The irish people were so proud of him, first catholic president of the United States. They loved him, I noticed on his vist to Ireland, he would just walk
up to the people, crowds of them and just shake hands . What a shame months later in Texas, he was shot. So sad!

My family saw President and Mrs Kennedy in June 1961, when they visited London. I vividly remember the excitement of the crowds when the motorcade drove by. My parents said they were never prouder than on that day to be American.

Kennedy did, as someone in the film commented, stand out among the Irish politicians, as looking so much younger. He looked twenty years younger. His youth, his handsomeness, his wit and intellect, his status as U.S. president, everybody loved him and the feeling was mutual. He was the biggest celebrity to visit Ireland and in 1963 the population of Ireland was only about three million (today it's closer to five million). In the half dozen cities Kennedy visited, with overflowing throngs of well-wishers, it's possible a third to half of the entire Rep.of Ireland saw Kennedy, at least from a distance if not at street level, as he drove past waving from his car.

I read somewhere that 80% of Ireland came out to 'see' him somewhere on his trip. No way to know. Pretty special. Now, it seems such visits to other countries are a pain the fanny. That could be due to 22 Nov, but somehow things are sadly not the same. Ike was highly respected in western Europe, but the fuss made over JFK was remarkable. Maybe people saw 'hope' in him that in truth may not have been there, but such feelings are perhaps good for all of us for a time.

If Kennedy had lived long through his Presidency he would have been one of the greatest President in the United States. He was very intelligent man with tremendous knowledge of wisdom.
May his soul rest in perfect peace with Almighty God.

What a beautiful video. The music composer was definitely a student of Moriconi once upon a time in the west and beautifully embodies the meaning of the west ❤️❤️🇮🇪🇮🇪🥰

No one looked like him, sounded like him, smiled like him, displayed such wit or intellect. The much admired, brave, charismatic young world leader senselessly murdered by a worthless beast was unique. Forever remembered and missed, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was his name….💕

I was a boy when JFK was President. I was born in 1954. Every time Kennedy was on TV, I wanted to watch it. Even his press conferences his charisma was full display. Sure, I was an impressionable boy, but there was a real charisma about JFK.

Indeed. And such traditions died hard. I remember working men in the 80's complaining that a young fellow's wife had a job at the bank. 'Just taking a job away from a man' they said ... and they meant it I just wish the economics were such that families could legitimately choose to have someone at home when the children come home from school etc. While community programs have some value they are no substitute for parents and parenting. However, these parents have to be able to pay their way and still be fresh to engage with their children. Not easy/possible for most today. If the stock market had not been deregulated and the resulting crashes and downsizing etc maybe families would still have a choice. Dunno, but I wish they did.

I'm not sure, tbh the republicans and democratic party hadn't much between them in terms of policies back then the southern states were democrats back then compared to today the Democrats have went so far left they are unrecognisable

Oh I really doubt that. America gas moved to the right quite a bit since then. I would think that JFK would be seen as on the left side of his party. However, he certainly had remade his party as Trump as well so, hard to say, but I can't agree that JFK would be out with the Tea Party ... ever.

Well, agree or not with it, JFK certainly represented a lot of progressive ideas in his time and was able to convince many others of them as well.
So, it seems natural to me that the person making such a film would have similar notions.
