everywhere I looked, everyone said take it to a dealer and spend spend spend $$$$ I'm saving this video for a warmer day and gettin er done myself. thanks for the to the point tutorial!!
Thanks, your the only one with the manual and you showed the connections very well and to tje point. I have to do this on my 650 today, the battery died had to get a new one I guess causing the problem. Do you show how to give oil changes on this prairie 650 and possibly a carb cleaning or rebuild and places to buy parts for them on the enternet.
Absolutely brother, check out my other videos they should be very similar to your prairie that's basically what this is only with brute force plastics and graphics, I have a carb rebuild video I did and a jet kit and exhaust install as well as oil and filter change
Thanks for watching! Make sure all your fluids are topped off and everything is in good shape, and you should be good to go. Do you still have your KEBC installed? I robs power and a lot of people remove it, I have a video on how to do it, subscribe to my channel and check it out. I could not believe how much more take off power I have once I removed it, I can actually wheelie it pretty easily now. Take care.
the black and grey plug are they the KEBC Actuator plug and front 4x4 Actuator plugs? my 02 Praire has a different loom i cant find those two plugs black n grey
Hello i have the same exact model and year but mine seems to not have the black connector, to do the swap from gray to black and black to grey. This unit seems to have catch fire on certain parts i dont know if that helps and i dont know how to reset the check belt light without the black connector
If it has been on fire and wires were damaged, that is a tough one. Electrical issues are the worst when it comes to this kind of stuff. I wish I could help.
Hey there - great video. Thanks for posting. Regarding the belt itself, however, what do you do to inspect it and make sure it is good, or replace if necessary?
Check for cracks and inspect it. You can also measure deflection, but that is more complicated. As long as you are not trying to run 30in silverbacks on stock clutch springs like most morons do, you should not have a problem with the belt. Also, whenever driving slowly or on hills or technical tight trails, run it in low range. That will make belt last longer. I have my same belt since 2012. No issues, and I ride a lot, with mud tires, 26in not 30in.
@@Kennyrooo No problem, if you want to see the tires I put on I have a video on installing them. They are great, aggressive tread, and I spin em on dirt with the power of the Brute, never had issues with the belt.
I rode my 750 Brute Force at a trail ride and it drove fine the entire ride. After the ride I was riding it home and something popped and my bike stop pulling. I pulled over, turned it off, look under/around it to see if I could spot the problem by eye but I didn’t. So I started it back up and it wouldn’t move at all (forward or reverse). I’m looking for opinions on what the problem may be because Im not really a atv expert. Belt? Clutch? I dont know but thanks in advance to any answers shared....
That is most likely your drive belt. I have a video on how to remove the cover on my channel, check it out. They are easy to replace once you get cover off. The video is where I remove the KEBC actuator, which gives you better take off speed and also will make your drive belt last longer. Once you get the cover off, you just slide the belt off and put a new one on. That simple. Even simpler for you, as it sounds like yours is off already. Post back here if you have any questions.
Hello,.I just purchased a 2009 Kawaski Brute Force 650i. The actual model number is KVF650F. I'd like to purchase the service manual for it. Other than buying from a Kawaski dealer, can you advise me on where I can purchase the service manual?
That is great! You got a good 4 wheeler. The service manual I bought was used and I got it on eBay for a good deal, much cheaper than buying new from dealer. Check out my other videos as I have several of this atv that you will find helpful and informative! Ride safe brother!
I had a solid light on. I went through all the steps and it all seemed good. when I reconnect it all back up I still have a solid light. any ideas? I have gone through the steps multiple times.
If you follow the method exactly, it should work fine. It is easy to mess up. Try disconnecting the negative on your battery for a few minutes to let all the electronics reset, and try the method again and be very careful to follow it to the T. Hope this helps.
Buddy, that could be several things. If your KEBC actuator on your belt works, you could swap it with the 4x4 actuator on the front diff as they are the same from my understanding, I have never tried it but that is what I have heard and it makes sense because they are the same. That would be a cheap way to troubleshoot if the actuator is bad, which in most cases it probably is. If your belt light is on your should inspect the belt, replace if needed, and reset the light.
The plug with the 2 yellow on one side and 4 black on the other. Do you know where those 4 black go? My dad called me and said his were hanging out of his, not connected to anything.
Never mind. I'm guessing they are just dead ended in the harness somewhere and they fell out. I just did the reset procedure in this video and it worked! Thanks
Hey I have a 2005 Kawasaki 650 brute force the Atv won’t go faster then 5 mph and the belt light is one and flashing. Any suggestions? First time buyer f
It is in limp mode and needs reset. Follow the steps in this video. Also make sure your belt is in good condition. I have a video where I remove the KEBC actuator that shows how to remove your belt cover you should check it out. Hope this helps you.
hey bro !!!! did you happens to have this problem? my 08 brute when i back up if i give some juicy it starts back fire (like a chocking) What might couse that? Any ideas? thanks
before viewing your video my husband tried to do this. Now the light just blinks and the 4wheeler is backfiring and spits and sputters? Any suggestions?
sounds like it may be in limp mode which can happen if the reset is not done correctly I would disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes then reconnect, then perform the reset as I have done in this video per the manual. I hope this helps, not saying this will fix it but would be the first thing I would do. thanks for watching.
I think you may be talking about the wires that go the engine brake, or KEBC. I have another video on removing the KEBC clutch fork, and I go into detail on everything, I think it may help you out. Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/gWzLsggaQqs/v-deo.html
Thanks K Reese. Got my limp mode reset and I'll check out your other video on the wire that are just dangling from the black connector in the video link you sent me.
I'm sorry, it's the large grey connector and wires that I meant. Yours are grey, mine are black. When I pulled on the connector four wires came out and appeared to be loose inside that wiring harness. Just wondering if they were meant to be that way? Didn't look like they were ever connected to anything. The ends of the wires aren't stripped or anything, just taped inside the harness....maybe done that way for the reset? Just a guess.
What to do if this doesn't work? I opened up my actuator and found intact., but it seems to not land properly when ignition is turned off. Motor continues to cycle for 2 minuted when turned off.
Jose Luis Claure Iriarte I can not confirm they are the same color as this procedure is for a 2005 model. I wouldn't think there would be much of a difference though.
