The Disco period left many in the wreckage of that beautiful and lethal decade of the 70's. Many artist of that era were never heard of again in a real way. Looking back, perhaps it was never meant to last. Donna Summer did managed to hold on. The music she created was part of the temple that I and others worshiped. And we who are still around to talk about, it will never keep our distance and forget her! Indeed she should have the entire world at her feet! Her voice is eternal.
robert rutkowski Really? According to the lots of UA-cam videos I've seen of her, she was LOVED by almost everyone. I really haven't found negative comments about her. That is hard for celebrities. Lol They usually get a lot of love and a lot of hate combined. Lol
This was from her 1983 Tour. She included this in her 1981,83, 93, 94, and 95 tours. In 1998 she sang this as part of her Gay Mens Health Crisis benefit concert at Carnegie Hall and brought the house down.
If somebody deserves a tribute show than its this woman. I hope that they will honour her properly like they did Whitney, as for me Donna was the Queen of them all and reigned forever, she just kept getting more powerful my the minute, her vocal range surpasses any I ever heard. If not in live, its high time to honour this remarkable Superstar.
MrMjhealtheworld I totally agree with you. She was far superior to Whitney Houston, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, etc. I have nothing against them, but Donna deserves more recognition than them.
..and we do miss her. I wish she had made more recording efforts but people should give her credit for being married to the same person all those years and raising three beautiful daughters. At least she wasn't on the tabloid covers every week like a Kardashian or have a God awful reality show.
This is modern classics. I never heard this before. The energy, the heroic style, very propper for this song, even the voice of Donna can be compared with those of great Edit Piaf. Simply outstanding performance.
Donna is TRULY amazing, and her voice is of no equal! But I would have to say my favorite version of this classic is by Olivia: Olivia Newton John - Don't Cry For Me Argentina
I've noticed Donna's doing an imitation of Patti LuPone here, except she can hold the notes a lot longer, and her voice is far more rich and beautiful.
We love this song and today we decided to listen to various performers do their rendition. Although each one of us has their favorite, this is the first time we heard Donna Summer sing it. What a nice surprise! We think the most important thing to a great performance, in addition to talent, is sincerity. This song is about love, staying connected with the people that matter to you, and Donna clearly reached out to her fans ("Argentina") and told them how much so loved them. Well done!
Donna Summer is extraordinary and I could listen to her sing all day!! When you hear her voice it touches you in your heart and soul because it's the place from which she sings.
I remember Donna in the 70's. She was great then, and she really had a real diverse talent. She was much more versatile than most singers. I hope she gets the credit she deserves, as they did for Houston, who was not as versatile as Donna.
She won't, unfortunately. Whitney definitely wasn't as versatile as Donna, but she was seemingly more popular and sold more records. The "world" has dubbed her The Voice, but that's what I call Donna Summer.
This is wonderful, I have never heard Donna Summer do this song before, it SHOULD have become a hit. Many thanx to StampYourFeet for posting this. I am curious as to when and where she did this as well. An amazing woman, no doubt. I was totally upset when I heard of her passing this past year (2012). She is one of my all time favorite singers and I never got a chance to see her or meet her, (even though I came close to doing so on 3 separate occasions). R.I.P Donna...I miss you dearly.

This is the best rendition of this song others have tried and well can’t touch her version this is definitely my favorite and she is my favorite vocalist of all time she effortlessly hits notes her voice is more than just one range although she is know for disco/funk/dance songs she is capable of doing opera style of singing as showcased on here and I will go with you and many other songs show her true vocal abilities, Donna, pattie Labelle Aretha, Chaka were the Whitney, Mariah Toni and Beyoncé of the 60’s/70’s
A talent given to someone by God should last forever - it that talent is taken care of and nurtured. Donna still has a voice and will for more years to come. She and Girogio Moroder did literally change the course of music history. Donna had major successes after "disco," the biggest probaby being Hard for the Money... she has also earned Grammy awards in the Rock-N-Roll category and gospel. She is a unique and lovely talent.
This lady was an AMERICAN TREASURE.Could sing anything and great. One of the best voices of music. Miss Donna Summer so so much. One of the greatest ladies of American Music . I really hate the pop,rap music of today.
Oh, you dont' have to apologize. Stereotypes of Americans annoys me because I don't want to be lumped into the "stupid category" with a George W. No country is perfect through, but we do try (I hope). and every group has its spoilers. You probably know who Laura Fabian is and she touches me even if she sings in French or Italian. THAT is a gift, its power, its noting short of magic. I like you, by the way - and thanks!
I am not confused by language nor the style of her day. I listen to music in many different languages and styles. My current favorites are in Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German, Hebrew and Arabic. I also like classical music, bagpipe music, choirs, and gospel. I have no misconceptions due to language nor style. YOU have the misconception that ALL Americans are the same and adhere 100% to your narrow views and prejudices. Edith was great - you are arguing with yourself.
You mean the musical arrangements of this particular song or the style of music in general that she is famous for? That concert tour was done, I believe, without an orchestra - just her band, so that may be what you mean as it has more of a rock mood to it instead of a musical theatre sound because the instruments were from a band - electric guitars and a synth.
@SWSimpson Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you and don't think that "all Americans are the same", though I do believe that many Americans are self-centered and have little interest in the rest of the World. But it looks like you have very little in common with that type of Americans. I do wish you the very best in your musical and other endevours. I really respect you.
That is an unfortunate conception of Edith Piaf in the U.S. She was great in her era and will remain a great figure in the history of vocal performance. The question who has more powerful voice and who can or cannot sing anything is irrelevant. It also depends on our knowledge and our perception of a singer..
Nicholas -- You're absolutely right. She should do a Broadway show. she and Tom Jones never . . . make that seldom . . . produced material worthy of their voices. she has the looks, the voice. Why be coy with such a gift?
EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A VERY BEAUTIFUL VOICE ..YOU RAISED A DAUGHTER TO CARRY ON YOUR WONDERFUL VOICE IN THE MOST BEATIFUL VOICE OF ALL ..YOUR LITTLE GIRL AMANDA GRACE ..WATCH..... LAST THING I NEEDED
Quiere decir muy bien, bring down the house quiere decir que la audiencia fui muy, muy entusiasmado (si es un palabra espanol) y lo mostraba. The audience felt great enthusiasm and showed it. Puede ver por que.
I lived my life with my Fred Grasslands between Argentina and ... And I've never seen at any time with a young interior light this .. Not as emphatically as yourself. Although I try to avoid going on this or that singer's version of this or that song and saying someone else does it better. If I didn't like Donna so much myself I likely would not have done it. And anyway it's not much of a controversy.
i love you so much and never is there ever room for you anywhere else than in the pages of timelessness. Thank our god she had the good sense to create you.

The best rendition of the song "Don't Cry for me Argentina". What a voice! Wow! I miss you my Donna
My goodness!! where was this?? When? In any event, she's timeless and incomparable...She left her mark...Just love her

Don't know if Argentina's crying for Donna tonight, but I certainly am.
..and we do miss her. I wish she had made more recording efforts but people should give her credit for being married to the same person all those years and raising three beautiful daughters. At least she wasn't on the tabloid covers every week like a Kardashian or have a God awful reality show.
The Version by Donna Summer is just brillant!
Other than the strange introduction this must be the best version ever of this epic song. Good on ya Donna
Safetyguru11
Nice rendition of the song. I like it better than Sarah Brightman's version, though I like Karen Carpenter's rendition, too.
This is modern classics. I never heard this before. The energy, the heroic style, very propper for this song, even the voice of Donna can be compared with those of great Edit Piaf. Simply outstanding performance.
live song love her a pity i was to young to meet her. i realize i listen every time at all her songs. and realize i am a fan...!
Donna is TRULY amazing, and her voice is of no equal! But I would have to say my favorite version of this classic is by Olivia: Olivia Newton John - Don't Cry For Me Argentina
one word........AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donna has a voice that was meant for Broadway!
DONNA SUMMER Y WHITNEY HOUSTON .......LAS DOS VOCES MAS HERMOSAS Y PERFECTAS DEL POP DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS.....
She worked it!
No gimmicks, just pure talent! She will be missed!
Donna Summer does an excellent rendition of this classic!
that is truly a big voice.
I've noticed Donna's doing an imitation of Patti LuPone here, except she can hold the notes a lot longer, and her voice is far more rich and beautiful.
I like this version most ,she made me impress& comfortable.

she captures the emotion of Evita. I feel sad that she is no longer with us on earth...but i bet the angels are ecstatic.
satori cmaylo Yes me too.
Rich voice. Girl needs material worthy of her instrument, such as this.
Never knew she did this. Beautiful!
She is a true queen. What a voice !

This lady sounds classically trained, she put a huge dent in the music scene,a mega star of her time.RIP
Beautiful!

superwoman whit greatest female voice ever rip Donna

From Brazil]
Porém, nada, nada me deslumbrava
E a resposta estava bem aqui, o tempo todo
Eu te amo e tenho esperança que vocês me amem
[Refrain]
Não chores por mim, Argentina
Pois a verdade é que nunca te deixei
Mesmo pelos meus dias conturbados
Pela minha existência louca, mantive a promessa
Por isso não se afaste de mim
Falei demais aqui? Mas não há mais nada
Que eu possa pensar em...dizer a vocês
Porém tudo que vocês tem a fazer é olhar para mim
E perceber que...tudo que eu falo aqui....é verdade !!!
Donna has a much more powerful voice than Edith Piaf.... Edith Piaf was great for her era and style, but Donna can sing just about anything.
Donna Summers was priceless wasn't she you could not put a price tag on that voice and that personality that was sent from God itself
we miss you;DONNA.
She was Beautiful ..still crying 2019
Victorious, beautiful, woman of many colors. Catharsis for all.
This is the best rendition of this song others have tried and well can’t touch her version this is definitely my favorite and she is my favorite vocalist of all time she effortlessly hits notes her voice is more than just one range although she is know for disco/funk/dance songs she is capable of doing opera style of singing as showcased on here and I will go with you and many other songs show her true vocal abilities, Donna, pattie Labelle
Aretha, Chaka were the Whitney, Mariah Toni and Beyoncé of the 60’s/70’s
Madonna and Karen Carpenter are magnificant as well...such a beautiful, sad song..
Amazing voice. Incredible.
Other than the strange introduction this must be the best version ever of this epic song. Good on ya Donna
Such a powerhouse singer!
Donna Summer and Karen Carpenter are my favorite singing this song.
Love them all...but Madonna is my favorite...
Soulified. I move Donna Summer quickly behind Elaine Paige for the greatest renditions of this classic. That was worthy.
