- A shadow that hangs over the debate on the Irish border and Brexit is the implied threat of renewed violence if anything happens to make the invisible border more obvious.
The Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland has told Newsnight that he wouldn't want anything that looks like physical infrastructure at the border.
He fears it could be targeted by violent dissident republican groups - groups whose threat he defines as "severe".
The veteran documentary-maker and Northern Ireland observer Peter Taylor has this special report for Newsnight on the 'new' dissidents.

This is terribly done, do they know that we have Irish republicans in the other 26 counties. I dont support violence but I support my country getting its freedom. Once again he does not show the incompetence and lack of care by the UK government over brexit. Northern Ireland voted to remain in the EU and both Nationalist and Unionists both agree on no borders of any kind. Brexit breaks the good friday agreement and Ireland should be allowed to democratically vote on a reunification of Ireland and the North will get what it voted for to stay in the EU and the Nationalist will get the country back from British occupation. I cant see how any other deal with any sort of border would not lead to violence as it breaks the good friday agreement so many around the country would feel once again betrayed and shat on by the UK

Since both Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to remain in the E.U, one possibility could be for them to enter/stay in the British Commonwealth as independent countries (or as a Northern Ireland / Scotland union) and simultaneously remain in the E.U. This way, they would still be British subjects in the way that former British colonies like Canada and Australia are and remain in the European Union. This way, England and Wales could leave the E.U.
In this scenario, there would be no borders between Ireland and Northern Ireland because of their E.U membership, and the customs hassles between Northern Ireland and England / Wales would be minimum because of its membership in the commonwealth. The Northern Irish could easily apply for jobs in both the E.U and in Commonwealth countries.

The EU needs to protect its borders so now that UK is resigning from EU there need to be a physical border between Northern Ireland and Ireland or they need to unite. I’m pretty sure that it’s illegal to be a member of the New IRA so if the leadership of Saoradh and New IRA are the same then shouldn’t the PSNI arrest them?
