- This is a 9-hole course vlog - Well 8 actually as one of the holes didn't film correctly. The footage was lost.
It's a practice round for me before I go play forest of Galtres in York on Weds and Thurs at Dewsbury golf club.

Follow the two huge Monty Python fans ( Hence the name - big nose golf ) as we travel around the UK and film our rounds to show some real golf and some lovely course
Can't see how you are such a high handicap, you hit solid long drives, your chipping is very good and the putting was good as well. Those greens looking horrible though anyone would have difficulty as they didn't look much different than the fairway!
Thanks. I have no distance that’s the issue. Long par 5 and par4s kill me. I practice my chipping and putting a lot. Since filming this I’m now 17hcp
Man you got a great swing,
I feel like if those greens were a bit better you would have made a few of those birdies
The latest video is out from Filey and the greens were much better
Really nice swing Chris… won’t be long until that handicap is in single digits!
Damm sweet iron swing for a 22hcapper...
Really? Wow thanks Phillip
Those greens are brutal. Its like putting on cobblestone. lol
Yeah if you can putt on these you’ll be fine on nice greens in summer 😂
In all fairness, I've seen shag carpeting in old trailer parks that was smoother than those greens. Your swing actually looks good. Nice and smooth. You're just playing in a cow pasture.
😂👍
You made that look simple, and I thought the state of the greens cost you the shots
That sure do. Thanks for watching
Well part of your problem is playing on a course with fairway length greens, sheesh!
Check out some of our other videos we’re working our way round a book that published the top 100 holes in the uk. So better courses and videos to come. Thanks for watching and commenting
Nice video that Chris, keep going with it all. 👍
Thanks
Clean Swing there Chris... 👍👍
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Playing on "proper" courses will see your handicap come tumbling down. Those greens were like a shag pile carpet! 🤣
@Darrenmichael Polman it’s a great little range facility but the owners seem to treat it like a money pot. If they would just look after the 9 hole course they would find more people play it. Shame really
Suffered a bit from dew sweeping Chris. I think you will do better on better greens. Looking forward to the next one.
Agreed. The greens are crap. We video better courses soon and travelling around. I’m carl by the way and Chris is taller and older but more good looking 😂 confusing I know ( carl and Chris ) and both nicknames are bignose 😂
@@bikemadcarl If you both have a big nose you are the Dukes of Wellington!
your iron play has a lovely tempo to be fair
Thanks. Just need to fix the swing path
Enjoyed that, thank you. New subscriber. Could you add the club in each graphic? Great consistency pal 👍 👏
Yeah will do. I’m getting used to filming and editing now so I’ll try add club selection into the graphics. Thanks for subscribing
Great quality production, but please post which club you use with each shot.
Okay. I’ll add that into the editing. Thanks for the feedback
Did they forget to employ green keepers? 😂
😂👍👍
Rough Greens! 7th Hole Was A Gimmy!
👍😉
Any course that gets people out playing golf is great in my book but those greens were not ideal to say the least. Thought you did well considering. What clubs do you currently use? No idea what you hit or your financial status or desire to upgrade but your actual ball striking seems great but distances seem a bit short so wonder if some stronger lofted distance type irons would benefit?
Great points. Wilson d300 irons which are 5 years old. I’m seeing bigger distance now my swing is improving. I’d like to get fitted but waiting for all my lessons to settle in and find a consistent swing pattern. I don’t want to get fitted then change my swing which alters my club fitting
@@bikemadcarl yeah I had the same worries but eventually got to thinking that as I always want to try to improve my golf and with that comes swing or technique changes no matter my handicap that I could easily end up in a position where I am always waiting for that next improvement before I buy new irons then never get to it as I am always changing, tweaking and improving.
I think the good thing these days is there are a lot of great irons you can use from a higher handicap all the way down to upper single digits. The biggest different between super game improvement and players distance for example is head shape, top like and ability to shape the shot vs more forgiveness but even then, there is no reason you couldn’t use a super game improver as a lower handicap.
Given your ball striking I don’t see why you couldn’t go for a more forgiving players distance iron or a game improvement distance iron and keep it for a long while.
But again, it’s your game and your bag so you need to do what feels right for you. As you said, lessons and practise will do more for your score than clubs will.
@@greglynch230 you’re right with the thought that you’re always waiting to improve. I did that with lessons. Silly as it seems I wouldn’t get them until I was better at golf. Which is weird thought process. I will invest in new irons soon. I might do I fitting video ?
Nice swing; could take off a few shots for the poor condition of the greens.
Thanks. In my head I do usually say 1-2 shots missed were down to those bad greens. Have you seen the Filey course blog? Those greens were much better
damn those greens looked HORRENDOUS!
Next course vlog they are much better. Stunning course on the east coast
22 handicap shooting 45 is actually playing under your HC..... if that's one of your worst scores how are you not playing off 18 or less?
It’s a short course. I played dewsbury yesterday which is a tough track and played really well but still couldn’t break 90 I shot 96. When playing longer courses that’s when my hcp shows
Good explanation as I was wondering the same. You seem to hit straight but it was a short flat track and greens looked bad.
@@Crapzzzz see what you think of my latest video on a good course
I enjoyed that, a bit of commentary would be good 👍
Thanks for the feedback we’re a little unsure what people want ie: enjoy the course or commentary. We will listen to the comments and grow
@@bikemadcarl looking forward to the next one
@@craigevison4898 cheers Craig
The greens looked terrible.. you would have rolled in a few more putts if they were mowed and rolled..
Yeah it’s just a pay and play where I practice. I usually in my head allow 1-2 shots due to poor greens
You need cutting..............or playing on a difficult/long course, I play off 22 I would love to play 9 holes and be + 5! Sorry but the course seems very very short!
Yes this course is. See the Filey video. I about 91 through 18 on that course. I can still have days where I shoot 100
@@bikemadcarl yes just noticed @ 0.09 in, lots of par 3's and shortish par 4's, however unlike most 22 handicappers, me included, I didn't see any "duffers" unless you didn't show them🤣🤣🤣
Can’t be a 22 surely way better than that
Unfortunately I am 😂 bigger harder course is where I show my weakness
greens are horrendous
22 handicap my ar$e!
I shot 101 yesterday in a society match at York golf club. So…. Yup 22 sometimes higher 😂
@@bikemadcarl I’m genuinely surprised. In the 9 hole video you look like you be should around 12 - 14. Not a big hitter but nice and straight and putting looked decent also. That said this game can bite you just when you think you’ve got it figured out!
@@paulski107 it’s a really short course and I can get round with 3 wood and short irons. On a big tricky course my lack of distance shows in the scores
Is that fairway your putting on?
It’s a family friendly cheap course where I practice. It’s not great conditions but for £200 a year me and my son can play and practice there as much as possible. On this channel we travel round better Course to showcase them. Filey which is a stunning little link type course is the next video out. The one at towthorpe which you watched are just my practice rounds.
Those so called greens, are no better than bad fairways. Go to a proper course mate, you will find your scores improve no end.
Watch the next video from
Filey. Lovely course. Greens much better
you will never feel you are getting better whilst playing on such a poor golf course like this one.
the greens are awful 😖
Agreed. I don’t do any putting practice on them I go around the corner to better courses for that. I mainly use their driving range I also get lessons there and the fairways are not too bad. But you’re right. My best score was on a top quality course. 👍
Can't hear you...
Oh sorry. We have better mics now.
this course sucks....im a 1 hdcp and id shoot +10 on that crap too
Yeah I just use it for practice with my irons which is where I need to improve for putting I go elsewhere
