I was going to ask what you thought of the Ashdown Roasted Saint. I have the Saint Soap (same, but with a mini-humbucker in the P position), that I've mentioned on Bully's show a couple times. I started with and still favor a P style bass and the Saint Soap just fell in pace with where I was going. It's now my number one player. Your synapsis of Ashdown amps is right on the money and is where my taste favors. My favorite is my CTM30 all tube amp. If you get the chance to try any of their all tube gear do it. I'm sure you probably tried their S0-1200, RB-800 and maybe even the ABM750 EVO V, as those were their big pushes (aside from the Studio 4 and MK3! lol!)

Also - on the topic of chasing toanz; FWIW, a dual pickup bass with uncolored/articulate output (EMGs for me) and decent headroom into a multi-effects/modeler is the answer. I’ve yet to find a sound I can’t get since I bought an HX Stomp a few years back. Moderately annnoying initial learning curve, but worth it. Completely murdered the compulsion to chase toanz via a constantly revolving door of instruments and amps.
