Tried the code within 8 hours of your video release but no success. Thought I might give them a try.
@@iandewsnap1119 Interesting... I just tried it and it worked.
materials are crappy
For texture I have been using Irish knit sweaters in cold situations.
That's a great tip @3:39 !! Whenever I wear a v-neck and dress/sports shirt, the collar goes all over the place.
Bravo John! I love to layer. You are the premiere resource in men’s fashion and when you model you consistently have that GQ look.
Thank you!
Black and brown actually go very well together, provided it's done right. Black chukka's, brown chino's, black belt, oatmeal polo, and black quarter zip. Black or brown watch, leather bracelet, etc. Also, your black or brown glasses will easily work.
You'll be one of the best dressed guys in any room.
Some great ideas here, as always! And THANK YOU for settling a debate I'm having with a friend. I feel collars should be inside sweaters when layering, not out. Glad you agree with me!
I totally agree, but I still see both sides of the style opinion. It’s just for me personally, I’d rather keep things looking clean.
Nice fashion sense ❤
Thank you!
I've gone collar out for 50 years. Either way is really fine as long as you are wearing the right collar. If it is a small or soft collar it needs to stay in so it doesn't flop in the wind.
Sometimes I'm accused of style overr fashion trend, and not everyone thinks I have a great style sense! :)
Good point about getting thicker and warmer as you go out. Same thing for backpacking. It makes it way easier to manage temp. So it is functional and stylish.
I use that Google images tip all the time mostly as you described.. to see certain color combos matched together and how they are styled.
It’s a great way to get some fresh ideas!
Another sharp look is to wear a turtleneck under a V-neck sweater. What can set it off is white or grey t-neck with a dark colored sweater. I personally have some Henely sweaters which I know will go well. Top it off with a sports coat.
I find cut away shirt collar sits quite well even outside a crewneck sweater. Thanks again for your video.
You’re welcome!
Great video John, 6:02 these colour combo ideas will always be appreciated by me❤
Perfect!
One important factor when layering with a T-Shirt or any shirt is the collar. My pet peeve with T-Shirts is when the collar is stretched or sloppy. In fact this may sound more like a rant…”I hate cheap, loose collars that are not neat and snug around the neck” (I know this is not life or death.) I’m very picky about the collar. Just had to mention that….Thanks always great advice on dressing well….👍
Absolutely agree!
You made impact today with this video! After I watched it I changed before I gave an over Zoom presentation.
Awesome!
Great video. This is one of my weaker aspects of dressing. It is getting close to the season where I will need to layer and this content has given me some much needed direction with it.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Hi John
Always Enjoy Your Style Videos .
Thanks For Your Layering Tip’s !
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Do you ever shop vintage stores? I’ve found some great accent pieces with fantastic fabrics one doesn’t see anymore. A little tailoring to get the fit right, and I have some really unique pieces no one else has.
Best way to make all your layers look their best -
Make the body underneath fit and toned
Don’t thank me 😉😏
Pls make a video for who lives in hot places tks
Thank you John.
You’re welcome Ron!
Great video and tips John!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video John, nice color convinations
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Layering... a staple in here in Boston because this time of year we get all 4 seasons in 8 hours Ha #legend
Ha! Absolutely!
Lol yep I'm about 20 min north of Boston and know the feeling
I'm glad You're doing well. Regards!
Thanks, you too!
Good stuff John, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your videos. Always great tips.
Thanks for the tips, just subscribed. This is the best time of year for the layering look.
Welcome!! Thank you Robert!
where do you shop for cloths, not JC Penny or Khols, not sponsored but department stores , what brands should i look for.
thanks john!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching brother!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hi John, whats ur take about the Seiko 5 watch.
Can you do a vid on brown tennie shoes with outfit
Bravo...
Danke....
Cool and very useful vid.
Lighter weight fabrics. For layering.
John…what grey jeans are those that you’re wearing with the tan suede boots & the blue window pane sport jacket? I’m looking for a pair just like that.
you just found a new subscriber, just went over 40mrecently. But I still like my cozy joggers from casual to going to office. Do you still recommend it? I search all your videos titles if you have one, but I cannot find?
Great video! BTW where did you get your powder blue blazer?
It’s from Daniel George
Code did not work for me. Are Canadians included in this offer? Great video as usual.
Love the taper on your pants. Whats the size of the opening ?
Thank you! Everything is going to vary, but a typical pair of jeans is roughly 6 1/2 inches at the opening.
@@40OverFashion thank you !
I love your tips and tricks. But I was wondering if you ever did a video about "edgier" looks...say you manage a rock band or an art studio....What if you were going to a rock concert or something? I find those looks for an older guy can be fraught with danger....and one does not feel comfortable to be at such an event looking like a financier out in Greenwich on his day off... Thanks!
Appreciate the suggestion! Good one!
Over the years, I've flip flopped on the wearing the shirt collar outside the sweater or inside. Now, it's just a judgment call I make in the moment that depends on the shirt collar, how it lays, blah blah blah :)
Tried the promo code but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe it won't work because I'm in Canada?
Does the promo not work for Canadians? 😢
No. Go eat poutine
0:30 😂😂😂
In this part of the world uk you would never remove the top layer.
Haha!
You would also keep your hat scarf and gloves on
What if you're too hot?
Bangers, mash, raincoats!
Their polos have one button too many to be worn on their own. If they had one button less, they'd be perfect.
Great video!
I see your shorts have huge potential for improvement! This hurts the potential for viral videos and I am willing to create some for just a testimonial. (Only if you do like the shorts) ;D
Just reply and I will go straight to work!
Sorry dude...most zip up tops of any type (with the exception of jackets) do not look good. That zipper is to distracting and it makes you look old.
Wait, a ‘zipper’ makes you look old? Never heard that one before.
Nope, I specifically said zip up tops as the one you are wearing and modeling. Its not streamlined. Why not just opt for a cardigan or a v-neck?You'd look much better with my suggestions.
You look like a Team Lead for an IT department.
Do you really call this a polo shirt. This is not a polo shirt! It's a short sleeve shirt. I am sorry, but I don't like it. It's okay to wear a polo shirt, but never wear a short sleeve shirt (unless it's an Hawaai shirt). If you wear a shirt, wear a correct shirt with long sleeves.🙂
Yes, that is the exact definition of a polo shirt.
It's very much a polo shirt. The difference between a polo shirt and a shirt are the buttons and whether the go all the way down or not. Just because it doesn't have a sports collar, it doesn't mean it's not a polo shirt. And I disagree, I think a polo shirt with a stand up collar works very well.
@@matthewm674 - Not in Europe! Maybe this is American style.
@@dirkpahlsmeier9075 I'm in Europe. These are definitely polo shirts. A short-sleeved shirt is buttoned all the way down, polo shirts like these are not.
I understand they are your sponsor, but I hate Collars & Co calling these Frankenstein shirts a polo shirt. They may be some other kind of shirt but they are not a polo. It is a short sleeve dress shirt that is missing some buttons. If I want that type of collar I will just wear a dress shirt. This is my least liked video I have seen you do. I won’t even go to Collars & CO’s website. Not interested.
