- Live on German TV - 26th August 1967. This was the second day of colour tramsmissions in Germany. "Gala-Abend der Schallplatte" was a live show from the 25th Funkausstellung IFA in Berlin intended to showcase international artistes and the new technology of colour TV. Yes folks - over 40 years ago!!
I am 93 my wife 91 some years ago we were traveling with friends. We stopped at a diner and one friend put Spanish eyes on the. Jukebox. Though we had never heard of Al Martino or Spanish. Eyes it soon became out favorite tune to dance to. Some time after the man who wrote this song Eddie Snyder moved into the house next to us. For 12 years both Eddie and Spanish Eyes were our favorites. Dancing now is a little harder now but when we hear it played we try to dance again. One of the most beautiful songs ever written . Thank you Eddie!
I adore the images this great recording conjures up in the mind. She must have been truly gorgeous.......
What an amazing history. Holy smokes. Congratulations to both of you, all of you!
Most beautiful song ever
Hermosa canción! 🥰💖🎶🎵

This is real music. I feel sorry for those that don’t appreciate great music. You’ll never see this again
Linda -- My thoughts exactly.
we all feel sorry for you baby
@@tomtonge4237 but you're here listening and commenting which makes you pretty sad, at least own your tastes in music instead of making shitty comments to try to make yourself sound more with it, more like the younger generation which you clearly aren't a part of or you'd realise nobody cares what you like or dislike because it's more important to be yourself. Enjoy or more likely go find some other golden oldie to listen to and comment negatively to prop up your own ego.
@@poppaleggansquat3640 Well said.

I'm old dude and no one beat oldies !! No 1, ❤ you all wher ever you are , god bless 🙏
My Dad used to sing this to me when I was little,. He passed in 2021. I miss him❤
My Dad also died in 2021 - we had Al Martino's Spanish Eyes growing up too (on 8-track if I remember correctly).

Here in 2024! Fell in ❤ with this song, in the 60's. Love Al Martino's version, too. Bought a 45 rpm of it! Now I'm almost, 78 y/o...lol. Still loving it...as always.
Timeless beautifully performed music. Power in voice.
My grandfather is getting old, and this is his favorite song. I am determined to learn it on the guitar and play it for him over the phone. 🥰
DON;T WAIT TOO
My father & mother in law had this at their funerals , they loved it . 💓

Hello from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪. My father is 86 he sings this song every single Sunday since 1981. He plays his oldies and it’s going to be played till the day I die.
Mm ake a search for this song "spanish eyes" with Tom Walle , from Norway 🇸🇯😀
Wow, the 50's and 60's songs are not what I imagined, truly something beautiful. I'm 18 and I wish my generation would listen to these and experience what I just heard. Thank You for being the best generation.
David Duran, maybe you could be the one to start that process.
I agree with you. Just one little comment: It's '50s and '60s music, NOT the way you wrote it. Apostrophes are NEVER used in plurals (except when pluralising certain units used in the sciences what would otherwise be confused with other units, for example, m for meters when pluralised would become ms, but ms is already taken and it means milliseconds, so to avoid confusion and apostrophe is inserted, thus making the plural for meters m's). The apostrophe is used only in two situations, normally: to signal that something has been omitted (as in '50s, where it replaces the missing 19), and to imply ownership (as in: my brother's car is blue).

My mom's favorite song, I miss her so much. 😓
Mine too😢
God bless you ❤
Al Martino has always been a long time ⌛⏲️favorite singer of mine for as long as I can remember. I sure really truly honestly do love anyone else who can sing songs 🎵exceptionally well . I give a thumbs 👍up to anyone else who can do what I spoke of.
I am sorry for all who are not on the old side they don’t know good voices and good music. I am 94 and have been blessed to listen to wonderful music and voices that sang not screamed for years. Thank Goodness for technology that I can still listen to good music not what they call music today. I must say Andrew Lloyd Weber has also given us nice music plus a few others so thanks to those.
Never heard a better version. Effortless poetry, bravo.
Try Englebert Humperdinck
1967 when I got married, Al Martino was one of our Favourite
A remarkable singer who didn't get the recognition he deserved. A true singer of ballads.
I totally agree with you Doc! He had class using his powerful voice to show it.
Best. To Shure
Here I go. Crying again
He had a lot of competition.
I mean, there were 4 or 5 Italians ahead of him
-Sinatra, Dino, Bennett, Como.
Not to mention a slew of non-Paisans.
Tons of talent in the 40s, 50s, and 60s.
@@wheelinthesky300
I would not place Martino anywhere but AHEAD of the
Italian heritage vocalists you mentioned, especially Sinatra, who was a much better actor than singer. You left out his greatest rivals, Jerry Vale and
Vic Damone! I rank them as equals. And last but not least, Mario Lanza!...who was actually an opera
singer who also sang
pop songs. He wasn't
a crooner like the others, but his powerful tenor voice was second to none.
He had no greater rival than Franco Bonisolli. Google his aria from Rigoletto by
Giuseppe Verdi on the you tube.
Peace to an obvious
fellow connoisseur of
great music.
My mum loved this song so much, i hope God plays it in heaven. Al Martino was pure raw talent.
My mam loved Al! This song always reminds me of her! New years eve party's Al Martino, Dean Martin,Jim Reeves etc!! Belta times RIP Mama you were a beautiful lady ❤️❤️😘🎇
My memories the same ❤️✌️
when you are 80 and can still hear this music it is magic
Vous avez raison. C'est magique.
Absolutely great Ears @ "80"!
I'm 54 and got the love for this music from my folks...
I have loved music like this since I was a teenager brought up on it.
A legend !! Precious beautiful memories !! There will never, ever be singers and entertainers like this again!! NEVER EVER!!!❤ 🙏
My husband sang this to me on our wedding day ❤️
Live pure class voice. This will never go out of fashion. When Men used to woe their ladies & treated them like no one else was in the room. Thank You Al Martino.
Over a half century has passed since this was recorded, and yet it sounds as magnificent today as then. Al Martino had a masterful voice and his rendition of this song is unparalleled.
Well said.
That's because it is !
Awesome music...enjoy it
👍
Try german version sung by Ivo Robic - Rot ist der Wein. Much better voice
Great Song! My dad was a professional musician who played for Al Martino and it was a pleasure as a young man to accompany my father during rehearsals and live concerts. It was and will always be memorable.
How nice!!!
What a voice p
Interesting- what was Al like face to face?
Wow, what an incredible experience that sounds like, very very special !
My Dad loved this song to dance too. Such a smooth dancer. Miss you Dad!
Ein zeitloser Klassiker, den unsere Nachkommen auch in 100 Jahren noch singen werden - aber nie wieder so klassisch wie Al Martino❤️Thanks Al !❤️

Das wird es nie mehr geben!!
My Dear Dad's Favourite it will always turn back the years for me of my early childhood and my dear Dad
Cherished Memorable Memories ✨ 💖
A great many artists have covered this song, but this version will always be my favourite.
Nobody can sing it quite like Al Martino.
Yes it's Al Martino's song, others can only borrow it.
Wow. Played this at my father's funeral who was also from Romney Marsh, St Nicholas Road for 40 years, me lived there for 25 years, lovely place
Awesome...... Agreed!!! xx
Elvis covered this the closest in my opinion
Amazing he's got a full orchestra with a conductor backing him up and the main focus is on him and his talent, not a bunch of acrobats jumping around him with all kinds of light shows going on in the background. A singer's talent was the main focus of a performance in these days, not all the electronic gimmickry we see today.
This was played at my mother's funeral. She loved it.as I do.
I’m 23 and how many people my age can say they’ve listened to Al Martino on a record player. ❤️ now that’s classic
Al Martino had a beautiful voice.
While in the Navy we spent some time in Naples and several other beautiful cities and in 1967 everywhere we visited they were playing this song.
It brings back some beautiful memories..
Love this music…
Papa played this song for mama each Sunday. Mama was from Spain. I keep the sweet memories. I play teh song each Sunday as a tribute to my parents.

immer noch ein Superhit und nicht zu übertreffen, Erinnerungen, war noch so jung, aber es war und bleibt einfach ein wunderschönes Lied, danke Al Martino!💓👏🌹🍀
He Was such an entertainer.
Wonderful to see how audiences made an effort and dressed up for the occasion.
Those were the good old days when people dressed on sundays more formally. Now they go even in a theater in blue jeans.Somehow a loss. AS KIDS WE DIDN'T REALLY LIKE IT BECAUSE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO SPARE OUR GOOD CLOATHES FROM GETTING DIRTY.
Just absolutely fantastic.
Top, top notch 👍👍👍
This was my Grandfather and Grandmothers song, If they were ever at a restaurant or something of that sort...they would get up and dance in front of everyone. My grandfather passed when I was 9, I never forgot the fact they danced when they heard it. Fast forward 23 years. My wedding day....I had a special surprise dance for my grandmother... it was this song, not a dry eye in the house. at the time she could barely walk but we danced. Turned out to be the last time she danced to this song. she passed 2 years later. its hard to hear this song but I love it. I'll always think of them when I hear this and I imagine them dancing in heaven.
This IS music!! Watching from MALTA, EUROPE. THANK YOU XX
My dad sang this song so much . He was so lovely bless him
Still love this in 2024, as I did then. Now 77 y/o. A big favorite of mine. ❤
