It was. It’s a parody of Time Warner letting companies influence shows when it doesn’t fit. The whole time Shake is pandering to “the urban youth” a demographic he’s not in and knows nothing about. It also shows how racist that type of advertising becomes. Shakes “you should like this cuz you’re black” makes it clear. His only knowledge of black youths is Jay-Z then Sanford and Son. The most mainstream rapper and a show that has been of the air for 20 years before this episode aired.
I love fourth wall breaks and it’s just until now that boost mobile and axe body spray was an ad. When I was young I seen those but I was like “ahhh they’re probably making fun of them” and they were but also it hit me that it was a two ad episode. Call me stupid but man the fact that it hit me now makes this episode a lot more awesome and funnier. Also that one cell phone that spawned before beating shake at 4:03 was like “Aye Dawg Where You At?😡” I say that when my home boys pick up the phone
