GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) is the test to measure kidney function and stage of kidney disease.

If you are having kidney problems and the high creatinine values in your blood are high, then it is highly recommended to take a food good for kidney like a protein free diet. It has been observed that a kidney failure patient consuming high protein has high creatinine levels. When a person consumes a lot of protein like chicken, mutton and fish, what happens is that these kinds of proteins become hard to digest and the body produces lots of acids to metabolize. It is very important for you to understand how to increase GFR as a kidney failure patient because in the cases of Kidney failure, the kidney starts underperforming and these acids cannot be excluded out through urine, resulting in accumulation of acid in the body causing acidosis and which aggravates the kidney failure.

Very useful information for both kidneys. Let me share, GFR values are different for both kidneys separately, dtpa renogram test. If one kidney is poor function still creatinine will show normal, around 1.1 as other kidney is properly functioning.
