Who is your favorite member of the White Lotus + Red Lotus?
The only correct answer is iroh
@@emms0003 I had a feeling this would be the first response
Iroh of course and can I get a reply I am early
@@TeamAvatar iroh will be every reply, mark my words
Edit: ok I was wrong it's only been 20 mins you people work fast
Zaheer, as I'm interested in the knowledge he has yet to share.
Monk Gyatso might be a member of the white lotus because when he is switching the tiles when playing with Aang, he switched the white lotus tile. 🤔🤔
He also said that he was the avatars guardian when he was talking to the other monks
O.o
And this is why I love ATLA
@@yashpaulsodhi9040 This, and he was friends with Roku before Aang
@@yashpaulsodhi9040 Because he was assigned by the authorities at the Southern Air Temple to be Aang's adoptive father. At least, that would explain why an Air Nomad council had the authority to separate them.
"All old people know each other *chuckles*"
-King Bumi
I wonder if they also know Hama
You man "The Illustrious Mad-genius King Bumi"
Avatar Roku once said “Do you think i’m weak! I have mastered the elements a thousand times in a thousand lifetimes. i must do it once again. You will teach the Avatar... Firebending!”
@@bluemacaroni2928 - She never rose to any prominence, so I doubt it. She was just one of many water-benders in the southern tribe, eventually captured and never officially heard from again. All known White Lotus members are well-traveled, high class citizens or rulers, right?
The first avatar caused all this cause he was breeding for power him “restoring the balance “ is just fixing the his OWN MISTAKE
Who else was happy to see Piandao as part of the White Lotus?
me
;9 29;
why hello :D also because even though he's a non-bender , he's also very skilled in using swords :D it shows that the white lotus welcomes anyone and you can be as strong as a bender if ure not a bender
@Philip Tucker I mean there no way we would have know that they were apart of it even tho they did hint at it (this irrelevant but jeong jeong my favorite out of the white lotus)
@@tsvkunqru I think it was definitely to have a member of each factor of fighting, almost all four elements (but I think iroh sorta fills that role) and physical discipline
I feel so wise knowing backstories like these, but iroh will forever be wiser.
Lol
Don't forget that iroh is also a grand lotus
Why would I ever forget??
Iroh be dropping knowledge like mako drops women
Agreed
We still need that comic about how Sokka, Zuko, Tonraq and Tenzin clapped Red Lotus and imprisoned them.
It's so cool how Sokka became such a powerful non bender that he was fighting along with the most powerful benders in the world. I guess Piandao was right when he said that Sokka one day would become an even better swordsman than him
They did him so dirty in the LOK.
@@leethebee101 actually the og comment that is reference to what was said about Sokka. Suggests he's given more of a man of mystery type
More so than wronged him(though if you mean not seeing his lineage/knowing why he didn't have one as the problem. Then I'd agree)
@@uzairarshad4231 which is fitting considering Zaheer was also an powerful non bender at the time

What I loved about Roku telling Jeong Jeong to teach Aang firebending was that Roku, a fully-realized Avatar with whatever wisdom the Spirit Realm could provide, was still wrong. It shows the fallibility of the Avatar and highlights that powerful as he is, he is still just human trying to make the best decisions he can based on the information he has.
I think roku knew aang wasn’t ready and wanted to teach him patience
He got a basic training and learned from that incident morally
Additionally, since Aang was afraid to learn firebending, he was able to learn it properly from the dragons with Zuko. Had he simply learned the rage-fueled style of firebending earlier, he may have had other issues.
Roku might not have been wrong. Aang needed a lesson however firebending wasn't the lesson. Aang needed a lesson in discipline and consequences. Aang up to that episode was still way too childish. After this episode Aang still has childish moments but he never has an episode where he behaves childish throughout the episode ever again. The closest I can think of is the Headband episode and that was Aang playing the role to infiltrate the school
The cabbage vendor 100% founded the Red Lotus, change my mind
I think the cabbage merchant joined the White Lotus and prospered, to keep cabbages safe everywhere in the world!
Nobody will care about it, but I used the cabbage guy as an obstacle in a D&D game, and I'm planning on using it as a recurring gag once I start gaming again.
@@remy4379 MY CABBAGES! will always be the best line.....
He opened a restaurant near the factory of Toph selling food items completely based on cabbages

Seeing aang, roku and kiyoshi disappear into thin air was the most painful part of lok
Truly.
And also, I think, one of the biggest mistakes that series made.
It hurt so much
sigh~~~
@@FandomCanon LOK was the biggest mistake the series made
I don't know why it took me so long, but I just realized roku is the one that says "previously on avatar" in every episode
Why did I always think it was Iroh? Roku makes so much more sense.
I always thought it was like.. an older Aang? Or a Younger iroh
Omg yeah
It was aRoku all right
Avatar is still the best show I have ever seen
Anyone who asks why watch the show. Trust me
One of the best for me but Dragon Ball and Naruto are still on top Imo.
Yeah but for me it’s miraculous ladybug and then avatar
Black Clover Hm?
@@zjean3417 kurama died
People are upset that the white lotus came out of hiding but it does make sense. They could only hide for so long. Not to mention, they wanted to prevent something like Ozai from ever happening again
Oh yea 🤔 with no leaders something like Ozai would have never happend.
I never realised that
Yeah they had to stay under cover during the war too because of ozai they would’ve been caught for treason in his eyes
You could be right. But isnt that the reason the white lotus was formed? For occasions where a disaster comes about that even the avatar needs help. The white lotus only came out of hiding to help the avatar clean up. It could've been a thing where they went back into hiding after the disaster and try recruiting new members
Well it’s pretty hard to make a world purely without a leader because if you had to unite a few thousand people every time a decision must be made it would take an eternity to do anything so a country without a leader depending on its size can be possible but not probable.
@@darkmortals1399 that’s not correct, look at LOK, some dude did pretty terrible things and he wasn’t a leader or rule of any nation
We need a spin-off of how Red Lotus came to be
PS: Roku telling Jeong Jeong that he must teach Aang will always be something amazing.
Although quite unreasonable...
Roku should have known that Aang wasn't ready. But why did he insist anyways? It's a question that has been wandering around my brain for quite a while... I thought Roku was supposed to be better than this.
@@Galaxies3000 imo he was projecting(through impatience). His devolped hatred for what the fire nation; his home nation and former friend have brought upon the world. Plus he understood it'd be hard to find a fire master and beat the timeline. Before the war would inevitably end with complete world destruction/deconstruction.
@@Galaxies3000 Same here. Aang wasn't ready at all. He needed to mature first. I believe he insisted on Jeong Jeong teaching Aang because of the incoming comet and invasion.
@@rraymondssilva Me too that is the best explanation
I think that Roku knew that aang would fail. He decided to let aang try to learn firebending so that when he burns Katara he learns a lesson.
Gyatso was definitely a White Lotus member
Sure he was

I definitely agree that he was a member too.
white lotus: has the coolest group of wise people
red lotus: has the coolest villains squad
They're just communists
The White Lotus in ATLA was obviously better than in LOK.
Yeah;zaheer explains that before the war ended, the white lotus was a group who showed up only at times of real disaster or sth and had powerful benders among them such as iroh, jeong jeong, paku, king bumi and etc but then after the war ended they kind of became this group who serve the avatar;tho we don't know when exactly it happened but it must've been like it for quite some time.

It's horrible that we never saw Zaheer and Iroh talking in the spirit world
If they talk then probably Zaheer might be out from the Red Lotus. Iroh wisdom is much more broad and wise.
White lotus in atla:💪💪👴(sea serpant)
White lotus in lok:👶🥺(turtle duck)
which was great for the plot of season 3 of lok
@@eiden5778 I'd say for the whole series. As it showed the consequence of peace is just as great(in a different manner)as the consequence of war.
Only if you compare the inner circle and the Grand Lotus himself (the ones we saw in ATLA) to random sentries (the ones we saw in ALoK).
By revealing themselves to the world, they weakened themselves and their circle became less homogeneous
The grand lotus is the ones who train Korra the minors was her bodyguard
It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale
Iroh was foreshadowing the order of the white lotast back in season 2
Lotus*
Having been watching ATLA recently besides these videos,
I legit questioned if Iroh was real for a second 😂
before the white lotus became basically what zaheer said about just being bodyguards, i feel like tenzin would have joined it
I don't think so,..Tenzin as the only airbending master after his father Avatar Aang and a world leader of Air Nation, he have responsibilities to teaching Korra and next generations of new airbenders to rebuild entire Air Nomads culture after Aang passed, continues Aang's biggest wish since devastation during Hundred Years War annihilate all Air Temples monks... I don't see the point that he joined as part of White Lotus because he already are and he's busy to deal his responsibilities as new airbenders and Korra's teacher

We need more about the red Lotus. How they started and new members to face the next avatar after Korra
I would love a prequel series about them and their attempt to kidnap korra
Next sequel or next avatar? Since TLOK has said the avatar cycle ended on Korra and she lost her connection to the previous Avatars the only make sense thing for the writers is to tell the avatar before Khuruk and after Wan.
@@kantorpos258 she's the start of the new cycle, she doesn't know if the new avatar will be able to speak to her so she wrote down a dvice for them
Zaheer was easily one of the bet villans. Going from ATLAB where there was no more air benders to getting a self taught Air bender master as the antagonist
It's unfortunate that they had to make him kick puppies to make him into a villain.
Ming’hua’s bending style is so unique that I love it
Ahh, Jinpa got mentioned! I always think it's a shame when the Kyoshi novels get forgotten.
Also Kyoshi, and Aang both tried learning the elements in the "wrong" order, and Roku shows he is not against it, which is interesting, maybe it's not as important as is taught.
What are the kyushi novels and where can I find it.
That's because what's important isn't the element order but the philosophical lessons the Avatar learns during his/her training, which is most efficient when learnt in the >Water>Earth>Fire>Air> pattern. Doesn't matter what the starter element is just keep on moving.
I have a short theory that Jeong is the son of Kuzon, whom was going to train with Aang but since he didnt return he made Jeong promise to teach him. Thats why Roku came to back Aang up. Otherwise Aang would have been told to wait longer.
I wonder if the cycle of fire, air, water, earth was created by avatar Wan learning It in that order.
It also must have taken a few avatar cycles for the fact there is such a cycle to be discovered by someone. So the first few Avatars likely learned it In a wrong order
@@71espnat most big book stores probably, also the author is F.C. Yee
Zuko when showing people pi lee: she’s a combustion bender, funny enough I hired someone like her to assasinate the avatar once
Didn't work though.
😒😐
That wasnt zuko though...
I also think Gyatso is member of the White Lotus by representing from the Air Nomads. Because some of the highly monks think that Aang need to master the bending fast, meanwhile Gyatso still treats Aang as his friend and a child at the same time. Maybe Gyatso know what actually best for him.
Yeah and he’s so trustworthy
Tenzin said in one episode when he told Korra about red lotus that him, Sokka, Zuko and Tonraq were there to defeat them when they tried to kidnap Korra, perhaps they were the new white lotus.
no they weeren't the new white lotus but zuko was fire lord sokka of chief of the southern water tribe and tonraq was korra's father and tenzin was the last airbender i think they were there ust to protect korra i think

You’re not wrong there🧐👌
Our universities in a nutshell
Well in some cases society is wrong, but there are some undeniable ideals that are very much wrong and should never be taught
@@Lucy_Luuu But would it be wrong to have at least awareness of these undeniable ideals? If so, that can be considered censorship. Who should determine the morality of a knowledge subject, the individual or society?
@@Demaad No of cause not, I think one should actively be taught different ideals and they should be discussed regarding their morality and why the might or are wrong. Personally there are some ideals that I think are undeniably wrong and dangerous and some that are debatable
The old man that ratted out Haru is definitely part of the Red Lotus.
Katara to Bumi: Let us leave!
Bumi an esteemed white lotus member and a king: Lettuce leaf??! 😬
Omg, I was today years old that I finally found out that the white lotus secretly monitored the avatar’s journey since the beginning. Iroh “found him”. Bumi tested him. JJ trained him... a bit. Pakku trained him too. Piandao saw them getting prepared to fight the fire nation and solidify their mark as white lotus members after they obtained the wisdom of all four nations.
That makes me think if monk gyatso was the one who founded the white lotus to begin with
@@giovanniparaizo6554 idk he created it, but he might have been in the group and informed the rest of the white lotus about the avatar

I think the gaang all were in the white lotus
White lotus in atla: *taking back ba sing se*
White lotus in lok: *cant even hit zaheer*

atla ones were grand masters
lok ones are just the guards.
this help me understand the shows so much better considering i binged both of them within a week and didn't get time to process each episode
It's so great to see a show care so much about their canon and to make all of these great UA-cam videos! Most fandoms don't have this kind of luxury, so whoever pitched this idea, great on you! I am so excited for the expanded Avatar Universe!
Imagine if the red lotus managed too successfully kidnap kid Korra and influence her with red lotus ideologies that would be interesting af
Sure would be!
Im not sure tho... avatar always sense something isnt right.. like she knew that tarrlok hiding something.. it just avatar thing.. she is experienced for ten thousand lifetime.. red lotus just a wannabe peace keeper..
Zaheer would be a Minecraft Villager.
Hmmm?
Korra would destroy everyone by the influence of the Red Lotus
@@fadelsakka4928 She saw there was something wrong in tarrlok. But Zaheer and the other red lotus member had nothing to hide. Their point make some sense, and they truly believe in it.
So way, a red lotus avatar would have been possible. Less fanatical of course, cause the past life have an influence. But you would have an avatar way less status-quo friendly.
I also always felt like the reason why Jeong Jeong couldn’t Aang Firebending Master was because in the end it had to be Zuko. Them forming a bond of Master and Pupil as well as friends brought about things like Republic City. Jeong Jeong would have been a great Master for Aang, but both Aang and the world needed for it to be Zuko to fill that role.
I was always interested in the red lotus

I always found it so interesting that the white lotus was revolved around pai sho but is actually a secret society of grand masters.
Every time I watch the show I pick up something new about them and it's really cool seeing them throughout the show
i love it even after 12 years later. this is the animation show i ever seen after Doreamon, pokemon, shaun the sheep, toy story etc
Love how the White Lotus goes from a Secret Society of Masters throughout the world and by Korra's time, they are basically the Avatar's personal army.
This is basically what happened with the Jedi Order.
The Red Lotus were literally my favorite Villains from Legend of Korra

@@absolutelyabsolute4671 Yes! Viacom even made a whole studio dedicated to the Avatar universe
Tbh, Zanheer wasn’t entirely wrong about (most of) the white lotus being “glorified body guards” because they were really not on par to the red lotus during Korra’s time in terms of bending and in terms of deeper understanding of the nations. (Yes, the red lotus was twisted in their philosophies, but you have to give them credit for being almost as potent the original cast of white lotus members during the 100 year war).
I'd say ming-hua and the lava bender are better than Pakku and Bumi for sure. Lavabending is just incredibly broken if you compare it to regular earth bending. And Pakku never seemed that special to me
I always thought it obvious that all of the leaders of the air nomads while Aang was growing up were, not just Gyatso, it explains a lot of how they were trying to focus on his avatar training all the time and how they knew so much.
The only possible member of the white lotus is Gyatso. The rest knows Aang is the next avatar bc of the avatar cycle and the test they gave every kid. aang choosed the four toys of the avatars before him. That’s why they know aang was the avatar. I don’t think the white lotus informed them. And that time they needed aang to start training early bc of the war. They didn’t care that he was young they needed him to stop a war.
There is no need to say that White Lotus > Red Lotus am i right? 🍵🍵🍵

I love avatar more than any other fandom but the decision to cut connection to Korra’s past lives was heartbreaking.
It also means the upcoming Earth Avatar will only have Korra to speak to.
@@lelandwhitehead56 My best friend and i Theorised the next Avatar would be an earth bender also, but they would be twins who would control each element based on their personality (two each), being dependent on one another and would equale each other out but the ulitmate confict would be between them and their different idealogies.
Imagines Iron never died
@Wes Bradley-Taubner He did as I remembered, but Old Iron turned back and never trusted humans.
Fun fact, there actually was a White Lotus organization in 1700s Qing China, and they were initially protesting a tax but spiraled into a full fledged insurrection, making the Qing army put them down by force. The Imperial soldiers were brutal towards any citizen they found because it was hard to tell who was a white lotus member, so the soldiers became known as Red Lotus for their cruelty.
Who else wants to see Azula join the Red Lotus?
They wouldn't have let her, they knew who she was no doubt
Zaheer said that the White Lotus used to be the ones that held Avatars accountable before, any "bad" Avatar was probably dealt with by them before Aang's time
Who else realizes that this woman's voice is almost EVERYWHERE
6:56 I will watch this part after I finish season 3.
Now I understand why iroh was mad at Zhao when he burned the moon Spirit
wish we learned more about them
Amon the first korra villain I can see him being a Member of the red lotus
i really like the red lotus, all of them where so unique, i literally loved they way they fought and the way each one of them bended so much, that when they died seeing korra and the others bending was boring to me.
Aang hugging King Bumi is so sweet
13:41 I'm honestly blown away because I always thought Zuko died
Now thats what I call a hidden clue but the clue is everywhere
WHITE LOTUS GO BRRRRRRR in the war
i think sokka getting the white lotus tile means that though he could be percived as insignificant due to his lack of bending, he may be a more useful piece than meets the eye
" instinct is a lie told by fear" i really like that quote
Maybe azula was a member of the red lotus
you should do a video on kyoshi’s life too! i was so happy when you mentioned jinpa!

It makes me really happy that Henry Rollins was able to voice act such a Chaotic Anarchist like Zaheer. Apparently he took the role super seriously!
weird idea: monk gyatso was part of the original white lotus as we can see he does it in a flashback
I would like a spin-off series of ATLA & LOK about a bunch of misfits getting recruited and becoming white lotus agents. Fighting and capturing criminals like the red lotus. It would be cool.
i feel like Uncle Iroh still knows so much more that he did’nt get to share. Lost wisdom
