is incredible and I can’t stress it enough how much good information there is on this channel, even if you’re not a total beginner! I am wondering about his iPad “tethered” setup, I am guessing it’s using the camera’s wifi, but the app doesn’t look like the Canon app. Care to share more about that process? And I am guessing the iPad is just being AirPlayed to the TV? Thank you so much!!!

    Loved the video. Question: When you said "Free focus", are you in manual focus, setting your focus to a spot and then setting the camera to something like F8 to make sure you don't miss focus? I had to laugh because you said the same thing I do when trying to get the kids to do some movement..."don't get hurt". I can't image what the coach would do to me if one of the kids pulled a muscle. LOL

    • @byuphoto
      @byuphoto  Рік тому +1

      Sorry for the confusion, I'm actually using auto focus and I'm tracking focus on the athlete at all times. Most of the shots from this video were shot with the 70-200mm lens at F/5.6 1/200 sec - ISO 250.

    Thanks a lot for sharing with us the BTS, it's really really useful.
    I don't have as many lights as you do, and was wondering if instead of using 4 lights behind the white fabric, I could get a similar result with two 600 W lights each with a 6 foot umbrella (one next to the other). What do you think about this "solution"?

    • @byuphoto
      @byuphoto  11 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely, I'm a big believer of making what you have work. You might be able to get away with just one light, but try to keep it a good distance away from the subject. If you are shooting football make sure that it isn't too high so that light will get inside the facemask.

      @@byuphoto I do mostly basketball, and I was looking for a new set up to get more dynamic shots; because I could see some blur on the hands and sometimes the ball. I'll try with two 600 as the main on one side, two 400 as rim light and a 200 as fill light.

    Is a key light necessary? I have done intro videos for sport but am new getting into photo. The budget i am working with allows for the Profoto D2, and 2 continuous lights to use as “hair lights”. Do you recommend that I use these hair lights or use them as key light s. Great, very informational channel

    • @byuphoto
      @byuphoto  5 місяців тому

      I would use the d2 as key, usually you will need the most power and control out of the key. But you can switch it if your continuous lights have enough juice.

      Dave and I have been working together for long time and we realize what we create is a collaboration, we usually are on the same page before the shoot, but once in a while I will make adjustments or try something different. The athletes don't have a problem with taking direction from either chef.

    • @byuphoto
