Can’t say enough great things about this incredibly talented man. He is soooo good. His music is very diverse to have come from one amazing genius. “Good night Saigon” is another song of his that will tear at your heart. If you decide to react to it, bring your box of tissues. You’ll need them. ✌️
AN INNOCENT MAN was a Billy Joel concept album and a tribute to Joel's adolescent years with Billy paying homage to doo-wop and soul music from the late 50's and early 60's. The album gave up at least 6 hit songs including Tell Her About It, Uptown Girl, Keeping The Faith, Leave a Tender Moment Alone and more. On Uptown Girl Joel mimics Frankie Valli of The Four Seasons If you can find Hey Girl please do. Billy's cover of that tune is fantastic.
This is what men are made of. Talent, curiosity, drive, and ability. It's why society exists, it's why we can enjoy this work across the earth completely disconnected.
First time I heard of Billy Joel was his first hit, Piano Man, back in 73 or 74. That first album is fantastic and he continued to make great music over the next 8 albums (roughly). I was watching a video of Billy Joel just the other day, one I hadn't seen before, and even I was surprised at how good he really can be. Piano man is a catchy song but with deep lyrics about people who are basically not living the lives they wish they could live, including the piano man and those who come to the bar to hear piano man.
Not trying to be a dick here but Piano Man was actually Billy's second album. The first was called Cold Spring Harbor from 1971 and probably the two stand out songs are Everybody Loves You Now and She's Got A Way.
Billy Joel is an icon! He is amazing! He is the Piano Man! I love this song and video, is so sentimental and nostalgic! If you like this one, you'll like "Keeping the Faith" it also has a throwback sound and theme! 💖💖
There actually was a Doo-wop resurgence in the eighties, here's some titles you should check out. The Stray Cats - "I won't stand in your way" Huey Lewis and the news - "If this is it" Terence Trent D'Arby - "Who's loving you"
I just became your 300th like with NO dislikes so well done! "Piano Man" with the video is different again and you must see the video featuring Super Model and Billy's future Wife in "Uptown Girl" which is different again..:)
Billy actually did all the vocals himself as well as the background percussive sounds. The only instruments were a bass guitar and a snare drum. EVERYTHING else is his voice.
Lot's of great suggestions for songs to listen to and his catalogue is outstanding. Definitely listen to Innocent Man. It may not be true, but the rumour was that he recorded the song at that time in his career as he thought he may not be able to hit those high notes if he left it any longer.
If you like harmonies, check out some Pentatonix. They are all acapella with AMAZING harmonies. They do all genres. Anything by them will make you a fan. ;)
Please react to "It's all right" by Huey Lewis and the news. It's really really great!!!!!! They also have a song called "But it's alright" make sure you get the right one. Thanks.
In terms of Billy Joel you have to do piano Man I’d say that’s right at the top of your list and perhaps just the way you are only the good die young and you may be right because they’re all great songs and goodnight my angel is a lullaby he wrote for his daughter and it is absolutely gorgeous…And lastly the song “and so it goes” He’s brilliant lyrically and gorgeous melodically and will bring a tear to your eye
Love this song. If you like this, you would probably also like 'It's Alright' by Huey Lewis & The News. Same type of song. Acapella with great harmonies. Check it out.
After watching your reactions to the Carpenters, the Bee Gees, and now Billy Joel, I succumbed to your charms and found myself irresistibly compelled to subscribe to your channel. I love what you're doing here. It's a great thrill to watch young folks like yourself discover the music of my youth (which, of course, was the best music ever.) In this video you mentioned how much you like harmonies and you asked for help choosing videos in your description, sooooooo, I thought I might suggest my current favorite group, Home Free. Don't know if you're familiar with them, but they're an a Capella band and I think you'll love them. May I suggest their cover of a song you're probably familiar with - "Take Me Home, Country Roads" ua-cam.com/video/UwubhhECksM/v-deo.html . It's the best cover I've ever heard of this song. Good luck with your channel and God bless.
So when I introduce my dad to Billy Joel, I had him hear this song….. his reaction was priceless. He went through Billy’s whole catalog and loved every bit of it.🎉🎉🎉
The title track "An Innocent Man" is also an amazing song. The other songs from this album I'd recommend is "This Night" "Tell Her About It" "Uptown Girl" and "Leave a Tender Moment Alone" The whole album is a no skip, but these songs just elevate my soul when I hear them. Billy Joel is one of those artists that created a huge catalogue of amazing songs. "Just the Way You Are" "She's Always a Woman" and "She's Got a Way" are some of the most beautiful serenades to a woman you'll ever hear.
Roy, one of his most underrated songs was "Only Human" from 1985. Had a video for it. His lyrics were always fantastic no matter if it was a movie song like "Easy Money". Billy's songs have 4-5 different sets of lyrics. It's impossible not to like his work.
All voices here were done by Billy Joel. these guys are just actors. Music Videos. started by MTV ca. 1982, are decades long socially accepted farce for profit. Sure they're often fun, but too many listen with their eyes and not their ears, they don't focus on the music. Older films show performers standing still on TV, singing and playing....the focus was on the performance, and dancers in the background were often used but did not necessarily interfere with the performer or force the vocalist to become this superstar dancer, miming to their record to create a video so they could sell their song. Video killed the radio star [an actual song]. Billy Joel was a stellar live performer but was forced to promote his stuff by participating in the required video. Doo Wop is right. impressive you actually KNOW what to call it, so many don't know their music history. you seem to have it together musically.
My favorite Billy Joel song is "Piano Man," which I'd like to see you react to - but please don't stay too long away from the Bee Gees, because there are still 20 or 30 more Bee Gees songs to go before you get to their lesser known songs.
Hey You say you love harmonies. If you haven't already, you should check out Pentatonix Specifically "Hallelujah" as your first. They also cover "Bohemian Raphsody", "Imagine", "Sound of Silence", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and "Amazing Grace" just to name a few. They are an acapella group (no instruments) and amazing harmonies
This was his musical homage to The Doo Wop Sound. This was from his Album An Innocent Man. In the 1950's alot of Male R & B Groups sang A Capella (without Instruments). They practiced in The Bathroom because of The acoustics and sang on Street Corners where the Street Light was their Spotlight. In the 1950's there were so many. The Cadlillacs, Coasters, Crests, Drifters, Flamingos, Penguins, Moonglows, Monotones, and that's just the tip of the Iceburg. Many of them got their start in Church then sang Secular but they would influence the next Generation most notably The Miracles, Temptations, & Four Tops. If you can check them out, they are amaizng.
Billy Joel is a classic. This is a cool song and it's acappella except for the bass. That's the only instrument I can discern, anyway. Perhaps you'd like to try one of the songs below. Home Free - When a Man Loves a Woman ua-cam.com/video/-pygPmfGQvU/v-deo.html Gino Vannelli - I Just Want to Stop ua-cam.com/video/PjfuDSPde_g/v-deo.html And, if you like serious guitar: Stevie Ray Vaughan - So Excited (from Live at the El Mocambo) ua-cam.com/video/n6tU2G_Av7o/v-deo.html
D O R, check out, 'Piano Man' - another Joel classic.....I have to say - without fear nor favour - you are stunning; were I thirty years younger.... Thank you so much for your reaction :)
I love Billy Joel and this is a beautiful love song when seen from a particular angle. But I'm surprised to see so few comments about the political context. The video opens at the end of a political rally , presumably a losing one. Holding on for the longest time is pretty clearly a metaphor for maintaining political power. I mean, there isn't even a love interest in the whole video. Just a bunch of white dudes singing and dancing about the "longest time". Is it just me, or is there some subtext here?
Billy is a deep dive indeed.
You will love it!!!
He will make you smile, make you cry, and you will always be surprised.
Favorite Billy Joel song....scenes from an Italian restaurant.
Same here.
Same. I love The Long Island Version
Billy Joel is my favorite artist. Everything he did is great.
He’s just so good. Actually a musical genius
Can’t say enough great things about this incredibly talented man. He is soooo good. His music is very diverse to have come from one amazing genius. “Good night Saigon” is another song of his that will tear at your heart. If you decide to react to it, bring your box of tissues. You’ll need them. ✌️
The bom bom bom apart, then the ooh wah wha ooh together is great harmony.

Billy actually did all the harmonies himself
Every sound in this song was made by Billy Joel
@@danbarrasso2253 yes he did.
Dude is a musical God.
❤🎶 ❤ You are absolutely correct - What amazing talent and vocal range ❤🎶 ❤
Wow. I didn't know that. I looked it up on wiki to confirm. Amazing.
This is what men are made of. Talent, curiosity, drive, and ability. It's why society exists, it's why we can enjoy this work across the earth completely disconnected.
One of the biggest catalogs ever
According to Billy’s daughter, Alexa Ray, he wrote this song and sang it for her mom, Christie Brinkley, the night he proposed. So sweet.
First time I heard of Billy Joel was his first hit, Piano Man, back in 73 or 74. That first album is fantastic and he continued to make great music over the next 8 albums (roughly).

That smile really brightens up the room!!
Billy Joel is an icon! He is amazing! He is the Piano Man! I love this song and video, is so sentimental and nostalgic! If you like this one, you'll like "Keeping the Faith" it also has a throwback sound and theme! 💖💖
Billy Joel is Rock n Roll Jazz Do Wop Country. Love ballads he did it all.Brillant story teller
Listen to EVERY song Billy Joel has done. You will never be disappointed. He makes me proud to say that I am also from Long Island.
Billy is a musicologist and a real lyricist.
One of his first hits was "Always a Woman"
Nice Doo Wop feel. I always liked this tune! 👍👍😁😁😁😁😁
He loved to write in all styles of music even wrote a symphony
There actually was a Doo-wop resurgence in the eighties, here's some titles you should check out.
The Stray Cats - "I won't stand in your way"
Huey Lewis and the news - "If this is it"
Terence Trent D'Arby - "Who's loving you"
I just became your 300th like with NO dislikes so well done!
"Piano Man" with the video is different again and you must see the video featuring Super Model and Billy's future Wife in "Uptown Girl" which is different again..:)
He wrote this in new love with Christie Brinkley, a super model and mother of his only child, Alexa Rae Joel, now a singer in her own right.
THIS IS TJE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING PAST GENERATIONS, BECAUSE, WE. WERE CONNECTED…
Billy actually did all the vocals himself as well as the background percussive sounds. The only instruments were a bass guitar and a snare drum. EVERYTHING else is his voice.
"Uptown Girl" is another great DooWop by Billy Joel
Only the good die young by Billy Rocks 🎸
Lot's of great suggestions for songs to listen to and his catalogue is outstanding. Definitely listen to Innocent Man. It may not be true, but the rumour was that he recorded the song at that time in his career as he thought he may not be able to hit those high notes if he left it any longer.
Billy did all of the vocals.
Try Gilbert O'Sullivan singing, 'Nothing rhymed' and 'Alone again'

Damn girl, you been doin some good music. Do me a favor, maybe some Stylistics " Make me feel brand new"
Yas! Love that falsetto!
You gotta check out Billy Joel "River of dreams "
Even in concert they do this acapella. All members of the backup group contribute.
The beach boys and boys 2 men couldn't fuck with this back then and still can't.
Just The Way You Are and Piano Man next please🙏❤
Love me some doo wop!
Love this song. If you like this, you would probably also like 'It's Alright' by Huey Lewis & The News. Same type of song. Acapella with great harmonies. Check it out.
You should react to "Uptown Girl" Angela! You would like it

For another totally different sound from him, try River of Dreams.
This is a little different but I think you'd like the song (she's like the wind)
Since you like Bill Joel, you should try "New York State OF Mind" if you haven't already
You have to react to piano man by Billy Joel
After watching your reactions to the Carpenters, the Bee Gees, and now Billy Joel, I succumbed to your charms and found myself irresistibly compelled to subscribe to your channel. This is a Capella - NO musical instruments at all
No need to wonder why he’s sold out Madison Square Garden 150 times🎼🎹🎤
I love this one. It is so easy to sing along with. But you’ve just scratched the surface. Definitely check out Piano Man & Just The Way You Are.
"Just The Way You Are" is a very good one from Billy Joel
If you want to know why the harmonies sound so good, it's because he's singing all the parts and harmonizing with himself.
Billy Joel is actually singing all the vocal parts on this track.
"Keeping The Faith" sums up how Billy was feeling about the music of his past. Terrific vocals and horns.
So when I introduce my dad to Billy Joel, I had him hear this song….. his reaction was priceless. He went through Billy’s whole catalog and loved every bit of it.🎉🎉🎉

Exactly what I was going to tell her!
YES!! Piano Man, great song. MUST watch original TV music video though. It gives it so much more power and shows you Billy's piano strength.
Hey You say you love harmonies. If you haven't already, you should check out Pentatonix Specifically "Hallelujah" as your first. You have to listen to Billy Joel “She’s always a women to me!” A very heart felt song about being really in love with a women….

Cool reaction vid. Word of advice though... Don't put the artist name so big RIGHT in front of the actual video
Speaking of Doo Wop, check out Little Anthony and the Imperials "Two people in the world"
This has become my favorite song from Billy Joel
Notice that it's acapella there's no background music
Billy's music spans all genre's. "We didn't start the fire", "Only the good die young" are 2 very different than you've seen. Fun reaction.
The Billy Joel rabbit hole goes deep.... enjoy the ride young lady!!
Scenes of an Italian Restaurant and River of Dreams are some great songs from Billy Joel.

Hey, thanks for taking me back. This feels good 😃.
I love Billy Joel and this is a beautiful love song when seen from a particular angle. But I'm surprised to see so few comments about the political context. No instruments. Just snaps and voice😊
Nothing like the lost art of Acapella.
You have a beautiful smile!! 😊
Bet you never heard River of Dreams too. I think you just might like it.
Billy Joel is a gifted singer/songwriter. His lyrics are crystal clear
