    Hi Sahini, I am from Pakistan, settled in Canada. My dad was a very abusive man. I worked hard to build a happy and safe life for myself. One thing is because of the way he was I was petrified of cooking because he used to get so mad and angry if he didn't like the food my mom made. I can't say I am able to cook without revisiting past trauma but your videos make me so happy. They have a calmness and softness about them. Thank you for sharing. ❤

      Hey sorry to hear u got so badly abused it has left u with such a trauma, its very sad parents do this not realising what a detrimental impact it has on the child. I hope u recover soon, please seek support and help from the medical staff, u certainly are in the right country and it will benefit u immensely. I, too had to have psychological therapy for other reasons and after resisting for many years, firstly b/c of the shame and embarrassment and 2ndly b/c I didn’t believe it would help but when I finally got treated it helped amazingly and I’m now in a better place psychologically, physically and emotionally.

      My experience with my in-laws tells me that they are mean to me on account of me being from another family, other people’s’ child and not only tied to my gender! I came to this inference on seeing heir attitude towards me and comparing it with other women in their family. My mil herself possesses high credentials ( didn’t want to use the word educated because it has special meanings to me and not just degree), had been a professional all her life, propagates the idea that she is progressive and has modern dressing sense, yet she dislikes me wearing tights, or a dress accentuating my curves, or showing a little bit of cleavage, and this is just one example. However, she is totally fine with other women in her family dressing as they wish, making career choices as they wish!

    • @aceexam5607
      @aceexam5607 7 місяців тому +1

      To add to all that has already been said in this thread. I would also like to say and agree that my mil is unnecessarily mean to me, just because I am from "another" family. Constat fault finding and me trying to please her were the highlights of the first year of my marriage, it even lead to me questioning the very relationship that I valued so much . But now I am learning to set my boundaries. Even if everything else goes wayward because of this approach, atleast I will be content ❤ More power to all the women trying to strike a balance without quarelling, fighting and mud slinging ( not that I am type casting those that do, because their circumstances might as well call for those very actions)❤

    One of the main reasons I'm afraid to get married. I love cooking and taking care of my boyfriend, food rathers acts of service is my love language. But I don't want to be forced to do that, and the more I see most modern marriages where the girl is working her ass of at office and then rushing home to hungry husband and children, picking up after them what not it is more daunting. Also getting the approval of mother in laws is a whole different topic.

    • @smollilbean
      @smollilbean Рік тому +31

      Exactly my thought. I'm 19 and I've never been into a relationship. I crave love and acceptance from a man so much and yet have the tendency to push them away when they try to get closer, and I've said no to people I've had crushes on just because I'm SCARED. Scared of men and their families, and how marriage culture goes on in india.
      I don't ever want to be forced into being servile. I want to love and do things for someone because I love them, not because it's my obligation to do so. Not because I'm a woman and "it's my place" to be in the kitchen or whatever. Do I make sense at all? Probably not.

      @@smollilbeantrue but I will settle with or tell them in advance what I think about the marriage, know how things will go beforehand. And it’s about your man and you moving forward together if it’s just you it will always be just you, a man won’t change for you until he actually wants to. Just do your best from your side and be positive n happy. But if you get disrespected in return I’d say try to console them(him/his fam) it’s hard to leave after your actually married so I’d say before jumping to marriage be in long term relationship. Also MOST relationships fail after they get married because they forget to focus on themselves as they’re a family also keep your mental and physical health fit! Also the love or fire shouldn’t be decreased.

    I looove this vlog. The editing, the choice of music, how you share your feelings, even just the way you speak. I used to be a people please and I think people pleasing in the end is really fear of suffering. Suffering in case someone dislikes me, or if they will start a fight with me or if they will yell at me or push me out of the social circle. But only if you can free yourself of that fear of suffering you can really be free. People will always have their agenda, their ideas about how life and other beings should be but that shouldnt influence how you live your life. Sometimes a fight is needed. As long as you can remain beautiful within yourself or after a fight come back to happiness there is no problem in fighting a fight sometimes. For me it really helped when I started yoga and meditation. Maybe thats something that you could try? - Summer

    • @smollilbean
      @smollilbean Рік тому +1

      So yoga and meditation helps with people pleasing?
      I'm 19 and I've just realised that most of if not all of my friendships from highschool have been based off of people pleasing. If I spoke my mind, and was myself more i would probably not have half these friends. They're not bad people, but I've let them intrude too far inside my boundaries and now I feel resentment, towards myself and towards everyone. I just want to be left alone. It's so draining.

    Sit with your feelings. The more you contain them , the more they become poison.
    Having negative feelings are okay ,sometimes they feel like a hard push that we needed to see the greatness in ourself.
    It's like being pushed to a cliff but you realise you had wings all along , they just never let you see that.
    Slow days are Okay.
    Sad days are okay.
    Lazy days are okay.
    I'm sure if we were happy nonstop we would still probably feel drain out.
    You can try journaling in those times when you feel too down.
    I also need you to know that people who can't take no for an answer, won't ever change.
    It's better to either reschedule or simply say you're too tired for the work. Or that you can't do it alone. The more you hide your identity, your priorities, the more you become a shadow.

      It's true that marriage brings lots of changes in a woman's life but it is also same for a man. For men it brings added responsibility of making his partner's life compatible with his home. Most of them succeed and we don't talk about it. Bcuz if such couples won't have succeeded we wouldn't have had women empowerment in our country in the first place.

    • @luckycharm1212
      @luckycharm1212 7 місяців тому

      @@prem27mndlThis is exactly what women in the comment section are talking about. Instead of empathizing with their situation, men like you bring up how much you suffer. You cannot listen and that's the problem. And what equal change are you talking about as a man? Stop kidding!😂 Either you are young, or immature because of the pampering you received from your mom. Men cannot even meet women half way in relationships. Relationships and marriage benefits men, not women! When women realise this, they won't fall for it.

    Your video reminded me of the days when vlogging was not about sponsorships and products, it was simple back then which was better than social media these days. You video gave hope ki abhi bhi baki hai wo sab🤗 Jab mann kare banana aur aisi videos, no pressure🤞🏼❤

    You are too real Sahini di, which is rare to find in this superficial world. People(most content creators) rarely shows their vulnerability, or have little courage to be their true self. Kudos to you🩵.
    I LOVE your videos. They are really calming. I hope you stay like this🍀

    Love the content and how comforting it is!
    A tiny suggestion for future videos, if you don't mind - maybe you could turn down the BGM a bit and/or maybe bring the mic a bit closer (if you're wearing one, idk) when you're talking
    Your voice is really sweet and the music seems to be drowning it out sometimes. Once again, just a suggestion! Love your content as always❤

    Please keep creating, keep doing things that makes you happy. Being empathetic is good but not at the cost of your mental health. I learned it the hard way. 😢
