- A quick look over the sprues of this lovely Panther kit from Takom. It has full ibnterior and engine, complete with moulded on Zimmerit.
Although I have shown the stand alone kit box on my title, it is actually from my Fries Kran Lucky pack.
The first panthers received their zimmerit in the field, thats why its a very ruff pattern. It looks good to me. Nearly forgot “lol” great review.
That looks like a great kit, Nigel! Nice look at the contents. Looking forward to seeing this built.
Ooooh.. not sure I'll build it just yet Brett??
@@NigelsModellingBench well, whenever you get around to it, I am sure it will be great, so I will stay tuned so I can catch it when you do!
Another great review Nigel. Think I may have to get one of these. One of those Rye Field Tigers with interior also look really nice.
In regards to the zimmerit pattern. I have an the 1975 Squadron Signal "Panther in action" book. There are 4 excellent colour plates, 3 of which have the square pattern zimmerit. The book cover colour plate also shows it. There are also b & w photos of this pattern in the book.
Working on this kit right now. Handful of fit issues. Alterations and shortcuts are a most with this kit.
Wow,these kits look like they really give dragon a run for their money any day,so detailed & crisp, abit like the Takom 1/16 FT-17 I'm working on at present, that cast texture on the hull & zimmerit, incredible, you'll have to do a video of your man cave and the stuff you've built over the last almost 50 years sometime maybe?,I bet they would be a sight worth showing,no pressure, lol??
OK Malcolm, will do at some point. I have lots of kits started, but not so many finished.... My one big display cabinet is inaccessible at the moment.
Okie dokie, fair enough then, the Soar art 1/35 rail gun will sure be a sight to behold once it's all done though,I've found that build quite fascinating so far anyhow, keep up the great work cheers
@@malcolmbolton1473 As I said when i started it, that Dora will be a verrry long term build. It's not the kind of kit i can pick up and work on 24/7. It'll just slot in in between stuff. TBH, I have too much on my plate right now and need to get something finished!!
Yes,as you did say of course, well worth the wait I guess, you like me have so much on the bench & keep buying stuff, will have to live to well over a hundred to get them all built or finished i expect?,lol
Too many irons in the fire as my mother used to say,lol
My journey into zimmerit began with a Dragon panther A late premium, and some PE zimmerit. The 'generic' pattern(same as Tiger 1 and 2) on the zimmerit was wrong, shouldve been like yours. Its one of the best looking 'square' pattern mouldings ive seen.Zimmerit is so vague and un german in its application and distribution,it will never be nailed down completely. It looks like if you are capable of building a tamiya,or dragon panther kit, this wouldnt be a reach. You could leave dtails that wont be seen (they do a clear hull too)paint inside offwhite, and your left with engine and fans under hatches.Heresy, but easily done.Be a good first interior tank subject.ROCHM Models do the best PE for panthers.Have a look at thier site, after looking ask yourself how much would you pay for thier full complete detail set for a panther?
Thanks It helped me a lot
Like you Nigel,no tank expert. If it looks like a Panther or Tiger that will do. Within reason!I rate the Meng Panther over all others. yet Meng King Tiger is a dog build wise, but cheap now.You mention selling the kit. I have done the same thing recently, with meng and takom.you would think that these new kits would be on a par quality wise but both manufacturers vary so much.I now have a look in the box first, if the meng is in the red plastic back it goes.
Fair enough about lack of knowledge of subject but are you telling me you don’t use references sources when building a kit? Seems counterintuitive to me. How can you build a kit without knowledge of the real thing?
Nigel, I noticed in one of your video's you used a compass circle cutter to make mask, what brand of cutter do you user and does it work well ?
Hi John, The cutter is the yellow and blue one. I got mine from Hobbycraft, here it is on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/ATPWONZ-Compass-Precision-Diameter-10mm-150mm/dp/B0721PWQPN/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1547377556&sr=8-4&keywords=compass+cutter
Did you manage to build this one?
No sorry. Not yet
Does anyone male a panther w zimmerit already in plastic?
Yes, Takom is one I know of because this one has it.
Nice Video lasse dir mal ein Abo da 👍. Ich baue auch den Panther aber die Ausf.G kannst ja mal bei mir vorbei schauen 😉
Bad! NO AZIMUTH CONNECTOR FROM TURRET RING TO CUPOLA!!!
Just as bad as RFM: NO CONNECTORS from TC turret gear traverse to gunners traverse!! There should be TWO connector rods seen clearly through the hatch so it is a big deal.
Warning.
If I see any of these kits above at a show without THE AZIMUTH and or the CONNECTOR rods I will ask to see the owner then smash the kits over their heads.
Never ever ignore the AZIMUTH
I believe the newer rfm panther g kit 5019 fixed slot of the earlier issues
the hydraulics even have hose connectors now if you want to add the lines
so far the 5019 kit has really been spot on
