  • A quick look at a new CDM spinning reel by Tsurinoya. It costs less that £35 (with free delivery!) but is it it worth it?

I received my FS500 about 2 weeks ago. Right toward the end (around 10:25) I heard the gear noise you were referring to. Mine doesn't make that noise. As a matter of fact, it makes no noise at all (except when pulling drag). Mine is super smooth. Maybe Tsurinoya is getting better, or you received a slightly defective gear, but I am really pleased. I've had it down to the river 3 times and it casts and retrieves like a dream.

Some greate info mate, I have the Tsurinoya Ranger 800, absolutely love that reel, solid, no nonsense. Using it for some UL dropshot and small crank lures. Thanks for the upload

The Ranger is a fantastic reel, super smooth and the clutch is brilliant. Have you tried any of the rods? I have the elf and kendo casting rods and they are brilliant.

@@thegoldenscalesclub Yea, Im using the new Tsurinoya Dexterity II (1-5 Gram) for my baitcaster, but no Tsurinoya for my Ranger spinning reel. Also using the Kuying Teton TCC662L with My Baitcaster Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra for some fun BFS, have changed the Spool bearings on that one ,ceramic bearings, can cast the trout magnet 1 gram lure, but im mostly casting 2,5 - 6 gram lures/jiigs/rigs. BFS and UL fishing is so much fun and challenging. The Kuying rod is a little bit stiffer than the Dexterity, but i think the Dexterity II is abit better for dropshot and small jigs, its moore sensitive I think.

I've used the Tsurinoya Jaguar reels for a full year. I ordered 3 and i have to say there can be quite a bit of difference from reel to reel. For example one of tge 3 i had worked perfectly even after a year of use without servicing... no friction, no sound, no problems whatsoever, i would go as far as to say that it ran just as smoothly, if not smoother, than my shimano stradics.
That being said though the second one of the three actually came in sounding super raspy, geary etc. I serviced it and it worked for the full year but i was always redundant to reach for the rod that that reel was mounted on as it wasn't as smooth as the others.
The third reel was what i would consider to be average for Tsurinoya, it had some geary sound at the beginning but it ran smoothly. After a while the gears (on all three) tend to "run in" making the reel feel nicer after a bit of use than out of the box.
As for your reel if i had to guess i would say that the resistance might be coming from the oscillation gear being undergreased based on the area you showed where the sound came from amd the sound you described.
Hope this was helpful, great video.

Thank you for such a great comment, and I completely agree with everything you say. There is definitely variance within the same models, the tolerances are maybe not so low as with other brands but I’m still yet to buy a TSU reel and not enjoy using it. I have in fact just received a spare part that I have been waiting on for my favourite ever TSU reel and will be posting a review of it soon. I’ve had it for over 3hrs and absolutely love it for everything from microfishing to pike fishing!

I think I am going to purchase Shimano 22 Sahara 500... I have a Nasci 500 & it is a good reel and has a good drag for a 500 series reel, it does have more than usual resistance while reeling ( especially compared to a Diawa) .. looks like 22 Sahara is a step up from the Nasci

How does it compare to the Ranger on the drag clicker sound?

Wouldn't buy a £30 reel myself but if I had to that looked ok.. apart from the bloody great cap on the side. You worried those gears will fail? Will you be taking it out for a few sessions?

The plastic cap on the side is crazy big! The gears feel ok other than being a bit noisy. I’ll definitely be trying it out on the bank for some perch/pike/trout fishing.

Hi, I’m not too sure of US distributors. It’s a great reel and Aliexpress seems ok if you pay through PayPal. Free delivery too.

@@thegoldenscalesclub okay I found one on Amazon and another on aliiexpress. The one on Amazon has an EVA foam handle the one on aliiexpress has the same skeletal handle like on your video. My question is are they both the same or which would be the best to go with? Thank you
