    Man, my grandmother used to say it’s more than one way to skin a cat and you proved it! Somebody’s cats may not understand the grind talking about the little rich kids with all the tools, and wants to do everything by the book, but a great mechanic knows how to work with the book and without! I salute you, My Brother 🫡

    I am looking in doing kinda the same to my 51 Buick Special. I will hook up an overkill (electric) hoist to multiple beams on the ceiling. I am not worried about the setup but more of the body if it will stay in pne piece and not warp. Mine will be hanging like that for awhile since I got two other cars in the garage and one is on lift so I can park frame on the floor underneath the lift.

      As long as the walls are sturdy, provided the bolts are rated to hold such weight, I doubt it would be a problem. He actually gave me an idea. 😎👍🏿

      @@dtuck0509 Clean the frame, then build from there. I'm in your position as of right now lol! I bought damn near everything new. Look into PTFE conductive hoses, those are what I plan to use. Dang, watching this video, I was concerned about the rafter holding up to the weight of the body. I had a '83 hardtop baby blue, I put a '87 nose on it with a rebuilt 3.8 .231. I miss that car so much.

      Thanks. The rafter is reinforced with an A frame. I’ve used the hoist to lift truck beds , engines, the body. It’s definitely sturdy. I had an 85 cutty supreme I wish I woulda kept, same color as my current one.

    Nice job man I just bought my 13-year-old a 77 Impala we're about to pull the body off to do framework to it I ended up buying a harbor freight winch a 5,000 lb one which I know is for pulling but I'm hoping it'll do a thousand pounds lifting mounted it in my ceiling after making a land beam up there we're going to be taking the body off this weekend I'll let you know how it goes I'm hoping it can lift it do you have any idea how much the body weighs

    • @dtuck0509
      @dtuck0509  2 роки тому

      Thanks, I appreciate it. Not sure about the older impala, but I would guess the cutty shell to weight around 400-500 lbs. That impala is a bit bigger, so I would guess 600-700 maybe? I would definitely go overkill on the reinforcement…. Better safe than sorry. Good luck on your project.

    • @dtuck0509
      @dtuck0509  4 роки тому +2

      Steven Chance I used floor jocks and jack stands. I jacked up one end if the car up using blocks of wood so I could slide the 4x4 across the top of the frame, and repeated for the other end.
